Chapter Twenty-Two

Miracle's POV

Leonel's piercing gaze fixed on me as I struggled to come up with an answer. The feel of his touch jolted my senses and my body was like candy in his hands.

"I can't answer that question because it's tricky," I cleared my throat and looked away. "How am I sure you don't want me to use this against me in the end?"

His face fell and he turned away from me, his shoulders tensing. "Is that how low you think of me? And is the money really all you care about?" he asked his voice heavy with disappointment.

Hurt twisted and turned inside of me. "What are you talking about? We signed a contract for me to be your fake girlfriend. Shouldn't we stick to that? "
