Everything went in slow motion; the fall, the shot, the blood splatter and the scream that escaped my lips.

Damon had seen the gun in front of me, and he had dived to the ground grabbing me as he turned the both of us and fell, our sides hitting the hard, uneven ground as the gunshot ran out.

I heard Christian shout a large 'no' behind me, as he ran towards us.

I groaned in pain, from the fall then screamed out as I paused before looking down at Damon who was lying on top of me, shielding me protectively.

The bullet had been aimed for my chest, but Damon had stepped in front of me at the last minute and it had hit him.

"No." I screamed, as I struggled to heave him up, his heavy body collapsing on me and pinning me to the floor, I used all my strength to push him to his side as my eyes welled up with tears.
