The first of a double chapter update ... enjoy! Ellie xo
Elizabeth POV I looked at my hand and could not believe what had happened. Blood was dripping off my claws. “I could not listen to anymore from that bitch,” Ashley, my wolf, says through our mind-link. I am stunned into silence, “You are back?” I ask her cautiously. “I am fighting to come back, Elizabeth. You needed me so I was able to help,” she says as she quiets in my mind. I smile as I look at myself. My wolf is fighting to come back. But that does not change what just happened. I wash my hands of the blood dripping off of them. Just as I am about to walk out of the washroom the door flies open, “What the hell did you do?” Carter exclaims to me. “What?” I ask as my smile falters. “Why did Margie just run out of here with blood streaming down her face?” he demands angrily. I look at him like he has lost his mind and say nothing. He looks at me, “What happened to your face?” he says as if he is finally seeing me. “She hit me, so I cla
Alpha Carter POV I did not know how to fix this. “I do not know what to say,” I reply honestly. Elizabeth looks at me with nothing in her eyes. No recognition, no heat, no passion. Nothing. “So, you are saying that you could still reject me and take her as your chosen mate?” she says in shock. “No, I will not,” I say vehemently. “But you aren’t sure, are you?” she asks knowingly. “Because if you do not do as they say, you will lose your Pack,” she adds. I look at my mate with pain in my eyes. How do I admit to such a thing. “It will not come to that,” I promise her as I look at her. I can see in her eyes she does not believe me.She sits back down with a defeated sigh. “So, what else is there to do or talk about?” she asks. “What do you mean?” I reply confused. “Reject me now, before it is too late,” she says as I see tears fill her eyes. I feel emotion choke me as I start to comprehend what she is suggesting.“You are suggesting we just give up now?” I a
Elizabeth POV I do not know when I fell asleep, but I had spent most of the night planning how I would tackle learning the Luna role. I would get help from Kinsley. She was smart and had been helping me with my fighting. Albeit I had a long way to go, but I would continue getting stronger. She could teach me around our skills training. I looked at the clock beside the bed and jumped out of bed. It was already noon. I had wasted half of the day when I did not have that kind of time. I raced back to our room and slowly opened the door. Carter was nowhere to be seen and his scent was very faint. He had not slept here last night either. Looks like both of us got little rest last night. I quickly changed into my exercise shorts and sports bra throwing on a sweatshirt over the sports bra. I was still very self-conscious of the scars on my back. Most she-wolves did not wear a lot of clothes. I was not there yet. I did not know if I
Elizabeth POV Well, this was not well thought out, I consider as I look around. “You can say that again,” Ashley, my wolf adds. “What would you have done?” I demand of her through our mind-link. “I understand why you left, I am disappointed in Carter,” she replies assuring me I had been justified in being upset. “I also know you cannot trust that woman, and perhaps you should have stuck around,” Ashley adds, “But we are here now, and I will not leave you.”. That brings me comfort knowing I was not alone. I look towards the tree line and see a path I can follow. I start to walk in the forest, considering everything that had happened. The ups and downs with Carter in such a short period of time. It hurt me that he did not speak when questioned. I had expected to hear him speak up for me but all I had heard was silence. And that silence was deafening. Giving my head a shake, I realize I need to pay attention to my surroundings. Pa
Alpha Carter POV Getting up from my knees I look around the room. Most Elders are concerned but one is smirking his enjoyment, “Could your mate have just rejected you?” Elder Timothy taunts. I glare at him, intimidating the smirk off his face. “I highly doubt that. Now, I believe we were finished,” I say as I dismiss them all. Margie drags her feet leaving. I mind-link my Gamma to come and remove her from the premises. As he comes in, Margie recognizes him and understands why he is there. “Please Carter, I will be good. You can keep your filthy little whore, just accept me as the Luna,” she begs. I grab her by the throat pushing her against the nearest wall. The rage that takes over my body is barely controllable. I am vibrating with anger, and I see the fear on Margie’s face. I can feel my Gamma trying to reach me but my wolf, Max, has become impossible to control. “You ever speak of my mate like that again and I will rip you
Elizabeth POV As I trudge along the forest with Alpha Kyle, I wonder if I am doing the right thing. I do not know how Pack politics work. Am I safe here? Have I crossed into a territory that may not be friendly. What do they do with people who cross their borders? Am I considered a rogue? Will I end up in the dungeons? If I do, I will never get out. Anxiety starts to roll over me as I consider all the things that could happen. “Calm down, I can smell your waves of anxiety stinking up the air,” Alpha Kyle says. “I do not stink,” I reply angrily. “Can I help it if I do not know what you plan to do with me?” I ask him. “You should have thought about that before you crossed into my territory,” he reminds me. “Well, what are you going to with me?” I ask him. Knowing was better than guessing. “I typically put people who cross my borders in the dungeon for questioning,” he says as he smirks back at me. My heart sinks. I had been in the dungeo
Elizabeth POV I slowly turn around, anxious to see who is behind me. “Elder Timothy?” I question as I look at the man who had only hours ago expressed concern that I could not become Luna for the Crescent Moon Pack. What was he doing here? “Elizabeth. I am happy to find you in good health,” he says as he takes a step towards me. I take a step backwards towards where Alpha Kyle is standing. “What are you doing here Elder Timothy?” Kyle asks as he moves to stand slightly in front of me. “Alpha Carter sent me to pick up his mate. He could not leave the Pack as something had come up, so he trusted me with this important task,” he says calmly. I look at him confused. He was adamant I was not good enough to be Carter’s mate. Why was he here wanting to help Carter bring me home? “I am not going back to the Pack,” I say to Elder Timothy quietly. “Now Elizabeth, of course you are coming home. Carter is expecting you,” he replies. I
Alpha Carter POV We raced to the Bliss Moon Pack. I wanted to get my mate back and get things cleared up between us. Her effort to reject me startled me but did not work. I did not accept her rejection, and she would not know that was necessary. My heart is in my throat uncertain what to expect. “That’s odd,” my warrior who is driving murmurs. “What?” I ask on edge. “We just passed three SUVs going in the opposite direction as us,” he says as he looks in his rear-view mirror. “Maybe something came up, that Kyle needed to tend to,” I say distracted by what was ahead of me. We arrived at the territory gates and were advised to wait a minute. I was confused and stepped out of the SUV, with Stan and the two warriors in front jumping out prepared to protect me. I sigh, “What the hell is going on? I am here at the invitation of the Alpha and the Beta,” I say angrily. “They are both on their way here,” he replies to my confusion. Had
