“Stop looking at me like that.”

I didn’t say those words to him. I thought about it because I couldn’t say it out loud. I didn’t like the way he was looking at me. He looked like a predator and that made me look like the prey and the last thing I wanted to be was Andres’s prey.

I couldn’t believe for a moment I thought he was nice. After putting little Joan to sleep, I had quietly walked out of her room and when I didn’t find the doctors, the nanny or her dad, I walked around looking for them until I heard his voice and followed it. I found Andres scolding and questioning the nanny.

At first, I was with him because she deserved to be scolded and I even nodded in agreement when he fired her but then he went a step further by banishing not just her but her whole family from the pack.
