Penelope's POV

Walking into Frostfang Arena as a visiting player once again feels like entering a war zone. The fifteen thousand seats are packed, and most of the crowd is here to watch me fail. A few weeks ago, Bloodfang won the games against Frostfang, but it was cancelled saying we needed to replay.

I clench my fist so hard my knuckles crack. I know it's all the work of Marcus Blackthorn—so pathetic he couldn't even play fair. Everything about that family screams pathetic behavior. Framing my parents wasn't enough, but him not accepting defeat was a new low, even for him.

Two days ago, I thought we would be competing with Frostfang's female team. Hearing it was their male team made me shudder with laughter as my coach Martinez announced it. "Sorry, the game team has been changed. It's still with Frostfang, but it would be their male team."

My teammates had erupted in protests around the locker room that morning. "This is insane!" Zoe had shouted, throwing her helmet down. "Men don'

Timothy's POV"No." She turns to face me. Her eyes are bright with unshed tears. Angry tears. "I'm done pretending. I'm done lying to myself and everyone else.""What are you talking about?" My voice comes out strangled."I stooped low enough to hate her." Sophia's voice breaks. "Penelope. I hated that girl—envied her—all because of you. Do you know how pathetic that makes me feel?""Sophia""I wanted you." She stands abruptly. Her chair scrapes against the floor. "God help me, I actually wanted you. All those rumors about you being good in the bedroom that was part of why I agreed to this alliance. I thought maybe." She laughs bitterly. "I thought maybe I could make you forget her.""This isn't the place" Dad tries to interject."Where else?" Sophia whirls on him. "In private? Where I can cry alone while my husband stares at the ceiling and wishes I was someone else? Where I can pretend I don't know he's dying because he rejected his true mate?""You knew?" I stand up. "This whole ti

Timothy's POVDad storms into my apartment at six in the morning. No knock. No warning. Just the sound of the door slamming open and his footsteps echoing across the hardwood."We need to talk." His voice fills the space. "Now."I'm already awake. Haven't slept in three days, not since I got the anonymous email with proof of what he did to Penelope's family."About what?" I stand up from the couch. My back aches from sitting in the same position all night. "Your corruption? Your lies? Your complete destruction of an innocent family?"Dad's eyes narrow. "You've been talking to someone.""I've been reading." I grab the printed documents from the coffee table. "Financial records, emails that you framed Penelope's father years ago.""Where did you get those?" His voice drops."Does it matter?" I throw the papers at him. They scatter across the floor. "It's all true. You destroyed the Hale family to eliminate political opposition.""I did what was necessary." Dad's jaw tightens. "They were

Penelope POV "You'll find out soon enough. For now, just know you're not alone in this fight."The messages stop. The number goes dead when I try to call it."Coach is going to help," I tell my parents. "He's reviewing the video now.""Good." Dad sits back down. He looks less defeated now. "What else can we do?""We prepare." I stand up as energy courses through me. "We gather every piece of evidence we have. Financial records, witness statements. Anything that proves Marcus framed us.""I have boxes of documents." Mom heads toward the basement stairs. "I've been collecting them for years. Just in case.""I'll help." Dad follows her. "Penelope, you should rest. You've had a long day.""I can't rest." I'm already pulling out my laptop. "I need to research pack law. Find precedents. Anything that can help our case."They disappear downstairs. I hear boxes being moved. Papers shuffling.I spend the next three hours reading through pack laws and council procedures. My eyes burn, my head

Penelope's POV"This isn't your fault." Dad's voice is firm despite the tremor in his hands. "This is Marcus. This has always been Marcus.""But he's doing it because of me." I can't stop the tears now. They burn hot down my cheeks. "Because I won't stay invisible anymore.""Good." Mom grabs my hands. Her grip is tight. "You should never have had to be invisible in the first place.""Tell me everything." I wipe my face with my sleeve. "What exactly did Marcus say?"Dad stands and walks to his desk. He pulls out a folder. The papers inside look official. Legal."He filed a formal petition with the pack council." Dad spreads the documents across the coffee table. "Claims our family is disrupting pack harmony. That our continued presence in Frostfang territory creates political instability."I scan the documents. "He's using my relationship with Timothy as evidence." I point to a section. "Says I'm manipulating his son. Creating division between packs.""It's all lies." Mom's voice shak

Penelope's POVThe morning after the social gathering, I wake up feeling lighter.Like I've put down a weight I didn't realize I was carrying.Isla is already awake when I stumble into the kitchen. She's making coffee and scrolling through her phone."You're all over social media," she says without looking up. "Ice Angel Dumps Bloodfang Heir is trending.""Great." I pour myself coffee. The mug is warm against my palms. "Just what I need.""Actually, most of the comments are supportive." Isla turns her phone to show me. "People are calling you brave. Saying Liam had it coming."I scan the comments. She's right. Mixed in with the usual gossip and speculation are messages of support. Women thanked me for standing up to him. Men admitting they'd seen red flags in Liam's behavior."Huh." I hand the phone back. "That's unexpected.""You called out a powerful Alpha in front of half the territory's elite." Isla grins. "People respect that."Maybe or maybe they just love drama. My phone buzzes

Timothy's POVThe claws come during breakfast with Sophia. One second, I'm holding a fork. The next, black claws pierce through my fingertips and clatter against the plate. Coffee spills across the white tablecloth."Timothy." Sophia's voice is carefully neutral. "Your wolf.""I know." I force the shift back but it takes three tries. My hands shake as human nails replace claws. "Sorry.""This is the third time this week." She dabs at the coffee stain with her napkin. "Your control is slipping.""I'm handling it." I say."Are you?" She sets down her napkin. Her eyes are cool and assessing. "Because from where I'm sitting, you're barely holding yourself together."I don't answer. Because she's right.Kael is dying. I feel him fading a little more each day. Like a light slowly dimming. Soon there'll be nothing left but darkness."My brothers are concerned." Sophia pushes her plate away.
