Zyra's pov

“I don't want to see you near that man anymore, Ronan.”

“Mummy but why?” He whined.

“He's ruthless, you don't want to be around him.”

“But whenever I am around him I feel happy, I wish he were my father.” He pouted his lips.

Wherever he does that, it brings me to my knees.

I had the cutest son in the world, my own gift from the moon goddess.

My chest tightened, could his pup be awakening, could it be perceiving Roland as his father?

No, that's too soon.

But he might be an early bloomer.

I pushed the thought aside, it was possible he didn't even have a wolf like me.

“You not having a father does not make you incomplete, you have me, Nana, and Papa,” I assured him, ruffling his hair a bit.

"But Papa is sick, I am scared I might lose him too and then I would be completely fatherless.”

“Don't be scared, Papa will still be here with us for a long while.”

“Promise?”

“I Pinky promise,” I held out my little finger to him.

He hugged me tight, “I love you, mum.”

“I love you more.”

After I put him to bed and ensured Nana was no longer crying and was sound asleep.

I grabbed my coat and sent Andrew a text that I wanted to see him.

He requested we meet back at the office, it was way past working hours but that was still the best option for us.

When I entered the shop the light was still on, it didn't even look like he was closing soon.

He was probably waiting for some supplies.

“Andrew, I need your help.” I breathed out, folding my hands together to prevent him from seeing them tremble.

“Whatever it is, Zyra, I am willing to help.” His lips quivered a bit as he forced a smile.

“I will need an extra job, or something I can do on the side to meet up with bills.”

“How much do you need?”

“It's a little bit over $250K.”

“I will give it to you.”

“No, I don't want your help that way, I could never take such an amount from you.”

“I would loan it to you, at least until you can come up with such an amount.”

I shook my head, "No, that's too much.”

“No it's not, you know I would do anything to keep you and Ronan happy.”

“I would pay you back in no time, I would take on extra shirts and get an extra job as well.”

Andrew nodded, avoiding my gaze.

“Thank you so much for everything, I'm really grateful. “You are the only one in the city I can call a friend.”

“Don't mention it.” He added quickly.

He kept on looking over his shoulder.

“Are you expecting someone?”

“No I am not.”

“It's already quite late, do you need help closing the store?”

“Actually, there's no need for that, you can go ahead and rest–.”

He stopped talking when Roland came out from the back, he and his beta.

They had some large crates stacked with God knows what.

A frown formed between my brows.

Five whole years without setting my eyes on him, and now I get to see him twice in less than 24 hours.

I scoffed.

“Zyra.” He breathed.

His scent immediately hit my nostrils, he still smelled like rich leather and cedar wood trees.

I remembered that scent perfectly, from those nights years ago when I cleaned his rooms to the days I was privileged to even be in his presence.

“Alpha.”

“You don’t have to call me that.”

“Why? Isn't that your role?”

“Not here it isn't."

“Then why are you here?”

“It’s not your concern.”

“Then tell me, are you stalking me or hunting me?”

He scoffed.

“Right, you won’t be caught dead in the same space as me right?”

“Is that what you think?”

“It’s what I know.”

“If anyone is keeping away from each other it would be you.”

“Why would I hide from you?”

“It’s not about you hiding from me, it’s what you are keeping hidden.”

I staggered a bit.

Could he have found out?

He held my gaze longer almost like he was searching for the truth in my eyes.

“I am not hiding anything from you and my life is not your business,”

“It used to be,  like you said ‘your Alpha’,” His gaze burned a hole through me, pinning me to the wall.

“I believe you lost that right five years ago.”

“Did I ?” He raised the corner of his lips in a mischievous smirk.

"I am no longer a member of the Riverrun pack, so yes you did.”

“And who gave you the right to decide that?”

“I didn't decide to leave the pack, What are you saying?”

“A confused look passed across his features as he raised his eyebrows in question.

It was probably in my head, I had a long day.

We stood in an uncomfortable silence, staring daggers at each other, Christopher cleared his throat jolting both of us out of our bubble.

“Goodbye Zyra.” Roland finally spoke.

His tone gave the vibe that it wasn't the last time we would be seeing each other.

A small part of me hoped it wasn't, but a really large part prayed we never crossed paths again, for Ronan's sake.

Christopher loaded the crates, and Hey both left.

Just before Roland got into the car, he turned towards me, and my breath hitched.

His eyes glowed with speckles of gold in them, but they vanished as quickly as they had appeared.

Then he left.

Something deep stirred in me, I couldn't exactly place it but heaviness sat deep in my chest as his car drove away.

“Ouch!” I muttered beneath my breath, gripping my shoulder.

The exact spot he had marked me five years ago burned hot.

“It can't be,” I whispered to myself.

I ran to the bathroom and pulled down the strap of my dress to take a look in the mirror.

There it was, the mark had reappeared.

Roland's POV…Was I that blind to the resemblance?Even a stranger could see clearly that Ronan was mine.“Roland, we need to talk.” I ignored her and made my way downstairs. My pack was dying and the solution had been hidden away in another realm.A few minutes of a lapse in judgment won't change the fact that she had kept a secret as huge as this from me.I was not going to back down easily, my son was leaving this realm with me whether Zyra liked it or not.I didn't get a chance to take in my surroundings since I arrived unconscious. The house wasn't much, it was a bit old but it felt cozy like a real home.Unlike the palace Mat always had this cold and eerie feeling to it.When my father died, the only person I looked forward to meeting at the palace was Zyra -Even if I never made my feelings known and always kept my distance, just watching her from afar spread a warmth in my chest. My mother was tiresome to be around so I always avoided her, though I always wondered if she knew a

Zyra's pov…I pressed for more information from Roland but he didn't answer anymore.Whatever he was saying was from his sleep, he wasn't conscious. But strangely after his last statement his fever completely broke.I moved him to the bed.He only had his pants on, but it was completely soaked.I got a change of clothes from Papa's closet.I gulped hard as I unbuckled his belt to free him from his pants. He wasn't thrusting or sleep talking anymore, he just lay asleep peacefully as I changed him.His body tensed a bit when my hand touched his torso.I paused for a moment thinking he was awake. This was harder than I thought, my throat tightened as flashbacks of that night five years ago kept replaying.“G

“Don't be stubborn, you will die.”“I won’t die, my wolf has just refused to heal me.”“Why?”“Because he's a piece of sh*t,”“I thought each person's wolf was like a personal best friend? How can your wolf be this cruel to you?”“He's pissed at me.”“pissed to the point of allowing you to die?”“He won't allow me to die, he just wants to prove a point.”“Well, you are losing a large amount of blood, quite fast.”“Take me to the car, Christopher would know what to do.”Roland was twice my size, carrying him would be nearly impossible.“I am not sure I would be able to lift you, and you are… naked.”His clothes lay beside him in shreds.“Get Christopher.”I nodded and made my way to the exit.I searched for his car and ran towards it.Once Christopher spotted me, he ran in my direction as well.“What is it?” “It's Roland… He's injured.”“What?”“He told me to come get you, that you would know what to do.”“Let's go.”When we returned Roland was still bleeding badly and his eyes were s

  • Rejected, Returned, Revealed    Chapter 12: The scent that leads to you

Roland's POV…I got in the car fuming with anger. I did not have the right to get angry or jealous with who Zyra was with but I still couldn't help it.She was probably doing it to get a rise out of me, I had to leave, I couldn't stand her flirting with another man.I had to admit she wasn't the same person I had rejected five years ago.She had changed.“Well, that's what you get for rejecting your first love and mate.” I paused. My wolf has just spoken to me.For the first time in five years, he actually said a word to me.“Glad to see we are back on speaking terms,” “Don't push it, I still haven't forgiven you.” “You know I had no choice.”“Everyone has a choice, you just chose to be blind to it.”Warmth spread across my chest, hearing his voice again was so good.I only just realized how much I missed it.The loneliness in my chest was leaving.I was about to reply when I felt a sudden pang in my chest. At first it was light then it hit in waves.“Are you doing this?” I yelled

Zyra’s POV…I followed behind him, matching his long strides as he walked. He stopped in front of a large door, “Wait here ma’am.” he said before he left me at the door and entered.I stood there for minutes just waiting and staring at the door. Another beat passed, a piercing scream reached my ears, and then moans, grunts, giggles, and the sound of skin slapping.I gulped hard trying to hold down the contents of my lunch. The moans continued for a few minutes before they stopped. The bouncer came out, “You can go in, he's ready for you.”Ready? I took a deep breath before I walked through the door. The room was dark with shades of red and blue contrasting with each other. There was no music playing, just the voices of people deep in conversation mixed with the moans of people having sex sounded through the room.Roland’s words rang in my ears; ‘Do you have an idea of what goes on at parties like this?”I kept my head high maintaining eye contact with Mr Morelli as I walked towards

Zyra’s POV…“What the fuck are you doing here?” He yelled towering over me.I flinched a bit, then released myself from his grip creating as much distance between us as the room could allow.I took a deep breath, “I didn’t need your rescue, I had things under control.”“You didn’t answer my question.” “I don’t see how my life is your business.” He scoffed and moved closer, ”Do you even have the slightest idea of what goes on at events like this?”My breath hitched.“What goes on at events like this?”His eyes dipped to my cleavage causing the color of his eyes to flash from gray to black. It was so fast that if I wasn’t staring at him I would have missed it.I dragged my shawl higher. The air felt heavy and thick. Was the air conditioning not working? I looked around and saw it was blasting at full speed so why did the room feel hot as hell?“You don’t want to know, go home.” He opened the door for me to leave.“I have business to handle so I will stay.” I retreated further into the
