Chapter 2
The resort was elegant with a large stone exterior and large windows that allowed you to see the slopes and mountains covered with snow. The interior had large beams across the ceiling along with chandeliers. The fireplace took up one whole wall, with overstuffed comfortable chairs circling it. The receptionist’s desk had a countertop that was cut out of the center of a tree, it was beautiful.
Twelve kids came on the bus that day. They were assigned rooms and allowed to enjoy the resort. When the other kids drive up on Friday they will start the outdoor activities, like skiing. “I have the room key, Melody, come on hurry up.”
The two girls ran up the long set of steps to their room. Bonnie took the room key and opened the door. “I want the bed by the window.” Bonnie yelled over to Melody then jumped on the bed. Melody jumped on her bed.
“These beds are so soft. It’s like laying on a cloud.”
“You’re right, Melody, I should get my mom to get one of these beds.” She then remembered that Melody has such a lumpy bed and slept in such a horrible place, and felt bad for what she said. “Why don’t you take a shower first.”
“Bonnie, come look at this bathroom.” The ensuite had a large shower with five different shower heads and could fit two people with ease. “We have our own sinks. One for me and one for you. With these special lights we can do our makeup without a problem.”
“That bathroom is as big as my bedroom. You get cleaned up and I will go unpack.” Bonnie took her turn in the shower and came out excited. “Let’s go to the indoor pool.”
“I can’t. Not today at least.”
“Why not? Girl, you are beautiful and sexy in a bikini.”
“Not after what Eric did to me.” She lifted her shirt showing all the bruises on her sides. “He came to see me late last night mad at me. He has done worse, but I can’t let others see them.”
“Someone should do something about him. It is not right he gets away with this shit. That shit has to hurt.”
“Like I said he has done worse, so has a lot of the pack. I am a werewolf, the bruises will only last to the end of the day.” Melody laid on the bed just staring at the ceiling.
“What are you talking about, you don’t have your wolf yet, it will take a lot longer than that to heal.”
“I don’t know why but my wolf has started healing me for the last month.”
“For real?”
“Yeah, remember when Dad broke my leg in two places? It was healed in a day. I promise, the bruises will be gone by tonight wait you will see for yourself in the morning.”
“I believe you. It’s great that your wolf is helping you. I got an idea. Put on your big baggy shirt, it will cover your bruises and unfortunately your bikini. No one will see any of your bruises.”
“I don’t have a bikini.”
“You are going to wear one of mine.”
“I can’t wear yours. My top is a lot bigger than yours.”
“Stop bragging. Get changed we are going swimming.”
There weren’t any other students at the pool. Thankfully it is just the two of them and they could talk freely, enjoying the water. “Did you get the scholarship to the Werewolf Anatomy Academy?”
“I got the letter Wednesday telling me they are going to pay for the whole thing. Be careful not to say anything to Eric or Dad. If they find out I am leaving they will cancel it on me, and I will be stuck here forever.”
“You know me better than that. I would never tell them a thing. I got excepted but I have to pay my own way. Mom and Dad said they have saved up for me to go. Are you kidding they are so excited I want to go past high school they took me out to celebrate.” Bonnie wanted to spend the next four years together with Melody away from the pack. “I am starving, time to get changed to get some food.” They ran back up the stairs giggling.
“This is a lot nicer than the pack dining room, smell that food.” Melody glanced at the tables and how beautiful it is. “This is going to be expensive. Can’t we go to a local McDonalds.”
“I got you Mel. Mom gave me spending money to pay for all the extras.”
“No, I got it. I have been working for five years at that pack. It should be able to let me have some fun.”
“No way. You work too hard for that money. I haven’t seen you spend a dime on yourself, not on clothes or food, nothing. I wish we were going away right now and never had to go back to that place. I already planned on covering both of our extras, I even brought all my savings. This weekend is on me. I don’t want to hear another word about it.”
“You are the best, best friend anyone could have. Thanks to you I am getting a taste of freedom.” Melody’s face dropped showing her sadness. “I wish I didn’t have to go back there.”
Seeing how sad Melody was getting, Bonnie changed subjects. “Hey, knock it off we have this weekend to enjoy. You being moody is not going to let us have fun. Let’s eat I am hungry.” Bonnie said each word firmly and slowly to get her point through.
Friday morning Melody slept in. When she opened her eyes, Bonnie was standing by her bed holding a plate of pancakes with a candle in it. “Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you. Happy birthday dear Melody.” She then set a fancy wrapped box on her lap. “Here this is for you. Open it before you eat your breakfast.” Melody blew out the candle then started unwrapping the box.
Her eyes got so large, and tears formed in them. There was a gorgeous dress that was made of a shimmering material that reflected the sunlight coming though the curtains. The dress was full length and cream colored. The color went perfect with her dark brown hair and complexion. “You didn’t have to do this; it is too much.”
“There is a dance tonight and you need something special.”
“I have the dress you gave me for Christmas. You’re spending too much money on me.”
“That isn’t good enough for a party like this. I want everyone to see just how beautiful you are. Don’t worry so much, this was Mom’s idea, she helped me pick it out. Look she even got you matching shoes.”
Melody wiped away her tears and smiled. “You have the best parents.”
“You do know my mom and dad would take you in, the beta won’t allow it. He said it would ruin his image. Asshole.”
With a slight nod of her head, Melody answered. “I know he hates me and doesn’t want me to have any love at all.”
“I don’t understand him at all. You haven’t hurt him it was her.”
“If him being this mean to me eases some of his pain or my brother’s I guess it’s worth it. I am helping them somehow.”
Bonnie closed her eyes to calm down. She hated seeing the tears in Melody’s eyes. “We need to eat there is a lot to do today. You don’t want to run out of energy in the middle of all the fun.” Bonnie elbowed her and gave her a grin.
An hour later, both of them were on the ski slopes with the rest of the group. The other kids for once didn’t give her a hard time. Some of them even talked to her and Bonnie like they were friends. After a long morning on the slopes the group came inside to warm themselves by the fire. “Melody, why don’t you sing that song you sang on the bus. I told Jenna how beautiful you sound.”
Bonnie gave her a slight push on her shoulder. “Go ahead, your voice is beautiful.” Melody put her cup of hot chocolate down and sang for the group.
The girls all praised her singing. “Mel, I never knew you could sing. Your voice is better than Whitney when you sing her song.”
“That is our cue to go change. We will see you at lunch.” Bonnie got up pulling Melody with her. As they started up the stairs Bonnie’s phone rang.
“I will go to the room first.” Melody left her standing there as she went up the stairs. Her brother Eric came in the front door with Drew the future Alpha.
Drew lifted his head sniffing he air. “Do you smell that?” He searched the place with his eyes. Then he saw Melody running up the stairs. His wolf yelled mated in his head. Drew got a grin on his lips. He whispered something to Eric. Eric turned stunned looking back at Drew.
After lunch Melody and Bonnie went to their room to rest for the dance that night. “This has been the best time of my life. The kids aren’t making fun of me and some even seem to like me.”
“This is what it is going to be like when we go away for school. Mel, you will have boys going after you and girls will be jealous.”
“I can’t wait, six months and I am free.” The bright smile on Melody’s face showed how happy she was.
“We should get ready for the dinner dance. You are going to blow all their minds tonight.” Then Bonnie whistled as she held up Melody’s dress.
“Things will change tonight; I saw Eric downstairs. He will get them all started again. It might be better if I stay here and skip the party before I mess up your night.”
“It is you and me girl. The hell with the rest of them if they want to act stupid. It’s your birthday don’t let them get to you.”
“That’s not the problem. I don’t want to ruin your senior trip. He will start and we will have to leave early.”
“Only thing going to ruin this evening is you not being there with me. Come on don’t waste that dress. No matter what Eric says the boys are going to drool over you in that dress.”
“You have to promise if they start, and I want to leave you will stay and make the boys drool over you. I love your dress too.”
“I will promise to think about it. Let’s get ready.” As the girls entered the private banquet hall everyone in the room stared at them. “I think I might of made a mistake. You look so good in that dress I won’t get a chance with any of the guys tonight.”
“Who are you kidding? The way you look in that dress. Blue is your color. The way the material hugs your curves, and the style shows off your cleavage. I don’t stand a chance.”
No sooner did they sit down, several of the guys walk over and ask them to dance. Drew watches her from outside the patio doors. He waited until Bonnie was not around Melody and went over to talk to her. “Can I have a few words with you?”
“What can I do for you, Alpha Drew?”
He leads her out on the patio where Melody can’t see them. “Melody is my mate. I want to surprise her tonight and spend some time alone with her.”
“Is this some kind of joke you and Eric cooked up to embarrass her? I will not let you hurt her.”
“She is my mate; I would never hurt her. I want her in my life forever.”
“You’re not lying to me, are you? You really want her as your mate?”
“Yes, Bonnie, I promise. She is sweet and after watching her here tonight I can’t get her out of my mind. Even my wolf won’t stop howling in my head.”
Bonnie is a little reluctant at first until Drew puts his hands together like he is begging. The sight makes her smile. “I can bunk in another room tonight. Be nice to her, you hear me.”
Drew nods his head and sneaks off to meet Eric. “If my dad calls tonight tell him I am asleep and don’t bother me.”
“Are you sure this is what you want to do? You know what her reputation is.”
“She is my mate, I want to have some fun with her tonight.”
“I’ll see you in the morning.” Eric goes to his room while Drew goes to Melody’s room.
“Melody, it is getting late, I want to crash.”
“I’m with you. Between skiing and falling on the slopes I am tired.”
“Let me call Mom and I will meet you in the room.”
“Tell her I said thank you again.” Bonnie waves her off as Melody heads up to their room.
EpilogueFifteen years have gone by, there has been so many changes. Wyatt and Hailey are eighteen, Wyatt is in Alpha training. Hailey is following in Melody’s footsteps, becoming a doctor. On her eighteenth birthday she found out she can heal as her mother can. Anthony and Melody sat down and told them about Alpha Kevin and the other pack. Neither one wanted to leave their pack. Wyatt will become the alpha of this pack when he graduates. Dalton and Austin, the twin boys, are becoming the betas of the pack. The triplets, Hope, Sarah, and Phoebe are musical prodigies like their mother. Stephan has come to train Amanda’s twins and Melody’s triplets. He no longer does concerts anymore; he now has devoted his life to training the next generation. Oh, he has found out they are werewolves. He still decided to move to the pack. Melody’s biggest hope is he doesn’t find out the girls want to start a rock and roll band. Phoebe has one hell of a voice. They haven’t gotten their wolves yet, so th
Chapter 102Everyone was happy until a mind link interrupted Anthony’s fun. “Alpha, we have an Alpha Kevin at the gate wishing to speak to you and the Luna.”“We will be down in ten minutes.”“I’ll inform him, Alpha Anthony.”“Melody, I need you to join me at the gate. Alpha Kevin wants to talk to us.”“What could he want now?”“Your guess is as good as mine.” Melody and Anthony are standing at the gate, not wanting him to come in. “Alpha Kevin, what brings you here?”“I want to talk to you about your son, Wyatt, my grandson.”“Come to my office.” Once there Anthony gestures for him to sit.“Alpha Anthony and Luna Melody.” He sounds very formal. “I’ve come here on a mission of good will and hopefully a peaceful future. We all know that Wyatt belongs to Drew by blood.”Anthony growls at that statement and Melody puts her hand on his shoulder to calm him. “Hear him out before you kill him.”“I’ve not come here to anger you. I’ve come here for my pack. There are no heirs and never will b
Chapter 101Melody has been home for two days. On the second day, as much as Anthony hates it, he has to go to the office to catch up on the paperwork he didn’t do while he was gone. “Uncle Charley, I am glad you’re staying with her while I am in the office. I know the office is downstairs, but I hate knowing she is alone up here.”“I don’t mind sitting with my Little one. Go do what you have to do. I am right here.”Not long after Anthony left, Charley hears somebody whispering his name. “Care Bear.”He hasn’t heard that name in a long time. He looks behind him. “Hope!”“Hello, my Care Bear. I’ve been watching you. You need to go find yourself a mate. You should not live your life alone.”“I’m not alone. I have a family; my Little one is laying here in this bed.”Hope smiles at him, “You are a wonderful father to her. You would have been a wonderful father to our little girl. The Moon Goddess has sent me down to talk to you. Only you can save Melody. It will be your choice to save Me
Chapter 100The doctor comes out to the waiting room. Cameron nudges Anthony. “The doctor is here.” With Cameron’s help Anthony walks over to him. The doctor sees what shape Anthony is in then looks to Cameron. “How is Melody?”The doctor shakes his head then begins to talk. “By all rights she should never have been able to have the pups. I actually don’t know how she is alive. We went in and repaired the spleen and stopped the bleeding. We’re giving her blood now; it’s a matter of time to see if she responds. At this time, she is in a coma, I can’t tell you when she will come out of it, if she will come out of it. She has gone through a severe trauma.”Cameron shook the doctor’s hand. “Thank you, doctor. When can we go in to see her and the pups.”“The pups will have to stay in the nursery.”Hailey and Wyatt were getting checked out in the examining room walked out with Laurie and saw Anthony, they ran over yelling, “Daddy! Daddy!”Anthony hears them, looks down, and picks them up. H
Chapter 99Drew runs to the pack house to shift and dress. ‘What are we doing?’‘What does it look like we are doing? We are getting the hell out of here.’‘You take mate with us. I not going without mate.’‘Stop making me crazy. I am getting her now shut up.’ He grabbed his keys off the desk and headed to the bunker. “Open the door.” Once the guards opened the doors Drew grabbed Melody and started dragging her out to his car. “Drew, you’re hurting me. Stop.”“Shut up your coming with me and I don’t want to hear a thing.”Kevin reached for Drew to stop him. “Son, what is going on?”“The pack is yours. I’m taking what’s mine and leaving. You better do something the Council has men coming.”Melody is picked up and shoved in the car. “Drew, this is insane leave me here I will slow you down.”As Drew pulls off Kevin mind links the pack, “I’m taking over for my son. There will be no fighting or confrontations with the men that are coming. Allow them in.” He takes Bonnie’s arm. “Mind link
Chapter 98Eric enters Drew’s office, “We haven’t paid those mercenaries yet. It’s been over two weeks, and they still have the cars.”“Yeah, I forgot about them. Give them a call and put the money in the post office like we did the down payment. Make sure you tell them that they have to get rid of the cars someplace they won’t be found.”“I’ll call them now, the burner phone is in my desk.” Eric goes to his office “I’m calling to set up the rest of the payment. I want you to go to the same post office in San Jose. Remember you have to get rid of the cars. Drop them off a cliff into the ocean. I don’t care; I don’t want them found.”“Hold on, we weren’t supposed to get rid of the cars. The deal was to drop them off. You have also left us sitting here an extra four days. You owe us for leaving us here in this flea-bitten motel.”“Yeah, I know we are late calling we can give you extra for your inconvenience, but the job was for you to get rid of the cars.” “No, if we had to get rid o
Chapter 97“Good evening, ladies. Thank you for joining us.” Michael was all smiles greeting the three of them. The ladies didn’t respond with words they just nodded.Drew and Eric were waiting at the table for them. “Melody, you sit next to me.”Eric walked over to Bonnie, “You will sit next to me.” Michael took Laurie to sit by him. The ladies sat there not talking.“How was your day? There was a lot of stuff you had to put away.” None of them answered Eric.Drew punched the table. “Why is it when we visited that other pack you could laugh and sing, seem happy? That is what you are expected to do here, that is an order.”Melody straightens her shoulders getting ready to say something. When Laurie decided to talk instead. “You need to realize we are used to having all our family around us, this is a much more formal setting. Maybe if we could all be together then it would be easier for us, we have left our two friends and the pups behind.”Melody liked the way her mother was handlin
Chapter 96Not one of them said a word, not until the meal was done. Drew sets his silverware down. The desire he has for her is released. “Melody, you are beautiful even with the oversized bump, you seem to shine, like you are an angel. My angel and only my angel.” Drew’s last remark was said with anger and possessiveness. Melody didn’t respond to him, she sat there listening to his every word. “You haven’t said anything. Tell us what is on your mind.”“I am listening to you. I don’t want to miss anything you say. While I am here, I need to understand your rules.”“You will have your dinner meals with me each and every night. You will also sleep in my bed with me. If you do as I say and make me happy, I will allow you to have these pups. As soon as you are able, you will give me more of my pups. You will also have my pups until I decide you have given me enough of them.”“Drew, can I have a small request?”“You are asking for things already.”“I will soon be too big to even walk and
Chapter 95“Alpha Kevin, what is this place?” Melody looked around the space that was nicely decorated but dark there were no windows.“It is the bunkers that we keep our women and children in if we have a rogue attack. There was two of them. They must have rebuilt them, enlarged them into one and made them into a house of some sort. It has seven large bedrooms and two bathrooms, you can see the rest. The kitchen is stocked if any of you are hungry. There is also a phone to call for what you want.” As he said that the phone rang.Kevin snatched the phone up. “What do you want?”“Put Melody on the phone, Dad, now.”“Maybe she doesn’t want to speak to you?”“Either she speaks to me, or I send some sleeping gas down the air vents and take the pups out. If I have to go that far the pups will disappear.”“What happened to you, Son? You were not raised to be like this.”“She happened to me. This is all her fault, now put her on the phone.”“He has to talk to you, or the pups are going to di
