“Take me to my son, Lewis.” Luna Collette's voice went up. A pitch higher. Tired of letting her mate decide things for her.

“That I will.”

“Let's go now.” She insisted.

“Just a small detail before we head… home…”

Collette's face fell. “You lied to me.”

Lewis was quick to explain, “No. I swear.”

“If not then why are you hesitating? Why keep another detail hidden when I have waited for far too long to hug my son. Ease his pain?”

“I didn't lie. I can not do that to you.”

Collette scoffed, “you have done worse.”

Lewis didn't have to ask to know what she was talking about. He was well aware that she was angry at him for tying her up and locking her inside like a prisoner which was, after all, for her own safety.

“I apologize.”

“Treating me like a child,” She counted, “locking me inside like I am a danger to society…”

“It's not like that.”

“It sure isn't. Who would have thought that there would come a day when you would…”

Lewis didn't dare raise his head, “I was only looking out for you.”

  • Rejected For Another's Mate   72: A rainforest

Exploring the tunnel was a bad idea and Selly regretted having dragged Jordan into it. If she knew this would happen she would have happily stayed at the cottage. They had been running for so long when suddenly the torch light went off all at once, catching them off guard.Due to the sudden change in light, their eyes couldn't adjust as quickly and Jordan stumbled upon something and fell.Since he was holding Selly’s hand all the while, she simply followed suit and ended up falling on top of him.Jordan held her firmly, his eyes forced to adjust as he searched for the creatures but strangely, they were not there anymore. The screeching sound and their presence had just disappeared and so was the light. It seemed like the darkest part of the tunnel was home to those crawlers, he noted in his mind but didn't lower his guard. One thing he had learnt about this place was that anything could happen at any given time. Now, the problem wasn't fighting them off. They were small and he could e

  • Rejected For Another's Mate   71: Inside the tunnel

Selly didn't take long to prepare. There was nothing important she had to look after or take along for that matter. Arranging the hide neatly, she was all set while Jordan added a big log on the fire for when they would return. stepping out of the cottage, Selky closed the door and took off.It was still early and the sun wasn't as harsh which would make it easy for them. Now that she thought about it, ever since Jordan came to her life, she hadn't worried about a thing. Be it food or protection, he covered it all and all she had to do was breath.Letting him stay had proved to be a good thing for her. She now had company to explore the area with. Someone to take care of her. Someone to depend on.And even though the man she had invited into her cottage didn't usually say much, it was through his actions that she felt valued. The two walked fast, determined to return before sunset. The familiar route felt shorter and soon they were walking down the cliff.“Don't you find it strange

  • Rejected For Another's Mate   70: Bits and pieces of the past

Jordan wasn't sure what to think of the situation. What were the chances of her not remembering yet randomly picking up such important bits and pieces of their shared past? Suddenly, the food turned tasteless.Selly, who was clueless about his inner turmoil encouraged, “We do not know what we might face there. It's better to be prepared.”Of course, Jordan thought bitterly. His mother had said just that afterwards. It's like Selly was coping and pasting everything his mother said to him on that day. The memory was intact like it happened yesterday…~“Today is the night of the full moon.” Luna Collette said as she added food on the twins' respective plates, “ And you boys are going to try to shift again.”Dominik didn't object. He never did. Taking more than necessary, he gobbled up everything on his plate quickly, excited at the night ahead. He loved the forest. Everytime he saw his family as well as other pack members embracing their werewolf side and running into the woods, it gav

  • Rejected For Another's Mate   69: Journey preparation

That night, Selly couldn't sleep. She kept tossing and turning.“Is something the matter?” Jordan, who was beside her, asked.Selly’s stopped mid-turn, he was awake all this time?“I don't know,” she said as she turned to his side only to find him already propped on his elbow, watching her in that dimly-lit cottage. Although Selly wasn't aware of it, both their eyes could adjust and work just fine even in the dark. It's just that she never took time to think of it differently.“Is it about tomorrow's journey?” He tucked her stray hair on her ear making her cheeks feel warm instantly.“I think so.” She said, “Something about the tunnel’s entrance…”“What about it?” He said, his voice deep and inviting against her newly-found sensitive and receptive self.He too, couldn't sleep, not because he feared that he might fall sick but at the fact that anything could happen while they were there, making it even harder to get out of that strange place. All he wanted was to be back home. Back to

  • Rejected For Another's Mate   68: Happy and sore

When she woke up, Selly stretched her sore body only to realise in an instant the man who slept beside her wasn't there.Lazily, she forced herself out of the bed and her eyes landed on burning firewood.Maybe he went outside, she thought as she opened the wooden door, sticking her head out, she scanned the woods but he was nowhere to be seen. Her heart skipped. Where did he possibly go without informing her beforehand? She went back inside and pulled the hide closer to her chest. It wasn't hers and she believed it belonged to Jordan even if he denied it again and again.Even after half an hour had passed, Jordan didn't return. Panic started to kick in. Did he leave me?Maybe she was overthinking or maybe not, she wasn't sure.Feeling restless, she left the bed with worry nagging at her. What if he was…gone? What if he found a way out of the rest and left without her?For minutes she kept pacing inside the small house and occasionally checking outside for any signs of him.The memor

Wanting and not being wanted back was what Selly was afraid of. The reason she was hesitant to go beyond the river and follow the drums.Jordan, who came from nowhere, had accepted her and actually wanted her back.He was gentle. Patient. Taking care of her even when she was initially mean and wanted him gone, he stayed.Jordan understood just where to touch and how much pressure to apply every single time. His tongue knew the contours of her body, every nook and cranny he licked spotless. Simply put, he was in tune with her needs. Now that he had kissed her like a hungry man and stole her breath a couple times, with one motion he made her lay on her stomach, leaving her back and behind at his mercy. His predatory eyes scanned the naked woman beneath him and his manhood pulsed, sticky and colorless fluid coating its throbbing head. His wolf purred in anticipation.Selly raised her upper body just in time to feel his weight as he thrust in her in one decisive move and she gasped, her
