Luna's POV

I walk into the karaoke bar expecting to find Cassie and maybe a few other friends, but what I find instead takes my breath away. The entire place has been transformed—streamers hang from the ceiling, balloons bob in every corner, and a large banner stretches across the far wall reading "CONGRATULATIONS LUNA, OUR GOLDEN GIRL!"

The room is packed with people, some I recognize from school, others I don't know at all. The moment I step through the door, everyone turns and starts cheering. It's overwhelming and wonderful and completely unexpected.

"Surprise!" Cassie appears at my side, beaming with pride. She's wearing a sparkly dress that catches the light from the disco ball, and her excitement is infectious. "Do you like it? I may have gotten a little carried away."

I look around at all the faces, at the decorations, at the obvious effort that has gone into this celebration. "Cassie, where did you find all these people? I don't even know half of them."

She laughs, grabbing

Luna's POVI'm done. Absolutely done with falling for Liam's tricks or anyone else's for that matter. After everything I've been through—the suspension, the manipulation, the constant feeling like I'm being played by everyone around me—I've decided I'm not going to be anyone's pawn anymore. The encounter with Liam left me feeling more confused than ever. One minute he's cold and distant, the next he's trying to give me gifts and acting like he cares. I can't keep letting myself get caught up in his mixed signals. I have enough complications in my life without adding whatever game he's playing to the mix.I make my way across campus toward the athletic facility, my mind still churning with thoughts about Maya's disappointed face and Liam's confusing behavior. The afternoon sun is starting to dip lower in the sky. When I reach the locker room, I'm surprised to find it completely dark. That's odd—usually there are at least a few people in here at thi

Liam's POV I can see the exact moment something shifts in Luna's eyes when she turns around and sees me. There's a flicker of something—recognition, memory, desire maybe—before she quickly looks away. She licks her lips nervously, and I have to force myself to stay focused on her face instead of letting my gaze follow that unconscious gesture. God, she's beautiful. Standing there in the morning sunlight with her hair catching the light, even with that guarded expression she's wearing, she takes my breath away. Every instinct I have is screaming at me to close the distance between us, to pull her into my arms and kiss her again just like I did the other day. The memory of how she felt pressed against me, how she tasted, how she responded to my touch—it's been driving me crazy. But I made myself a promise after that night. I promised I wouldn't cross that line again, wouldn't put her in that position. And I definitely remember the sharp sting of her hand across my face afterward, the

Luna's POVBy the time I wake up the next morning, news about what I did to Alex and Dominic has spread through campus like wildfire. My phone is buzzing nonstop with notifications, text messages, social media mentions, and what feels like half the student body wanting to know if the videos circulating are real.I scroll through my phone, watching clip after clip of me smashing that cake into their faces. The satisfaction I felt yesterday has only grown stronger overnight. Seeing their shocked expressions frozen in chocolate frosting brings me an almost vindictive joy that I probably shouldn't feel but absolutely do.Some of the comments are calling me savage, others are saying I'm a hero for putting those two in their place. A few are criticizing me for making a scene, but honestly, I don't care. After everything they put me through when I was nobody, watching them get their comeuppance feels like justice. But there's something more important I need to take care of today. I scroll th

Luna's POVI'm still trembling from my encounter with Coach Margaret when I finally make it to the café where I'm supposed to meet Cassie. My hands shake as I push through the glass doors, the familiar scent of coffee and pastries doing nothing to calm my nerves.Cassie waves at me from across the table, her bright smile faltering the moment she sees my face. I weave through the crowded café."You good?" Cassie says as I collapse into the chair across from her. "What happened? How did your meeting with Coach Margaret go?"I stare down at my hands, still processing everything that just transpired in his office. The way he knew about my search for my parents, the predatory look in his eyes, the bargain he offered—it all feels surreal, like something out of a nightmare."I'm going back to the Timber Wolves," I say quietly, the words feeling foreign on my tongue.Cassie's coffee cup freezes halfway to her lips. Her eyes widen in shock. "What? Luna, I don't understand. Just yesterday you w

Luna's POVI'm sitting in class, trying to focus on the Professor's lecture when my phone starts buzzing against my leg. I glance down discreetly and see Coach Margaret's name on the screen. My heart immediately starts racing.I let it go to voicemail, but the phone starts buzzing again almost immediately. This time, I can see several of my classmates glancing over at me with annoyed expressions. The Professor pauses mid-sentence and looks directly at me."Miss Luna, is there something more important than this phone ringing that requires your attention?"Heat floods my cheeks. "I'm sorry, Professor. It's just…"The phone buzzes a third time, and now the entire class is staring at me. The Professor sighs and gestures toward the door."Perhaps you should take that call outside."I gather my things quickly, mortified by the attention, and slip out. The moment the door closes behind me, I answer the still-ringing phone."Coach Margaret?""Luna, finally," his voice sounds urgent, almost br

Luna's POVI stand in front of the mirror in my bedroom, adjusting my sweater for the third time. I've chosen something casual but nice—I want to look put-together without seeming like I'm trying too hard. Today is important, and I need to make a good impression. The trip to St. Catherine's Home for Children takes longer than I remember, but then again, it's been years since I've been back. The familiar red brick building comes into view, and I feel a mix of nostalgia and nervousness wash over me. This place shaped so much of my early years, and returning here as an adult feels surreal.I grab the bags of gifts from the backseat—toys, books, art supplies, and treats that I carefully selected yesterday. Whatever answers I might find here today, I want to give back to the place that gave me a foundation when I had nothing.I pay the driver off.I step forward and hear the familiar sound of children's laughter echoing from somewhere inside. After a moment, the door opens to reveal the ma
