~~ARIA~~

Tears blurred my vision as I hugged my knees to my chest, rocking slightly as the fear settled deep in my bones.

Who would do this? Why? The image of the tunnel coming closer, the car speeding out of control, and Ward’s face as he shouted for me to hit his car kept flashing in my mind. I had almost died and someone had planned it.

I stayed on the floor for a long time, unable to move. Every small sound in the apartment made me jump.

The wind outside the window, the hum of the fridge

~~ARIA~~Sunlight filtered softly through the heavy curtains, pulling me from a surprisingly deep sleep. For a moment, I lay there in the large, unfamiliar bed, blinking at the elegant ceiling above me. My body felt a little less heavy than the night before like the terror had receded just enough to let me breathe. But as consciousness fully returned, the memories crashed back in.The ransacked house, the scream that had torn from my throat, the way I had run into Ward’s arms like he was the only safe place left in the world.I sat up slowly, heart twisting with worry. What if they come back? What if this isn’t over? The silence in the room was thick, almost comforting, broken only by the distant hum of the villa’s security systems. Then I caught the warm, savory scent of food wafting up from downstairs. Breakfast is making my stomach rumble despite everything.I slipped into the bathroom, taking a long, steaming shower that helped wash away some of the lingering fear. The nightgow

~~WARD~~The SUV hummed smoothly through the streets, the city lights fading behind us as we headed toward my villa. My waist throbbed with every small shift in the seat, a reminder that I had pushed too hard at rehearsal. But I didn’t care. Aria was safe and that was all that mattered. I leaned my head back, eyes half-closed, replaying the way she had run into my arms earlier no, wait, that hadn’t happened yet. The memory hadn’t formed because my phone suddenly buzzed in my pocket.I pulled it out, frowning at the unknown number. A video attachment as I tapped play. The footage was shaky but clear enough to turn my blood to ice, Aria’s living room was completely ransacked. Drawers smashed open, furniture overturned, papers scattered like debris after a storm. A low curse ripped from my throat.“Turn around,” I snapped at my driver, voice sharp. “Now… take me back to Aria’s house. Fast.”The driver glanced at me in the rearview mirror, confusion etched on his face. “Sir? We are alr

~~ARIA~~The rehearsal finally wrapped up, and Ward emerged from the center looking even more exhausted than before. He had changed into a simple black hoodie that swallowed his broad frame, the hood half-pulled up like a shield against the world. His movements were stiff, careful, every step betraying the deep ache in his waist. He didn’t complain. He never did. He just took the keys from my hand with a quiet nod and slid into the driver’s seat of my car.I settled into the passenger side, watching him. The interior felt smaller with him in it, his presence filling every inch of space. He adjusted the seat back slightly, winced once as he buckled in, then started the engine without a word. The silence stretched between us, broken only by the low hum of the car and the occasional shift of gears. I couldn’t stop staring. The way his jaw clenched when he turned the wheel. The subtle hitch in his breathing when he pressed the brake. The dark circles under his eyes that the fluoresc

~~ARIA~~The entire rink seemed to go quiet the moment my voice echoed out. Ward glided to a stop, turning toward me. For a split second, his eyes softened, then a small, tired smile tugged at the corner of his lips, the kind that always disarmed me more than I wanted to admit. “Are you worried about me, Aria?”Heat rushed to my cheeks. I glared at him, crossing my arms to hide the way my hands trembled.“Don’t flatter yourself. I am your doctor…or at least I was. I am just doing my job. Now get off the ice before you cause permanent damage, you stubborn idiot.”He skated closer, each movement careful, though I could tell it cost him. The pain flickered across his features with every stride.“So you have accepted that you are my doctor again?” There was a hint of hope in his voice that made my resolve waver.I scoffed, refusing to let him see how much that simple question affected me. “Don’t twist my words. Just get off the ice. Now.”He finally stepped off the rink, wincing painfull

~~ARIA~~I sat at my desk in the performance office, the glow of my monitor casting harsh shadows across the cluttered surface. The same report I had been pretending to read for the last hour stared back at me, the words blurring into meaningless streaks of black on white. No matter how many times I blinked or rubbed my temples, the focus wouldn’t come. My mind kept drifting to one person, “Ward Bennett.”I hadn’t seen him all day. Not a single glimpse of that tall, broad-shouldered frame or those piercing eyes that always seemed to see straight through my defenses. I kept telling myself that was exactly what I wanted, the distance, space, a chance to breathe without his overwhelming presence complicating everything. But the silence felt heavier than any argument we had ever had. My chest ached with a strange, unwelcome worry that refused to be ignored.Where is he? Is he resting like he should be, or is that stubborn idiot pushing through the pain again? The thought of his injured

The wind outside the window, the hum of the fridge, my own heartbeat everything felt threatening. I finally forced myself up, checked the locks on the door and windows three times, and turned on every light. The brightness helped a little, but the fear stayed, suffocating.Sleep didn’t come that night. I lay in bed, staring at the ceiling, my body stiff and tense. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw the cut brake lines. I saw Ward’s bloodied face. I saw myself crashing. I tossed and turned, my heart racing, my mind spinning with questions. Who
