Liam's POV

I told her I'm at the field through broken words, and true to her word, she appears within twenty minutes. I'm sitting on the grass, my head in my hands, when I hear her footsteps approaching.

"Hey," she says softly, settling down beside me in the blink of an eye.

I look up at her, taking in her concerned expression, the way she's clearly rushed over without bothering to fix her hair or change out of her practice clothes. Even in her hurried state, she's beautiful. More than that, she's here. Despite everything I've put her through, she's here.

We sit in silence for a while, both of us staring out at nothing in particular. The quiet isn't uncomfortable—it's the kind of silence that says more than words can.

"I heard from Cassie what happened," she finally says. "I wanted to make sure you were okay." She pauses, then adds quietly, "I know I'm upset with you about... things. But I never wished for something like this to happen to you."

Her words hit me like a punch to the gu

Luna's POVI've been getting better over the past few days, and today I finally feel strong enough to go back to the field. It's been three days since the incident. The doctors said I'm healing well, but I still have to be careful not to overexert myself. As I walk slowly toward the field, taking my time because my head still feels a bit dizzy sometimes, I'm thinking about how good it will feel to see my teammates again. I'm also nervous about facing everyone after what happened, but I know I can't hide away forever.I'm about halfway to the field when someone suddenly steps out from behind a parked car and blocks my path. I stop walking and look up, immediately feeling confused and a little scared. It's a man I recognize, though it takes me a moment to place where I've seen him before. Then it hits me—he's Liam's father. I remember his face clearly from that night when I went to Liam's house. My first instinct is to turn around and walk away as quickly as possible. Something about th

  • Rejected and Claimed By The Alpha Hockey Stars    Chapter 62

Luna's POVMy eyes flutter open slowly, and immediately I feel a sharp pain shooting through my head. The pain is so intense that I have to squeeze my eyes shut again for a moment before trying to open them once more. When I finally manage to keep my eyes open, I look around and realize I'm lying in a hospital bed. The room is white and sterile, with the familiar smell of disinfectant filling my nose. There's an IV drip connected to my arm, and I can hear the steady beeping of machines around me.I turn my head slightly, wincing at the movement, and see Cassie resting her head on the bedside table. She's sleeping, but even in her sleep, she looks exhausted and worried. Her hair is messy, and there are dried tear stains on her cheeks.I clear my throat softly, trying to get her attention without startling her too much. The sound immediately wakes Cassie up. She lifts her head and looks at me with wide eyes. The moment she realizes I'm awake, tears start streaming down her face again."

Dominic's POVThe two of them start shaking as they look at me with fear in their eyes. Sarah's tears are flowing freely now, and Jack keeps wiping sweat from his forehead even though it's not that hot."Please don't kill us," Sarah pleads, her voice breaking. "We're sorry. We didn't mean for it to happen.""Please, Dominic," Jack adds, his voice trembling. "It was an accident. We never wanted Luna to get hurt."I stare at them for a long moment, letting their fear sink in. Part of me wants to make them suffer the way Luna is suffering right now, but I know I can't cross that line."I won't kill you," I finally say, my voice cold and controlled. "I'm not as wicked as you two are. But I'm going to make sure you get a taste of your own medicine."I shift the car into park and turn off the engine."Get out," I command. They both scramble out of the car quickly, clearly afraid to make me wait. I follow them, taking my time."Walk to the field," I tell them, pointing toward the track that

Dominic's POVI return to the field with Alex and Liam after our meeting with the lawyers about the lawsuit. The legal situation is complicated, but we managed to work out some preliminary agreements that might help resolve things. I'm actually feeling somewhat optimistic about finding a solution. But the moment we step onto the field, I can tell something is terribly wrong. The scene in front of us is complete chaos. Equipment is scattered everywhere, benches are overturned, and most shocking of all, not even half the team members are present. Coach Margaret had specifically told everyone to be here by evening for an emergency team meeting."What the hell happened here?" Alex mutters beside me, looking around at the chaos. The few teammates who are still here are sitting in small groups, and they all look shaken. Some of them are crying. Others are just staring at the ground with blank expressions.Coach Margaret walks closer to the remaining team members, his face showing concern an

Luna's POVWe all sit down on the field, including the boys and girls, waiting patiently for Coach Margaret. The only thing I'm grateful for is the fact that Dominic, Alex, and Liam are not here. They followed the coach out earlier for some meeting about the lawsuit. I don't know if that's good or bad for me right now, but at least I don't have to deal with the complicated feelings I have about them on top of everything else. Some of my teammates keep pointing fingers at me for always being a mess to the team. I can hear them whispering behind their hands, and when I look up, I catch several of them staring at me with angry, frustrated expressions. Their looks make me feel small and ashamed."This is all because of her," I hear someone mutter."I can't believe we're in this situation," another voice adds.I still can't believe what is happening is actually happening. The lawsuit feels like a nightmare I can't wake up from. I can't stop crying about why my life is always so messy. The

Luna's POVThe next morning, I get ready for school with yesterday's events replaying in my head over and over again. I can't shake the thought of what Lily told me, and I definitely can't forget my encounter with Dominic, especially that kiss. But I try to focus on getting through another day.I walk into the classroom and immediately spot Cassie sitting. The moment she sees me, she screams out my name so loudly that it surprises the whole class. Everyone turns to look at us."Luna!" she screams again."Keep it calm, Cassie," I tell her, feeling my cheeks burn with embarrassment as all eyes are on us.But Cassie doesn't seem to care about the attention. She jumps up from her seat and drags me over to sit beside her. "You need to give me all the details of everything that happened yesterday," she demands, her eyes wide with curiosity. Her question makes me remember the kiss instantly, and I feel my face flush with heat. The memory of Dominic's lips on mine, the way my whole body respo
