Selina’s POV

It's been two nights.

And it's been horrible so far.

The walls of my room had began to suffocate me, memories played too loudly, and the silence was starting to to feel like punishment.

I decided to step out and take a quick stroll to get my head straight.

Everything had changed so quickly, and for the worse.

Because now Malik wasn’t speaking to me.

He was avoiding me, I had passed him three times in the past two days, and every time, he turned the other way. Like I was poison.

He hadn’t asked how I was coping.

He hadn’t even asked if I needed anything.

I pressed my fingers to my temple and sighed. I was tired of crying, tired of pretending I was okay.

As I turned toward the secluded parts of the pack, where the training ground was located, it was usually silent and I was hoping to catch a glimpse of Malik, even If it's from afar, but I caught a flicker of movement through the trees instead, bright led lights and the sharp clanking of metal. My brows furrowed. Why does

Eva's POV.The first thing I noticed when my eyes fluttered open was the dim evening light spilling through the large windows into the room. For a moment, I laid still, confused about how long I had been asleep. My body felt too well-rested, my limbs loose as though I had slept for an entire day.Flashes of what went down back in his father's house washed through my head, Nicklaus really didn't hurt me despite his anger, immediately I jumped on him out of fright, he'd wrapped his hands tightly around me so I wouldn't fall and carried me all the way back home. "I didn't mean to scare you." Those were the last words I heard from him as he laid me on the bed and a deep wave of sleep took over me.I turned to the other side of the enormous bed, expecting to see his cold form, but he wasn’t there.Isn't it a mystery how I never wake to him in the bed? Or this isn't this his room as well? Does he wait for me to be deep asleep before escaping to his own room?I mean the space he occupied on

  • Rejected and Banished; The kids are his.   Chapter eighty four.

Eva's POV. I slowly opened my eyes to the soft morning sun that found its way into the room through the window.Somehow, I had slept so soundly, better than the past twenty years of my life.Turning around, a light sigh escaped my mouth as I realized that I was the only one on the bed, Nicklaus wasn't beside me.Did he not sleep in the room last night? I tried to recall the occurrence between us last night, but my memory seemed to blur most of the details out. I could only remember him offering his blood to me, but I was certain he said a few more words to me after that, why can't I seem to remember any of it? A soft knock on the door jolted me out of my trance. I quickly stood up and rushed towards the door, pulling it open to a middle aged lady standing by the door side, with a warm smile on her face. "Good morning ma'am, and welcome to diamond Ave pack," she bowed slightly. "Thank you." I managed to mutter, wondering why she is bowing to me. "My name is Catherine, I'm your pe

Eva's POV. Surprisingly, Nicklaus wasn't lying, father really agreed for the marriage rites to be carried out today. He'd sent for the elders, the Betas and the council members, none of the rest of the pack members were invited. Why invite them when they were the reason he was marrying me off in such a hurry. I knew his compliance wasn't because I lied about Nicklaus being my mate, he would have still refused because of Nicklaus's reputation, he agreed to this because he knew Nicklaus was capable of protecting me, and more conveniently far away from the pack where their mockeries and haunting murmurs will be non existent. In a few hours, the marriage rites were complete and we were ready to leave. Mom kept a long face the entire time, including Ethan and Annabelle. They insisted that it was too sudden but my mind was already made up. I can't stand staying back in this pack for longer than an hour. I couldn't hold back my tears as I hugged them goodbye, I'm truly going to miss

  • Rejected and Banished; The kids are his.   Chapter eighty two.

Eva's POV.Three days.Seventy two hours.I’d counted every single one of them, second by agonizing second. And he hadn’t come. Each morning I woke up hoping to see a shadow outside my window, or maybe hear someone mention a stranger in the pack. Each night, I sat by the window, telling myself I wasn’t waiting, even though my eyes stayed open through the night. But nothing.Nicklaus hadn’t come back. And the more time passed, the heavier the pit in my stomach grew.Maybe he used me.Maybe all he wanted was to be freed from the cave, and I had been stupid enough to give him exactly what he needed. I should have known better.Today, I barely noticed anything around me as I sat at the dining table with my family, my spoon circling the eggs on my plate for the umpteenth time.I wasn’t hungry. Not for food, anyway.“Okay, what’s going on with you?” Ethan asked suddenly, his eyes narrowing towards me.I looked up, startled. “Huh?”“You’ve been stirring your food for the past ten minutes,”

  • Rejected and Banished; The kids are his.   Chapter eighty one.

Eva's POV.I staggered into the house, gasping for breath. My legs ached, my throat burned, and my heart still pounded violently against my ribs like it was trying to escape. The wind had died down before I got to the pack, but my mind was still a whirlwind of questions.Who the hell was that man?No. That thing.Nicklaus, a man in a coffin, a dagger in his chest, a voice in my head, a proposal of marriage. And then... gone. Like mist in the air.I didn’t have the luxury to process any of it as I focused solely on making it to my room without running into anyone. I needed to think... Or cry... Or both. The front door creaked open a little less noisily as I tiptoed inside, thankfully, the living room was empty, no pack warriors lounging about, no omega staff cleaning or dusting. Just silence. Exactly what I needed.I climbed the first stair quietly, one hand clutching the railing, the other still trembling from the dagger I’d pulled from a dead man's chest.“Eva.”The voice made my h

  • Rejected and Banished; The kids are his.   Chapter eighty.

Eva’s POVI stood there, still panting, staring down at the coffin where Nicklaus's body lay... lifeless, yet somehow more alive than the version that had been beside me this whole time. The silence in the cave now was defeaning, pressing heavy on my chest. My mind was racing in a thousand directions, trying to make sense of what had just happened. I had just discovered that the only person who’d been by my side the past few days wasn’t real, not entirely, at least. That he had been a ghost, trapped in flesh that hadn’t moved in five years. And yet… he’d felt so real.“I can offer you a deal.” His voice suddenly sliced through my spinning thoughts.I blinked and turned toward him... the him still standing beside me, although in my mind like he'd said. He looked the same, calm and strangely distant, his hands clasped behind his back like he was offering me a business proposal and not standing in front of his own corpse.“A… deal?” I repeated cautiously. “What kind of deal?”He took a
