LOGINLydia Hale POV
"I must pick my own boy because Liam is my son, so you must use him to save the moonborn pup, Ms. Hale," Elder Healing Master Noah Raeken says, smiling with his old teeth. "My boy is the top young pack healer in the whole Lunar Healing Order, and you can trust him with your pack bloodline."
"Fine, Master Noah, I do not have time to argue while my little sister is dying."
"Do not worry at all, Bloodclaw Pack Heiress Lydia," Liam Raeken says, looking very big and proud. "I will use my pack magic and I will not let the Hale Bloodclaw Pack down."
"Just save her, Liam," I say, watching him walk into the Moon Healers Sanctuary room.
"Hey, Derek, why do you just stand there like a scared little wolf?" an old healer asks, tapping my shoulder in the back of the crowd. "You should tell the pack heiress that you have the true healing power, not that bragging boy."
"Yes, Derek, we all know your moon magic is the best in the Beacon Moon Territory," another old healer says. "It is a big shame that Noah uses his family name to push his bad son to the front."
"It is okay, grandfathers," I say, showing a small smile to the old wolves. "Saving a young pup's life is a holy thing, and it does not matter who gets the praise as long as Sydney Hale wakes up and runs in the woods again."
"Erica, go look at the pack records right now," I whisper to my Luna Handmaiden while the guards stand around us. "Find out who the best healers are in this Silver Fang Healing Center, and tell me the name of that quiet boy standing in the back who does not look at me like the others."
"Ms. Hale, Master Noah told us a big lie!" Erica Tate says, running back with her face looking very mad. "Liam Raeken is not a top healer at all, and he does not even know how to fix a small scratch on a pup!"
"My eyes are turning red, Erica, but I will stay quiet if Sydney gets better."
"The boy in the back is Derek of the Hale Moonfang Pack," Erica says, looking at her book. "The old wolves say his moon blessed healer hands are magic, and he is better than any old master in the Crescent Ridge Territory."
"Wow, he looks so young to have such a big name," I say, looking across the hall at him.
"There is more about him, Ms. Hale," Erica says, laughing a little bit. "You know Malia, the Luna Queen of Silvermoon Holdings? People say she kept this Derek like a weak little pet wolf in her den, but she just threw him away today to mate with Jackson Whittemore!"
"He is so strong and pretty," I say, shaking my head. "If he worked on his pack magic instead of being a silly girl's pet, he would be a great alpha. It is a sad thing he picked a bad path."
"Help! Help!" two young nurse wolves scream, slamming the sanctuary doors open. "The pup's heartbeat is going away fast, and she cannot breathe the air!"
"What did you say?" I yell, my heart going super fast. "Where is the master? What did you do to my sister?"
"We are so sorry, Ms. Hale," Noah and Liam say, running out with white faces. "The pup's blood is too weak, and we did everything our magic can do."
"Yes, the first spell looked good, but then her breath just stopped," Liam says, shaking his hands. "It is not because I am a bad healer, it is just an impossible thing to fix!"
"You stupid boy!" I scream, and I hit Liam right across his face with a loud slap.
"Ms. Hale, why did you hit my son—"
"Shut up!" I bark, my body shaking with big anger. "You told me you could save my Cece, and now she is dying!"
"Master Noah, speak to me right now," I say, looking at the old wolf with sharp teeth. "Is there anyone else in this whole Lunar Healing Order who can save her? If my sister dies, your family will face the wrath of the Hale Bloodclaw Pack!"
"There is... one wolf who might do it," Noah says, his voice shaking like a leaf.
"Who is it? Tell me!"
"Derek Hale."
"Yes! Get Derek right now!" I shout.
"Derek is just a low wolf in my room, and he does not know anything!" Liam screams, holding his red cheek.
"Shut your mouth, Liam," I say, my eyes glowing like fire. "If you speak one more word in front of me, I will cut your tongue right out of your mouth!"
"You do not need to yell for me, I am here," I say, walking up to the pack heiress. "Saving pups is my job, but you need to stop being so mad and help me save your sister. Come inside the room right now."
"How dare you speak to Ms. Hale like that!" Erica shouts, stepping in front of me.
"I care about what is right, not who is a big alpha," I say, walking past them into the room. "If you do not like my words, go find another healer."
"Stay back, Erica," I say, watching Derek go. "His words are very sharp, but I am not even mad."
"Let us save this pup," I say, putting on my gloves inside the sanctuary.
Jackson chimed in with a taunting smirk, leaning across the table. "Lydia, my father is giving your keep first priority here out of respect for your bloodline. If you aren't interested, there are plenty of rival packs lined up outside Beacon Moon City waiting to purchase our premier establishment."Lydia falls into deep thought, her knuckles tightening under the table. While she doesn't personally care about owning a nightclub, she had explicitly promised it as a gift to me tonight. She hates the idea of looking insincere or weak in front of me."Elder Noah, one hundred and fifty million is far beyond market value," Lydia tries to negotiate, keeping her tone respectful. "Perhaps we can adjust the figure to something reasonable?"Noah smiles inwardly, believing the younger female is too inexperienced to handle territory dealings. He knows no sane pack would pay such a ridiculous sum for the club, but by anchoring high, he intends to pull an astronomical price from her pocket.Pretendin
I step through the arched iron gates of the Whispering Moon Woods, my wolf stirring restlessly under my ribs as the dark scent of scorched ash and copper blood hits my nose. Lydia Hale walks beside me, her golden fur-lined cloak sweeping against the dirt of the Shadow Creek Packlands. Deep within the shadow of the ancient trees, my black transport vehicle is nothing more than a melted frame of steel. Beside the smoking wreckage lies the broken, lifeless body of Kate Monroe. Two figures emerge from the thick shadows of the oak trees—Michael Hale and the sinister rogue elder, Bane."Kate is dead?" Michael exclaims, his scent spiking with pure, pathetic terror as he stares at the blood pooling in the dirt. "What kind of beast could have done this in a territory full of nothing but common pack omegas?"Bane silently crouches down, his long, dark claws tracing the jagged fracture along Kate's neck. He stands up, his face hardening as his yellow eyes flare. "She encountered a high-ranking A
Derek's teeth bared in a dangerous grin. "Now that is incredibly interesting to my ears. If your wolf has never run these trails and knows absolutely nothing about the geography of this valley, how did your tracking team manage to find the direct path to this hidden cavern within an hour?"Jerry stood completely speechless, his throat locking as he found himself unable to formulate a lie.Derek pressed on, his voice dropping to a low growl that made the guards behind Jerry lower their heads. "Don't bother making up excuses about your nose. The paths outside this cave are narrow, winding, and completely masked by ancient rogue vegetation. For a city-dwelling warrior who claims to have never stepped foot on this dirt to find this opening so easily, one might think your beast grew up running these exact trails."Lydia commented, her eyes shifting between them, "Derek, Jerry comes from a prestigious martial arts lineage in the northern keeps. He couldn't possibly be a common stray from th
"Blaming the pack warriors for your own absolute incompetence? Is that your twisted idea of battlefield leadership?" Jerry Keoghan turned on his heel with a cold laugh. "How I handle these lazy omegas is none of your pack concern, boy. Or does your stray wolf truly believe that getting lucky against Kate Monroe means your throat can survive a fight with me?""I ended Kate's breath with a single strike," Derek Hale replied calmly, his alpha aura keeping the horses completely still. "And while my beast could easily do the exact same to your neck, I haven't found a legal reason under the covenant to tear you apart yet. I just can't stand cowards who bully their pack subordinates instead of tracking the stolen goods. For a supposed supreme fighter of the keep, your wolf is pretty pathetic.""You must have an absolute death wish to speak to an elder warrior like that," Jerry growled, his golden eyes flashing as his fangs fully bared. "Do you have any actual idea who my bloodline is within t
An hour later, they navigated their way out of the dense thickets and located the perimeter of the Bloodclaw pack security team."My lady, thank the Moon Mother you are still breathing!" the warriors exclaimed, rushing forward with their spears lifted the moment they caught Erica's scent."What became of the masked rogues who ambushed our midsection?" Erica demanded, her voice regaining its noble authority."Master Jerry Keoghan arrived with the backup warriors and drove the bastards back into the canyon," Braeden Moon replied angrily, her clothes torn from the skirmish. "He even tore the throats out of a few stragglers.""Jerry came? Where is his wolf hunting now?" Erica asked, her eyes scanning the tree line.Just then, a heavily muscled, middle-aged warrior strode out from the shadows with dominant, purposeful steps, his axe dripping with black rogue blood. "My lady, where is Kate Monroe? I do not smell her presence near your carriage," he asked, his brow furrowing."Kate is dead,"
The tears she had been desperately holding back inside her wolf finally burst forth."Derek, I honestly thought your beast wasn't coming for me," she sobbed, her fingernails digging into his leather tunic. "Why did you cross into rogue territory for a rejected female?"Derek looked down at her with intense fury and protectiveness, his cedar scent wrapping around her like a heavy cloak. "Of course my wolf would hunt for you when you are in fatal danger. I would tear through the silver nets of the whole Blackfang Wastelands for you, Erica."Erica suddenly felt completely overwhelmed by the crushing weight of the eternal lunar bond, her eyes burning red as she pushed against his massive chest. "Derek, you are such a heartless alpha! Turn your head away because I refuse to let your beast witness my weakness.""And just so your alpha pride knows, my tears are not shedding for your sake!" she snapped, her voice cracking with exhaustion.Derek looked uncharacteristically flustered, his golden
Malia of Silvermoon POV "The Moonborn Refuge territory has so much magic pack power inside the soil," Scott Hale says, waving his arms around. "We must take control of those woods today!""I know you want that land for your own wolves, Scott," Talia Argent says, nodding her head up and down. "The
