Chapter 6

Alpha Carlos POV

She looked at me with pain written all over her face, but I refused to allow myself to be deceived by her innocent face again.

I took a step closer, gazing at her with disgust, “ you heard her right. She will be living with us from now onwards and I will soon make her my woman so, if I were you, I would give her the respect that she deserves.”

“ Even if you want to bring a woman into this house, does it ha… have... to be my... my sister?” She asked, choking on her words with tears rolling down her cheeks that broke my heart into a thousand pieces.

I wanted to hold her and tell her that everything was alright but I couldn't. She deceived me into marrying her when she knew that she was carrying an abominable child in her womb and I'm going to make this mansion a living hell for her.

“I'm the Alpha of this pack, I can bring in any woman I want, if you are not content with it, you are free to go,” I yelled out, glaring at her with disgust before turning around to leave with Jane.

“ I'm sorry,” she whispered with her voice slightly trembling which got me halted on my track.

I spun around and my heart ached in pain when I saw how broken she was. I kept a straight face and sent her a cold glare that made her shiver in fear.

“ You are sorry for what, tell me?” I asked, levitating my eyebrows.

“ I'm sorry for not telling you that…. that… I'm…”

“ That you are what?! Carrying an abominable child?! Did you know how I felt when I found out from a stranger on my wedding day that my mate was pregnant for an unknown man?!”

“ I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I didn't tell you because I was scared of losing you.”

“ What! Was that your reason for humiliating me and making me look like a fool in the presence of my people?”

“ Please forgive me.”

“ It's too late,” I whispered and exited the living room with Jane who wrapped her arms around my waist, making me uncomfortable and I didn't miss the way she glared at Scarlett.

*******

I was in the throne room, sipping wine lazily when my thoughts went to the day I met Scarlett.

I could still remember when I was leaving for my pack after attending the mate bonding ceremony when I had given up on finding my mate that day. A sweet smell suddenly hit my nose and I was stunned when my wolf altered, “mate!"

I hastened my pace towards the direction and I collided with Scarlett, my mate.

She was so beautiful and tall with golden silky hair that fell on her shoulder, tempted pink lips, and golden eyes to compliment her beauty.

I fell in love with her instantly and I was so sure, I was gonna spend the rest of my life living happily together with her as my mate and my Luna.

But a few days into my wedding ritual, I received a letter from an unknown person, telling me how she was hiding a big secret from me under the facade of her innocent face.

I didn't believe it and I tore the letter because I knew she couldn't do such a thing until the day a stranger stood up on my wedding day and revealed her dirty secret to the whole world, making me look like a fool in the presence of everyone.

I felt betrayed, shattered, hurt and my heart was broken into a thousand. On that day, I swore to take my revenge on her, to show her the pain of being betrayed by one's mate which was why I went ahead with the wedding.

"Good evening, your Highness." Felix, voice jolted me out of my thoughts.

I sighed a heavy sigh before nodding my head in response.

"Oh! You are back? How was your mission." I asked, adjusting my seat.

" It went well, your Highness. We were able to stop the rogue from entering the pack border."

" Wow, that's impressive. You just saved our pack from losing resources to stop the rogues. I'm going to reward you and the other warriors with a fest tonight."

"Wow! Thank you so much, your Highness. I'm sure others will be thrilled with this news." he said with excitement.

"Yeah, it's the least I could do to show my appreciation and besides, you have been of great help to us since you came into this pack."

"I should be the one thanking you, your Highness, for accepting and taking me into your pack as one of your own."

We were discussing the fest that I was going to hold for them when the door to my throne room swung open and Jane stepped in with three maids, wearing a red royal gown with heavy makeup that made me frown slightly.

She paced towards me with a smile, "Good day, your Highness. I want to inform you that I will be stepping out for shopping."

"Alright," I replied, coldly.

She turned around, about living when her gaze fell on Felix who was standing behind me and I saw how they gazed at each other with disbelief.

"Who... Who is he?" she stuttered while glancing at Felix.

"He's my chief guard and one of my best warriors."

"Is he from this pack?"

"No, but he's one of us now and he has a good heart. He saved me from groups of vampires when I went hunting."

"Oh, I see," she said, glancing at him with disgust.

"Have you guys met because it looks like you've seen each other before?" I asked curiously, looking at Felix who had been staring at Jane since she stepped in without words and I could hear his heart beating rapidly.

"I...I.." Felix stuttered, looking at Jane nervously which she in return, glared at him, making him shiver in fear and he kept mute.

I gazed at Jane, demanding an answer but what she said left me with mixed feelings.
