Luna's POV

I can feel the weight of every stare, every held breath, every judgment being formed in the minds around me. Then Liam steps forward, his brow furrowed in confusion and something that might be anger.

"What the hell is going on here?" he demands, looking between Jaxton's team and his own teammates. "Someone explain to me what's happening."

"You're not blind, are you? You can see your little mate—or should I say your ex-mate—has betrayed her own team. She's clearly choosing to run off with the rivals instead of fighting for her place with us." Dominic is the first to speak, his voice dripping with disdain.

"Betrayed?" The word tastes bitter in my mouth. "How can I betray a team that never wanted me in the first place?"

Alex crosses his arms, shaking his head like I'm some kind of disappointment. "They gave you chances, Luna. You just couldn't handle it."

Liam turns his piercing gaze on me, and for a moment, I see a flicker of the person I thought I knew. "Luna, what are they

Alex's POV I walk out of Coach Margaret's office with my jaw clenched, frustration coursing through me. I search around for a while, but she's nowhere to be found. My phone buzzes with a text. I glance at the screen and it's Coach Margaret asking where I am, noting that I'm late for practice. I stare at the message for a moment. I drive across town to the Rival Fangs facility, parking where I can watch the field without being seen. My heart pounds as I spot Luna among the players, and despite everything, I can't help but smile as I watch her play. She's incredible out there. The way she moves, the energy that seems to radiate from her—she has no idea the power she possesses. No idea what she's capable of, or what that power could mean for her future. My phone rings again, the screen lighting up with "DAD" in bold letters. I decline the call immediately, my stomach tightening with familiar dread. I've spent my entire life trying to please him, following his demands, meeting his exp

Luna's POVI push open the heavy door to the Rival Fangs locker room, and immediately I'm hit with a wave of cheering and applause. My new teammates are all gathered around, their faces bright with genuine excitement and welcome. It's such a stark contrast to the cold reception I received at the Timber Wolves that for a moment, I'm almost overwhelmed."Luna!" several voices call out at once, and I can't help but smile at their enthusiasm.Jaxton appears from behind the group, carrying a small cake decorated with silver and blue frosting. There are candles stuck into the top, their flames dancing."This is tradition," he explains, setting the cake down on one of the benches. "Every new team member gets a welcome cake. Make a wish and blow out the candles."I look around at all the expectant faces surrounding me. These people barely know me, yet they're celebrating my arrival like I'm someone who matters. Like I'm wanted here."Thank you," I say, my voice thick with emotion. "This is...

Luna's POVAfter getting out of the car, Jaxton leads me through the corridors of what I can only describe as an athletic fortress. The walls are lined with trophies, championship banners, and photos of teams spanning decades, and I can't help but feel intimidated by the sheer scale of success surrounding me."Coach is really excited to meet you," Jaxton says as we approach a heavy oak door with "HEAD COACH" emblazoned in gold letters. My stomach flutters with nervous energy. This is it—the moment that will officially seal my fate with the Rival Fangs.Jaxton knocks twice, and a booming voice calls out, "Come in!"The office is massive, easily twice the size of Coach Margaret's space back at BackWood. The man behind the desk stands as we enter, and I'm immediately struck by his presence. He's tall, broad-shouldered, with graying hair and intense dark eyes that seem to take in everything at once. But what surprises me most is the genuine warmth in his expression."Luna!" he exclaims, c

Luna's POVI walk toward the stage with determination coursing through my veins, my heart pounding so hard I can feel it reverberating in my throat. Each step feels monumental, like I'm crossing some invisible threshold I'll never be able to uncross. The crowd's chatter seems to fade into background noise as I focus on putting one foot in front of the other.Just as I reach the steps leading up to the small platform, the main door swings open with a heavy thud that cuts through the music. Liam walks in, and time seems to slow down. He's wearing a dark jacket that makes his eyes look even more intense under the neon lights, and for a moment, he looks exactly like the guy I thought I knew—the one who made me laugh, who seemed to see something in me that others missed. Our eyes meet across the crowded room, and I wait. I wait for that familiar spark of recognition, for his face to soften the way it used to. I wait for some acknowledgment of everything we've shared—the conversations, the

Luna's POVI pull out my phone and call Cassie. My mind feels like it's drowning in thoughts, and I need someone to throw me a lifeline."Hey, Luna," she answers on the second ring. "You sound stressed.""I am," I admit, pressing the phone closer to my ear. "Can we meet up? I need to talk to someone.""Of course. Meet me at the Neon Nights—you know, that casino place all the campus kids go to. You need to unwind, and you have to fill me in on what Jaxton said."I know she's going to bring that up, and of course I'm going to fill her in, but a casino doesn't exactly sound like the place for a heart-to-heart. Still, Cassie knows me better than anyone. "Okay. I'll be there.""Good. And Luna? Try to relax on the way over, alright?"I hang up and hail a cab. My thoughts drift back to Jaxton's words: "I want you on my team." The sincerity in his voice, the way his teammates welcomed me without question. It should make me feel grateful, hopeful even. But I don't want to join a different team
