Chapter 10

Author: Lilian Green
Ginny let out a cold snort. "You know perfectly well what your intentions were."

With that, she took Autumn’s hand and led her toward her room so the two of them could talk in private.

By lunchtime, Autumn’s eldest brother, Simon Lewis had returned.

He was dressed in a sharp black suit, his features defined and composed, with the calculating edge of a seasoned businessman in his eyes.

During the meal, Ginny personally picked food for Autumn.

Since she had spoken to the kitchen in advance, nearly half the dishes on the table were Autumn’s favorites.

Luna glanced at the spread and immediately lost her appetite, though she had no choice but to stay and eat.

After a few half-hearted bites, she set down her utensils and pulled out the necklace resting at her collarbone.

She smiled sweetly and said, "I have some good news. I’m in a relationship. This necklace was a birthday gift from him!"

Autumn’s hand paused mid-air, eyes flicking briefly to the necklace Luna was proudly showing off.

Her brow creased ever so slightly, but she quickly returned to eating, expression calm.

What a blatant provocation.

But Autumn no longer cared.

She didn’t even care about Julian anymore.

If he wanted to give gifts to someone else, it had nothing to do with her.

Susan’s eyes lit up as she stared at the necklace around Luna’s neck.

"That’s the limited-edition True Heart, isn’t it? There are only two in the entire country. It’s practically impossible to get, even if you have the money.

"Our Luna really is a lucky girl. What a wonderful boyfriend. I’m so happy for you."

Hector, who didn’t know much about jewelry, still chimed in with enthusiasm after hearing Susan’s words.

"Luna’s amazing, after all. She’s the little princess of the Lewis family. Only someone exceptional would be good enough for her."

Simon raised an eyebrow and placed a piece of fish on Luna’s plate.

"Luna, dating is great, but you two should plan a time to have him drop by for dinner. Let us meet him and see what he’s like."

Richard also looked pleased. "Your brother’s right. You young people can date, but it’s important to let the family get to know him too."

Watching everyone at the table, so full of joy, exchanging cheerful remarks, Autumn bit down on her lip and unconsciously tightened her grip on her fork.

They had no idea she was already married.

And even less of a clue that the man Luna was talking about was the same man she had married.

So here they were, beaming with excitement and chatting about that man, completely unaware of the storm brewing behind her calm facade.

The only one feeling out of place was Autumn.

Luna glanced at her, feigning cautious concern. "Sis, why aren’t you saying anything? Are you upset that I’m in a relationship?"

Autumn stayed silent.

Her hand clenched around her fork as she slowly lifted her gaze.

So, Luna cheated with her husband and now had the nerve to flaunt it in her face.

Did she expect Autumn to smile, clap, and maybe even light a firecracker in celebration?

Was she trying to drive her insane?

If it weren’t for the thirty-day cooling-off period before the divorce could be finalized, Autumn would’ve flipped the damn table.

She might’ve failed at being a decent person, but when it came to being shameless, she was a natural.

With that thought, Autumn slammed her plate and fork onto the table with a loud clack.

"I’m done."

Hector frowned in irritation. "Autumn, Luna’s talking to you. What kind of attitude is that?"

Autumn stood up, dragging her chair back loudly. "So, what, Luna gets a boyfriend, and I’m supposed to respond on cue?

"Fine, then. I wish them a lifetime of undying love, so they’ll be too busy ruining each other’s lives to hurt anyone else."

Luna had succeeded in getting under her skin.

Just because she’d kept quiet, they thought she was easy to push around.

But Luna knew exactly where to twist the knife, and now Autumn could feel the rage burning through her chest.

With a loud smack, Simon slammed his fork onto the table, his face darkening as he snapped, "Autumn, haven’t you caused enough trouble?"

Autumn stared at her eldest brother, the one she’d always looked up to.

A memory flashed in her mind—when their parents had just divorced, he used to take his allowance to buy her candy, gently brushing the dirt from her cheek as he promised he’d always see her as his only sister.

But that was long gone.

Now, he stood firmly on Luna’s side every time something happened.

"Not yet," Autumn said faintly, then gave a cold, mocking smile.

"I would always get blamed for speaking up. If I don’t say anything, I’m still the one at fault. You people are exhausting."

Simon went silent.

Right then, Ginny slammed her own fork down and stood up, her tone icy as she turned to Luna.

"Will you shut that mouth already? Can’t even eat a meal without stirring up drama.

"If you want to eat, then eat. If not, get out. No one here is interested in your little performances."

Tears spilled down Luna’s cheeks as she rushed to explain.

"Grandma, you misunderstood. I was just really happy and thought I’d share the joy while Sis is home... I didn’t know my relationship would upset her so much. I just..."

Hector quickly stepped in front of Luna, glaring coldly at Autumn.

"Autumn, just because Grandma always sides with you, you think you can bully Luna every time you come home? How can you be so cruel?

"She’s just in a relationship. What’s it got to do with you? Why the sour face?"

Smack!

Ginny slapped Hector across the face.

Everyone turned to her in shock.

Ginny’s voice was low but firm as she said, "Hector, you’re defending your half-sister and turning on your biological sister. You think that makes you noble?

"I really don’t get it. Luna’s only your half-sister. Why are you always so eager to protect her?"

Simon’s expression turned grim as he snapped at Autumn, "Autumn, Hector just got slapped because of you. Don’t you feel the slightest bit ashamed?"

He had come home for lunch only because Autumn was visiting, despite his packed schedule.

But now, faced with this mess, all he saw was a sister growing more disrespectful by the day, throwing tantrums over the smallest things.

Autumn let out a short, cold laugh. "Maybe he got slapped because he couldn’t keep his mouth shut.

"Brother, if you’ve got time, you should get your eyes checked. Clearly, your vision’s gone bad. You can’t even see what’s right in front of you."

But the other party dug in their heels, insisting George had acted with ill intent. With witnesses, physical evidence, and public opinion fanning the flames, panic had already swept through the community.George had sworn to his last breath that he’d been framed, but without proof, no one could clear his name.In the end, they’d had no choice but to follow procedure and lock him away.Autumn nodded, eyes rimmed red. "Yes. But my uncle really was framed. Can you give me your uncle’s number? I have evidence that can prove it."She could hardly bear to think about how her uncle had carried that injustice to his grave, never willing to talk about what happened and finding a reason to pull himself out of the shadows. The thought made her want to wring Jasmine’s neck. That woman deserved to rot. She’d lived free and easy for far too many years—it was time she learned what it felt like to lose everything. And Autumn intended to make sure she learned it piece by piece. At a red light ahead,

"Now I finally understand the saying—when someone’s got no shame, they’re unbeatable. Perfect match, those two. May they be chained together for life."Autumn gave Selena’s shoulder a light pat in comfort. "I’m glad you can see it that way. Want me to drive you home?"A man’s love could turn in a heartbeat, and only when a woman truly saw him for who he was could she break free and start anew. That was why a woman had to stand on her own two feet, built something of her own, and earned her place in the world.Selena dangled her car keys with a little smile. "No need. I drove here tonight. My brother bought me this new ride a couple of days ago. Want me to take you for a spin?"To make it up to her, her parents and brother had gone out of their way to treat her well. Anything she wanted, they did their best to give.Compared to Autumn, Selena was definitely the lucky one. Losing a scumbag still left her with a family who adored her.Autumn, on the other hand, had no one. That was why S

Sure enough, scumbags were all the same. Julian and Derek were two peas in the same rotten pod—every bit as shameless as each other. And this particular lowlife happened to be her best friend’s ex, which meant there was no way she’d just sit back and watch."You!" Derek’s veins bulged with rage, his words tumbling out in a near incoherent snarl. "You think you’re so righteous? You’re nothing more than a discarded wife a man didn’t want. What’s so great about that?"You’re an orphan with no sense of your place, and once you’re divorced, you’re nothing."Selena was seething. She never imagined the things she’d vented to Derek in the past would be twisted into a weapon for him to stab Autumn with. She couldn’t fathom how someone could be so shameless and still have the audacity to think she’d ever go back to him. Only if she’d completely lost her mind.At least now she’d seen Derek for what he really was, and just in time. Marrying someone like him would’ve been a lifetime of regret

"Looks like you’re a repeat offender—practiced to perfection. Tsk tsk… having fun?"She’d grown up as a pampered little princess herself, so there was no way she’d back down from Sienna’s petty provocations. It was obvious Sienna was the type to bully the weak and fear the strong, and watching her expression sour further only made her want to laugh.Julian frowned, about to say something, when the door opened again and Simon walked in, looking tired. The moment he saw Autumn, his hand on the door hesitated, but he quickly recovered.Autumn glanced at him once before looking away.Seeing him only reminded her of their mother’s death anniversary—how they had waited, hoping her two brothers would show up.And the result?Exactly the same as the past two years. Today, Hector had tossed out a few light words, as if that could erase what they’d done.Ridiculous.Simon acted as though he hadn’t seen her, striding past to Luna. "Luna, Hector’s out at a dinner. I happened to be free, so I came

Sienna struggled to yank her hand free. "Autumn, let go! You’re insane!"Autumn’s eyes swept over her, sharp as a blade. "Oh? So, you hit someone and think you’re in the right? You dish it out but can’t take it?"If I were you, I’d be holed up at home right now, finding the best lawyer I could to see if you even have a chance of winning this case."Not parading around like nothing happened and definitely not taunting your plaintiff every chance you get."Then Autumn leaned in, her voice dropping to an icy whisper. "You want me to drop the lawsuit, yet you keep mocking me over and over. The nerve."If you’re such a cheerleader for mistresses, then I hope one day your own husband leaves you for one. You’re welcome."As Sienna clenched her teeth and fought harder to break free, Autumn suddenly let go. Sienna gave a sharp cry and landed hard on her backside. The fall jolted through her spine, and her head clipped the edge of the table. The pain left her momentarily speechless. Autumn had

When it came to Autumn, Luna knew her well enough. She was quick-tempered, easily provoked, but lacking real ability.Word was Autumn only had a bachelor’s degree; with her mother passing away early, she never even pursued a master’s.Aside from a sharp tongue, she was useless in every other regard. Her entry into Vanguard this time was pure luck. She always had to rely on men to stay afloat, and Luna despised women like her the most.Autumn arched a brow. "Miss Lewis, and who exactly are you to me? Do you think you know me that well?"What a joke—mistresses passing judgment on the wife, and she didn’t even have the shame to keep it to herself.Though she no longer cared, that didn’t mean she would let Luna speak about her however she pleased.Luna frowned but quickly masked it. Autumn was just a clown, not worth her time.Selena let out a cold snort. "Two mistresses hanging out together… no wonder you’re both so good at stealing men. Turns out it’s a joint operation!"What’s wrong? B
