~Xyana~
Mona comes to pick me up just as she promised. Today is my day off and I'm practically in the mood for all the mischief she has planned out for us. We head over to the garage that houses Dion's car and we take one of his cars, with Mona behind the wheels since I can't drive. I didn't go down for breakfast in the morning because I wasn't sure I had to strength to face Clifton or any of the Howling brothers at that. Oona would have made the atmosphere less awkward. But since she started her term paper, she left for school much earlier. So she eats before any of us. And with her schedule after school well planned by her nanny, I wasn't sure it was a good thing to disrupt any of that. At least until her papers are over. Since I have my own worries to take care of anyway. While Mona is driving us to the town center, I spot Declan walking down to the pack house, his body glistering under the scorching sun. "I need to~Xyana~ Our car stops at a nice restaurant a moment later. "Wow!" I let out a breath when I see the beautiful building the restaurant is housed in. Gurreo-Valley is such a beautiful place and maybe the Alpha has a rule in place that prevents store owners from erecting shabby shop buildings because that might be the only reason I haven't seen the type of shops we have back at Black-haw pack. "Aren't there smaller-looking shops here in Gurreo-Valley?" I ask Mona. "Of course there are." She points to very beautiful shops in front. But that's not what I mean by small. "I mean, shops opened in old-looking buildings?" She shakes her head. "The Alpha makes sure the buildings are up to the architectural plan of the pack and he renovates them every five years. Might be lesser at times. Even smaller roadside stalls are regulated to pass certain set rules." "I've noticed," I reply, nodding my understanding.
~Xyana~ When we were done shopping, the trunk of our car wasn't enough to contain the shopping bags, so we had to move the ones I got for Mona to the back seat of the car. Once we get down from the car and the guards around the garage see the contents of the trunk, a couple of them get into action by helping out with moving them upstairs to my room. Mona is in a hurry to get back home after receiving a phone call from her brother. So I told one of the guards to take her home, and he did! 'Trying out my power as the Beta female.’ Oh wow! It is so late. We were even the last people to leave the 'Cleave Boutique' in the town center. I had no doubt they stayed open way past their closing time. But they had lots of fine stuff that it was so hard to actually choose. I made Mona get lots of nice stuff for herself, and she was super excited and appreciative. We bought a couple of outfits that we plan on twinning together wh
~Xyana~ Overwhelmed by Clifton's sudden closeness, I jump out of my seat and take a step back. Still, he takes a step closer to me. Looking back up at him defiantly, I take another step back. I almost break into a panic, but he smiles and shakes his head. "You don't have to be scared, Baby. I won't hurt you physically." "But your wolf will." I voice out before I can stop myself. "He would never hurt you." He says tenderly, closing the gap between us. He wants you more than anything. I'm afraid he wants you too much that if I stay around as much as I want to, he might damn the consequences and mark you, even though he shouldn't just yet." He finally eases away from me and goes back to take his seat with a sigh. In his absence, I regain my equilibrium and slowly walk back to my seat. "Tell me what you want, Baby." He says, focusing his gaze on me. "Why is everyone worried about your Wolf, Clifton?" That is at least the top question on my mind. He's silent for a while. Then a switc
~Xyana~ Tranquility is not enough word to describe what I'm feeling streaming through me as Clifton moves his hands up to hold my face while he returns my kiss. I moan against his lips, wrapping my arms around his neck, and he moves his hands to the back of my head and down my body. He lifts me up and slams me against the wall of his room, beating out the little air I had still left in my lungs, his hands resting on my ass. His muscular abs presses against my body, making it impossible for me to think straight. I let him devour me, enjoying every second of it. He breaks the kiss to move his lips along my jawline and further down to my neck. I claw down onto his shoulders, throwing my head back against the wall, my heart beating so fast, risking suffocation. Suddenly, a warm sensation of surrender streams through me and I knew instantly that it's all coming from Clifton. I can feel his emotions and he's already surrende
~Xyana~ "Are you alright, Xyana?" Gaston repeats his question; his voice laced with worry and strangeness. "Mhmm," I nod, wishing he would just go away so that I can peacefully continue to my room. "You don't look okay." He insists, taking a step towards me. "Gaston, I'm... I'm... fi...ne." I tell him, my voice a bit unsteady and my words, not so coherent. Gaston is now close to me and he's staring at me, his gaze darkening as if he's mad at me or someone. When he stares a little longer and our gaze finally meets, his expression morphs, losing its worried traits. "Xyana," he calls again, my name rolling off his tongue like it's a euphoric drug. "Did he hurt you?" He didn't have to mention a name; we both knew who he was talking about. "No," I manage to let out. "Did you guys fight?" "Not really," I reply, clearing my throat so as to sound less husky. Then I bite my bottom lip as his closeness and his scent wash all over me. 'Let's ask him to claim and mark us. You want him
~Gaston~ I spent the entire night asking myself if I am insane. What have I done? It's a fact that I'm lusting after my brothers' mate but what I did last night is pure madness from my end. I had watched her leave the pack yesterday in the company of Claret and I was still up when she got back. I couldn't go to sleep, not without being sure of her safety. I had to text Claret at some point, and she confirmed they were fine and were heading back home. I shouldn't have been as bothered as I was yesterday. Claret can take care of Xyana in all aspects. She's a strong she-wolf who I trust so much that I put Xyana in her care. It isn't just about the sports center. The Ardbrys have proven themselves over and over again to my family. Her brother Gideon is my step-in Beta on days Clifton isn't around to help. And he personally trained Claret in combat. Yet I stayed up all day until Xyana came home. When I caught sight of her through my office window in that pretty little dress, Drea almo
•~BLACK-HAW PACK~• ~Alpha Kedar~ I can hear the sheer exhaustion in Gamma Reeder's voice as he narrates that a few more members of my pack are nowhere to be found. "Fuck!" I exhale noisily. Leaning backward, I stare at the smooth, polished wood of my office desk with bleary eyes. I clench the phone a little tighter as grave fear envelopes me. Members of my pack are not disappearing into thin air, they are leaving the pack. I still don't understand why anybody would wake up and decide to leave their pack. Why would anyone choose to be a rogue werewolf instead of staying back in their pack and having a name and an Alpha to protect them? "Who are the ones that left?" "Livington and his entire family. Their house is completely empty," comes the flat response. "Fucking hell! Why would Maddox Livington, of all people, elope with his entire family!" I snap. Reeder sighs, "his youngest daughter had a fierce argument with Oksana's sister and she threatened to report the matter to O
~Alpha Kedar~ "You did what?" My Grandmother is screaming. "What did you do, Kedar!" She turns to my Mom, who is already standing and fidgeting. "Do you know about this, Ceci?" Mom shakes her head. Of course, she doesn't know. I didn't tell her. "I thought... I thought it would be best for our pack to be under Zegulf's protection, Grandpa. His pack is the most feared and being under his protection means my pack is untouchable." I try to explain. Grandpa Salazar is shaking his head regrettably and his wife is tapping him behind. "I am disappointed in you, Kedar." He says, and I'm just so confused by his outburst. What exactly did I do wrong? War is looming and I have to protect my pack. I did what any sensible Alpha would do. "I did what any sensible Alpha will do, Grandpa. I protected my pack." "Shut up!" Grandma Evelyn yells at me. "Didn't you learn anything from your late father? What in the goddess name do you think you're doing? Black-haw Pack has been on good terms with Gurre

Alpha," I call my brother. "We need to talk in private," I added, casting a side glance at the intruder in the room; Zegulf Landerman.Gaston nods and clears his throat. Then he directs his attention to Zegulf. "Alpha Zegulf," he calls. "I'll need you to excuse my brothers and me."Zegulf tsks, "You're not trying to get rid of me, are you?"Gaston shakes his head. "I will never do that." Suddenly, Gaston pauses and arches his brow. "Did you get the witch?" He asks.Zegulf clenches his teeth tight and shakes his head. "Do you still have yours?"
~Clifton~"Who are you?" Declan asks the man who just walked in."Azzarus Fennom. Your late mother's only brother." He replies.Even though we are shocked to the bones because we had no idea Mama had any living family members, we can't help but agree that the man was possibly related to our late mother. He is a replica of our mother, so much so that he speaks like her even. It's like seeing our mother as a man."What are you doing here? You never showed up for your sister. Not while she was alive, not when she died, never. So why are you here now?" I ask the man."Clifton," Gaston calls me, but I shake my head. "He has a mouth, let him answer for himself, Alpha.""But we don't have time!" Gaston snaps. "Xyana doesn't have the time."Gaston's statement was enough to get me to finally ignore the man who calls himself my uncle."So, what can you do, u.n.c.l.e?" Declan sneers empathetically. The man doesn't look hurt or fazed at our words. Instead, he walks straight to Xyana and grabs he
~Clifton~ "So, you're trying to tell us." I curve my index around, demonstrating my brothers and I. "You are trying to tell us that our mate got marked by a fuckin hybrid of an Alpha. Now she's going to die. And you!" I point at Gaston. "You! My brother, the man I respect and call my Alpha. You knew Zegulf Landerman marked my mate and you covered up for him? Fuckin Goddess! I've lost all the respect I have for you today, Gaston Howling!" Every single word that came out of my mouth at this point was from the depths of my soul. I'm hurting like I've never done before. I'm heartbroken. I can't believe I'm losing Xyana. Not after everything we've been through. I haven't been the best mate to her. But I love her, and she knows. I just– I was so scared that if I came too close to her, my feral wolf would hurt her. I was scared he would mark her. I was scared that I would hurt and disappoint my brothers. Also, I was scared of losing her if she found out what I had in me and decided she
~Gaston~ The tightness in my chest is unbearable. Is this how it truly feels to lose someone you love–. What? No. I don't think love is the right word. Isn't love too strong a word to use? Yet It feels like my world is crashing. I should have run to Crimson Pack and met Zegulf to have this conversation immediately after I found out. I've been on this investigation for the longest time. Speaking to a few allies and that had kept me on the phone most times. I got a vision about the prophecy of a Moon-made sometime last year and the night I saw Xyana, I knew that was my vision and the prophecy coming to pass. However, the prophecy wasn't clear, and I had very limited information on how to handle any of this. When I found out that she was mated to my brothers, I realized I needed more information than I currently have. Sadly, the information I sought didn't come as fast as I'd expected it to. "She can't die." Zegulf's shaky voice draws me out of my thoughts. "You could have ma
~Zegulf~Gaston takes a few steps closer to me but stops halfway. "They planned to locate the two most powerful werewolf packs, eliminate their Alphas, and turn their successors against each other.""And why would they do that?""Because..." He pauses and looks around before speaking again. "I'm yet to get the full details. But I'm working on it, I promise you.""Don't promise me shit, I don't need your promises.""Zegulf-""You want me to believe that it took you several years to find this story of yours out?" I cut him short. "You are a Warlock, Howling."He feigns ignorance like he doesn't know what I'm talking about. "Oh, don't look at me like that. I know what you are, and I'm certain you know what I am. It's just disappointing that it took you years to figure something as simple as this out. Looking at it, I believe it's your area of expertise. You–"He cuts me off with an acidic smile. "Oh, forgive me that I'm not as hot-blooded as you are. Forgive me that I take my time to fi
~Zegulf~When I finally step into my Pack's waiting hall. Gaston Howling and his brother were seated, waiting for me. Once they see me approaching, Gaston flashes that notorious sneaky smile of his. "Zegulf Landerman." He calls, extending his hand for a handshake.I'll be damned if I take his hand. I ignore him and ask instead; "what brings you to my pack, Howling?"He shrugs, "you know what. But that's okay. If you don't mind, I'd like us to discuss the matter that brought me here privately."My men have circled the room and my Pack's security toughened up. If he is planning on creating a sort of distraction, in order to sneak his warriors in, it definitely won't work.I wouldn't have let him into my pack if courtesy doesn't demand it, sadly. "Follow me," I say to him, moving ahead with five of my men following us behind. If Gaston Howling wants to attack me, my men wouldn't hold a candle to him because he would easily rip them apart piece by fucki
~Gaston~Clifton will ruin everything if we don't get to him before he acts. I had Killian confirm that Clifton's Aston Martin wasn't packed in his car garage. That explains why he left with the car. And knowing Clifton well enough, his only focus would be to rescue Xyana. So he wouldn't want to mess his opportunity up.That simply means he will wait till nightfall before making a move. That gives me less than six hours to stop him from being the reason this silent war between Zegulf and me will erupt into a physically unstoppable one.Rhenat is seated from across the room with Dion and Declan standing at the entrance. They are staring at me expectantly, wanting to know what I'll do.I tip my head towards the door. "I'll leave you alone for now," I tell Rhenat. "I need to speak to my brothers and find a way to stop Clifton from ruining everything."Rhenat nods. "Yes, Alpha. I will put a call through to you when it's done.""When what is done? Can the both of you be inclusive at least
~Zegulf~The marking is complete. At least, I think it is. But it doesn't look like she's breathing well. Her breaths are coming slowly, and I'm terrified that she might be dying on me. It's not supposed to be this way. The marking between Werewolves is supposed to be a beautiful euphoric experience. But I'm not certain it would be the same with a Moon-made. I stare at the Cabal and they stare back at me, confusion on their faces. 'Yes, I'm confused as well.' I whine internally. When I spoke to Kadila earlier about marking Xyana tonight, she told me to go ahead and mark her that her presence wouldn't be needed. Now I think I need her because I'm clueless as to what to do since Xyana is barely breathing. Panic is threatening to take hold of me as I mind-link my Beta, Xavier to bring Kadila over.I can feel all the little hairs on my body stand up as if I’m inside some giant electromagnetic field. Pressing my ear to Xyana's fairly warm chest, I listen to the barely audible heartbeat
~Zegulf~I let Xyana spend the rest of her day in my room sulking. She had thought I would finally agree to let her go, but If only she knew that she was asking for the impossible. Letting her go isn't a sentence I want to be associated with. Not when the Moon Goddess gave her to me on a platter. I have a woman any Alpha would die to mark. A woman who can easily bring even the most powerful Alpha to his knees. It's sad that she has no idea who or what she is and how much power she holds.Towards the evening, the Alpha's Cabal, Roldolf, Ezra, and Thaddeus, arrived at my private chamber. I had the guards set up the room with a round table that would bring all of us together because I asked them to bring Xyana over as I wanted to introduce her to them.Xyana stops at the door, confusion shrouding her face as she stares from me to the three other men in the room."Come on in, Firefly," I call her fondly, waving at her.Slowly, she pushes her b
