Selina’s POV

It's been two nights.

And it's been horrible so far.

The walls of my room had began to suffocate me, memories played too loudly, and the silence was starting to to feel like punishment.

I decided to step out and take a quick stroll to get my head straight.

Everything had changed so quickly, and for the worse.

Because now Malik wasn’t speaking to me.

He was avoiding me, I had passed him three times in the past two days, and every time, he turned the other way. Like I was poison.

He hadn’t asked how I was coping.

He hadn’t even asked if I needed anything.

I pressed my fingers to my temple and sighed. I was tired of crying, tired of pretending I was okay.

As I turned toward the secluded parts of the pack, where the training ground was located, it was usually silent and I was hoping to catch a glimpse of Malik, even If it's from afar, but I caught a flicker of movement through the trees instead, bright led lights and the sharp clanking of metal. My brows furrowed. Why does

Eva's POV.I took a slow breath as I stood in front of the double doors of Nicklaus’s study; I just stood there, listening with a wide smile on my face. The faint sound of pages turning, his steady breathing, I could almost pick out the seriousness on his face.I pushed the door open gently, peeking in.He was there, sitting behind his desk, focused on a stack of documents. His sleeves were rolled up, showing those strong, veined forearms that never failed to distract me, even when I tried to act composed. The sight alone made my heart skip.“Nicklaus,” I called softly. His eyes lifted from the papers immediately, meeting mine with that same quiet warmth that had returned between us since last night. “Eva,” he murmured, his voice deep and smooth, “you’re up early.”I smiled faintly and stepped in, closing the door behind me. “I couldn’t sleep anymore. You weren’t in bed, so I figured I’d come find you.”He leaned back in his chair, lips curling faintly. “You found me.”I walked closer

Eva's POV."I don't know how much longer I can hold myself back from taking you right here and now Eva." Nicklaus whispered against my ear, and a sharp shiver of ecstasy washed down my spine. We were still on our way back to the pack, and the both of us alone at the backseat of the carriage wasn't helping matters... Not with how long we've been apart from each other.I couldn't hold myself back either, I needed him to touch me already. It was obvious none of us was strong enough to resist the tension until we get to the house."What if I don't want you to hold yourself back? What if I want you to take me right here?" I bit my lips seductively and a wide grin broke out on his face."Oh Eva, how I've missed you, my naughty wife." He cooed moving both his hands down to my waist and I felt his fingertips dig into my skin as he pulled me in for a kiss,. With all the passion that had been waiting for the past few weeks, he pressed his lips to mine and kissed me hungrily. I could feel my wh

Eva's POV.Nicklaus was downstairs speaking with my father, finalizing whatever arrangements needed to be made before we left. I could faintly hear their voices through the floorboards... There was no tension anymore, no unspoken hostility. Just understanding. But that didn’t make saying goodbye any easier.“Do you need help with that?” My mother’s voice came from the doorway.I turned to see her leaning gently against the frame, her expression soft. Her hair was tied back in its usual neat braid, though her eyes shimmered with the kind of sadness only mothers could hide behind calm smiles.I smiled weakly. “I think I’ve got it. I’m just… delaying the inevitable.”She came closer and sat beside me on the bed. “It never gets easy, does it?”I shook my head, my throat tightening. “No. It doesn’t.”Her hand reached for mine, warm and familiar. “You’ve grown so much, Eva. The girl who used to hide behind whenever any pack member mocked her about her wolf is now the queen of all wolves. Ye

Eva's POV.I couldn’t sit still. The moment the guard bursted into my room to tell me Nicklaus had been spotted crossing the pack’s border, my entire body went rigid. My breath caught somewhere between my throat and chest, and I’d been pacing ever since... back and forth, back and forth, like a caged wolf that had just caught the scent of freedom and fear all at once.He came.He actually came.My heart thudded so loud I could hear it echoing in my ears. For days, I had imagined him pacing the palace, angry and hurt, refusing to come after me out of pure pride. I’d convinced myself he’d stay away just to teach me a lesson... that I’d have to crawl back before he lifted a finger. But he didn’t wait. He came himself.“Moon goddess…” I whispered, dragging my fingers through my hair and exhaling shakily. “What am I supposed to do now?”I turned again, pacing to the far side of the room. He was close. Too close.I could feel it in my bones. The closer he came, the stronger the bond pulsed

Eva's POV.I sat by the window, my legs curled beneath me, staring blankly at the trees outside. Everything was normal.Everything except me.It had been days since I last truly smiled. Not the polite kind I gave my mother when she checked in on me, or the ones I wore at the dinner table. I meant a real smile, the kind that came without thought, without effort. The kind Nicklaus used to pull out of me just by looking at me a certain way.But even thinking his name hurt.I sighed and hugged my knees tighter. My eyes felt heavy, not from sleepiness, but from how much I’d cried lately. It’s strange, how tears could make your eyes ache like your heart. The door creaked.I didn’t turn immediately. I thought it was my mother again, coming to remind me to eat. But then I heard a familiar, deeper voice“Eva?”My head lifted instantly. “Father?”He stood by the door, dressed in his usual brown tunic and cloak. There was something hesitant in the way he lingered there, as though he wasn’t sure

Nicklaus sat behind his desk, a mountain of documents spread before him, most untouched. His fingers hovered over a quill, motionless. The ink had dried at its tip, much like his will to pretend everything was fine. The early afternoon light streamed through the tall windows. He had spent days convincing himself that he needed this distance. That Eva’s absence was necessary, maybe even deserved. Yet, every time he passed her side of the bed, or walked by the garden where she used to sit reading, something in his chest twisted so tightly it almost hurt to breathe.“Your Majesty,” came a voice at the door.Nicklaus looked up to see Harlen, his beta and most trusted aide, standing with a folder in hand. “The patrol reports from the outskirt borders,” Raymond said, stepping in.“Leave them there,” Nicklaus replied quietly, motioning toward the desk.Harlen did as he was told but lingered. He watched his king closely... the stiffness in his posture, the slight hollowness under his eyes. “Y
