A friendly stranger

It’s been three days now since I saw Andrew or Isabelle after that incident in the bedroom.

I remember that day, they continued what they were doing ignoring my presence and I had to leave in shame. My so-called mate was screwing my best friend, but it didn’t matter to him, after all he rejected me.

 After that day, he hasn’t called me again to his room like he normally does, it seemed as if they have gotten along so well that he didn’t need me again.

Deep down, I was hurt by how he discarded me so quickly after forcefully taking my virginity and to think Isabelle, my best friend, didn’t think to search for me after seeing her that day.

“Anna. I haven’t seen you all day” Kate said hitting me playfully.

Kate was a maid like me and my only friend since I got here, she has been more like a sister, and she was also aware of everything that has happened to me so far.

“Maybe you were too busy to notice that I was beside you all day” I replied, frowning.

“I’m sorry about that. Guess what, Adrian is coming to visit”.

“How is that supposed to be my business? I haven’t heard of that name before”.

“What world are you in girl?, he is Alpha Andrew's cousin, and he is so hot, I have a crush on him” she said whispering and blushing.

“Kate, I have a lot of happening already in my life and the Alpha’s cousin coming here has nothing to do with me”.

“Imagine him coming here will change your life for good, I heard he is nice, and I’m sure his presence here will make a difference”.

“Seeing the way the Alpha is, am sure his cousin will be the same or even worse”.

“Stop gossiping! And get back to work, we are having a visitor” I heard a voice I have longed to hear for days now.

“Isabelle!” I said, running to hug her.

“I have been wanting to talk to you since that day, but I haven’t seen you around, I thought you were dead, thank goodness you are alive. We have so much to talk about ”.

“Get your filthy hands off me” Isabelle replied, slapping me.

“Isabelle?” 

“It’s me, Anna, your best friend”.

Isabelle and I have been childhood best friends ever since I saved her from some bullies, being the Alpha’s daughter, then it was easy for me.

She was an orphan, so she started staying with me in my palace then, since I had no siblings, she even changed her name to Isabelle, so we could behave like twins. But this Isabelle that just slapped me was not the same Isabelle I used to know.

“Anna, you should know by now that I never liked you from the start, I just needed protection from you as the Alpha’s daughter then, but things have changed now. This is no longer your palace, I am the superior one, and you are just a maid, we were friends before, not now”. 

Shock was an understatement of how I was feeling right now, this was my childhood best friend, we have known each other for fifteen years now.

“You have always got what you wanted ever since you were born, am sure you never imagined you will be my slave one day, but fate had plans for you”.

“Just a piece of advice, I’m the Alpha’s woman now, he already rejected you and when he is tired of inflicting pain on you, he will end your life without thinking twice”.

“Why? Why have you decided to throw away our fifteen years of friendship because of our status changed?” I asked, almost at the verge of tears.

“Don’t question me, I already told you I was only using you to get protection, you think I was always happy with your silly nagging every time, I hate you Annabel, I have always hated you from the very start, you always got what you want but complain as if you were suffering”.

“You should get used to your new life now, things have changed, I am no longer at your level, so you must see me and respect me as the Alpha’s woman”. 

“After all you will be a slave forever until Andrew decides to kill you. Now go and clean the room opposite Andrew's room, that's where the visitor will stay” she shouted and immediately I obeyed.

The last thing I wanted was for her to report me to Andrew for disobeying her.

Never had I imagined Isabelle will do this to me, I saved her from a group of bullies years back and that’s how we became friends, just for her to tell me she was using me all along.

All these years, I thought of her as my sister, but she stood in my face today to describe how much she hates me. 

I let the tears fall freely again, I have lost count of how many times I cried these few weeks in this place. Why did everyone suddenly hate me? The hatred is too much, and it is messing with my head already. My so-called mate won’t even let me take my life. It seems as if everyone just wants me to suffer until I die.

I walked straight to the room still in my thoughts and started dusting and cleaning it, I just couldn’t get over the conversation I just had with Isabelle, not to mention the slap she gave me.

I have come to understand that this is how my life will be until a savior comes my way.

“What the fuck are you doing in my room?” I heard a muscular voice say, and I turned to see a handsome, naked looking gentleman staring at me.

“Oh goodness. I’m sorry. I promise, I didn’t see anything” I said, covering my face with my hands.

“You can open your eyes, you already saw everything, no need to pretend” He said, making me blush.

“I’m sorry sir, I was assigned to clean this room, I will leave immediately”. I said, heading over to the door.

“Wait”.

“Sir?” I replied, turning back to face him.

“What’s your name?”

“My name is Annabel, sir”. I replied before rushing out.
