Chapter ten

CORA’s POV…

I slowly opened my eyes to find my back aching badly and my head hurting, and this time, when I had opened my eye, instead of the brightly lit room I thought I would find myself in, I was in a dark room.

I tried to get off the floor, but then I realized that I had been tied. My eyes widened in shock as I looked around the room, only to see that I wasn’t in any room; I was in the dungeon. Tears started to stream down my cheeks the moment I recalled that he had told me he would take me to the dungeon to kill myself.

How did I get into so much trouble? How did my life become such a mess? He didn’t want me as a mate; he wanted someone else, so why couldn’t he just let me die? And that maid—what had I done to her to cause her to snitch on me in that way?

I struggled to get free from the bounds, but it was of no use; getting out of it seemed rather hopeless, and it hurt me. I closed my eyes as I continued to try and get free, but I still couldn't, and I shut my eyes in anger.
