LOGINSelena’s POV
Kai clasped hos hands tightly around the glass but stayed quiet, taking slow sips of the water instead. “I’ve never been wanted by my own pack. I was deemed the useless one because I’m fat and now, even my mate chose my sister over me.” The sound of glass shattering against a wall filled the room and I turned to Kai with a gasp, eyes wide with shock. He was staring straight ahead at the wall but his jaw was ticking in annoyance and I could see the rage flashing in his eyes. Kian sighed in frustration, bringing his hands to rest on his hips instead. “And your father just let all of this happen?” I nodded, pain tugging at my chest as the memories of that day flooded my mind. “Yes. The Alpha didn’t think there was any use for me staying in the pack anymore since my mate didn’t want me. They didn’t want me to be a hindrance to the mating between my sister and my mate so he conspired with my father to send me out. They made me sign a contract never to return to the pack again,” Every word that left my lips felt like a sharp dagger digging into the already open wound in my heart and I didn’t know if I could keep going. The room remained quiet for a few seconds before Kai finally spoke again. “This is just utterly ridiculous. Wasn’t it enough that they sent you out of the pack already? They wanted you dead too?” His voice was sharp as he turned to me swiftly. I tipped my head backwards to rest on the wall, shame washing over at the thought. My pack hates me so much that they could even bear to know that I was alive and still roaming about. I really wish I hadn’t been born. That was a better fate than being alive in this body. “Well, you do not have to worry about that again, little mouse. We’re going to make sure that no one ever gets the chance to harm a hair on your head again but you have to promise not to try running away again.” Kian declared and I nodded without thinking twice, staring straight into his milky eyes. “T—thank you.” I stuttered, letting his words sink in even though I didn’t believe him. “I know you do not believe me but you have to make a promise to me. Promise us. Say that you won’t attempt to leave or try to end your life like you just did. Promise that you’ll always listen to us.“ The side of my face flames with awareness and I turned around to see Kai staring at me with expectation swirling in his eyes, his lips pressed together tightly. I glanced between both brothers for a few minutes before sighing and nodding. “Yes, I promise to always listen to the both of you.” A small smile found its way onto Kian’s lips, his brows relaxing in satisfaction. “Good girl.” The words sends warmth flooding my vein and I almost let my wolf take over me, happiness bustling through my veins. Kai was stoll staring at me silently but the annoyed expression on his face was slowly vanishing. I wondered if it was because of my promise to them. “The healer would be here any minute and she’d be pissed as hell when she realizes that we haven’t let you rest like she asked us. I’m afraid we might have to leave you for now.” “I’m not leaving.” “Kai, she needs to rest. The poison is still in her system and only the goddess knows when it’ll be fully out. I doubt being stubborn right now would do any good to her.” “She needs our care.” He said, glancing at his brother briefly. “I—I’ll be fine.” “She could try to run away again. Can’t you see that she’s trying really hard to convince us to leave her alone?” He sneered. My eyes widened and I shook my head, dismissing his claims. “No, I’m not trying to convince you to leave. I just…..don’t want to bother you two.” My voice softened as I hoped that he didn’t misread what I meant. “You’re not a bother to us. We just want to make sure you’re okay.” Kai opened his mouth to say something but a knock rattled the door and someone announced their presence. Kian asked them to come in and a strange woman who looked to be in her early fifties, walked in with a small bag in hand, her face masked with a smile that didn’t reach her eyes. “I apologize for interrupting your discussion, Alphas, but I must check on her now.” She said, dropping her bag on the table. Kian nodded and stood, adjusting the collar of his shirt before turning to his brother who was unmoving. There was suspicion swirling in his eyes and the more I held his gaze, the more it seemed like he was trying to rip my souls bare. It was uncomfortable and hot at the same time. If I didn’t know they were my mates, I would think that I was finally starting to lose my mind. “We need to leave, Kai.” The healer glanced at him, cocking her head in greeting before facing me, her brown eyes searching everywhere on my face but my eyes. Kai made another clicking sound again before pushing himself off the table and pulling out his hands from his pockets. He stared at me for a few more seconds and without another word, turned around and left with Kian behind him who was shaking his head in amusement. As soon as the door clicked shut behind them, the healer turned to me and started to rummage through the bag, bringing out different bottles of potions from it. I gulped up the fear lodging in my throat and tore my gaze away, hoping that it would clear the anxiety creeping up my spine. “I’m truly impressed by your ability to still be able by now. Only a small percentage of people have been able to survive acid poisoning.” She said without bothering to even look at me. Not knowing how to respond, I stayed quiet, eyeing her from my peripheral vision as she poured a strange liquid into a small, clean cup, mixing it with I assumed was water before handing it over to me. “Drink this. It’s going to help you clear out the rest of the poison gradually before it can get to your blood.” I stared at the glass in her hands, debating if I should take anything from this strange woman that I knew nothing about and still managed to give me chills. Our eyes met when she raised her gaze up to look at me, her lips twisting into a frown when she sees my hesitation. “Go ahead. If you do not take this, you have a very high chance of dying and right now, I’m not sure if the Alphas will anything that happen especially since they already know that you’re getting better. Do go ahead, take it.” She coaxed, pushing the cup in my face. I hesitated for a few seconds before taking the glass from her hand and bringing it up to my nose. It smelled like nothing, almost like coloyrec water. Without thinking twice, I gulped the content of the glass in one go and retched at the bland taste. She shot ne a glare and I swallowed back the bike rising in my throat, handing the glass back to her. She returned it back into her bag and pulled out a bottle containing another liquid, squirting a little bit of it on her finger before gesturing for me to lay on my back. I did as I’m told and she lifted my shirt up to reveal my belly button, cold air hitting my exposed skin as she pressed the liquid stained fingers into my stomach. I clamped my lips shut as a dull sting ripped through my abdomen, hotness immediately flooding me. “It hurts.” I managed to croak out, shifting upwards to escape her touch. She doesn’t say anything, pressing even harder until I could no longer feel anything and I’m forced to swat her hand away. I pushed my clothes back over my body and adjusted myself into a sitting position as the pain gradually subsided. “I’m s—sorry. I didn’t mean to hit you.” I apologized, feeling guilty for being difficult. She doesn’t respond, placing the bottle back into the bag and wiping her fingers on a wipe. “You’re going to fall asleep soon.” Her voice faded into the distance as my body weakened. I relaxed back into the bed, fighting to keep my heavy eyelids open as she grabs her bag and started to walk out of the door. As my body plummeted further into the bed. I caught sight of Kai walking in before my eyes snap shut and I let the sleep pull me into a dark abyss.Selena’s POVKai clasped hos hands tightly around the glass but stayed quiet, taking slow sips of the water instead.“I’ve never been wanted by my own pack. My eyelids fluttered open, the bright light stinging my eyes. I clenched them shut, adjusting my vision to the light before prying them open again. Two sets of familiar eyes bore into mine and my heart skipped a beat, heat coursing through my body. I pressed my lips into a thin line to stop the scream lodging in my throat. Both of them raised a questioning brow at me before straightening their back,Kai folded his arms over his chest and stared at me, his violet eyes glistening under the bright lights.“Took you long enough to wake up.” A hint of irritation fillef his tone but I’m too distracted by the bulging muscles of his arms to care.“I—sorry.” I apologized, tearing my gaze away from him.“For what? Taking too long to open your eyes, trying to find the easiest route to escape or…” He narrowed his gaze on me, sending chills down my spine.“…..trying to kill yourself? Which one is it, little mouse?”My cheeks reddened with embarrassment and I lowered my gaze, suddenly felling asham
Selena's POV Turn around little mouse…I squeezed my eyes shut and slowly, I did. Kai stood in the doorway behind me, hands clasped behind his back, looking calm like he had been waiting there the whole time but his anger was written in the stillness of his body. His muscles were tensed and he was poised like a predator about to pounce. His eyes were dark, his cold stare pinned me to the spot I stood, daring me to make a move. There were no guards, no one to act as a buffer between us which made it all worse. “K–kai.” I stuttered helplessly, eyes darting around for an exit. His gaze lowered to the doorknob in my hand and I let go of it quickly like it were on fire. A soft hum left him as he straightened and took one measured step towards me, his eyes still revealing nothing.“You picked an interesting direction to explore, little mouse.” His deep voice was as smooth as silk.I stepped back until my back hit the very door I was trying to escape from, “I–”He raised a hand sharply, “D
Selena's POV My trembling hands fell away from my neck, the weight of the collar both grounded me and unsettled me. I felt trapped and not just because I was in a cell, I glanced at my mates hesitantly,“Now what?” The doors to the cell creaked open and the tension in the atmosphere tightened. The light from the candle cast shadows across their profile, highlighting their cheekbones. The shadows did nothing to conceal the darkness in their eyes. The golden light only made them look even more eerie.Kai stepped into the dungeon first, cloaked in a stylish black ensemble. The power emitting from him made me feel insignificant, like a mouse. He crossed his arms lazily like he just didn't collar me like some pet. His eyes dragged over me, lazily, almost playful like he was deciding whether to eat me or play with me.“Now, little mouse,” He drawled, “you go upstairs and wait for us there like the good girl you are.”I shivered involuntarily, being this near to him was affecting me but I
Selena's POV Goddess, haven't I had enough…A bitter laugh erupted from my throat, I haven't, it's never enough till I break. The laughter that came out was coarse and only made my throat hurt the more but I couldn't stop it. It continued, spilling out from chapped lips.I lay there gasping for breath while the one with milky eyes tilted his head, studying me with cold fascination. He spoke to his brother, “nevermind breaking her, she seems broken already. Well, either that or insane.”I struggled to stand up, my body protesting in agony, sending dull spikes, but I wasn't going to take my rejection lying down. I wondered if it mattered, then I wondered if this would be the final thing that kills me.The one with violet eyes stepped forward, “Do you know who we are?” His dominant aura hit me in the face like a physical blow, buckling my already weakened knees and threatening to bring me to the ground.“M-my mates.” My voice wavered but I held my chin high. “Good girl.” The drawl in
Kai's POV Kian sauntered in looking like the cat that got the canary. I leaned back and watched him sit on a leather chair grinning, I waited for the usual sardonic response and he did not disappoint.“So, how did it feel to play Knight in shining armour for once?” His tone held mockery and his eyes, amusement.“It was weird, I'm usually the villain,” I replied after a moment of thought.“With where you're keeping her, I'd say you fully qualify for the villain role.” His tone was light and mild, hiding the intensity that he was well known for. My brother was the charmer, hiding his darkness from anyone he came across, my darkness was plain to see.My eyes were unreadable as I gazed at him, “If you want to release her, be my fucking guest but if she runs, that's on you.”He laughed and annoyance twinged inside me, “Relax, I'm not asking you to release her.” He tilted his head to the side, “We kept our mate in a cage, do you think there's something wrong with us?”We both looked at eac
