Prologue

I always thought it was stupid to cry over heartbreak and that my tears were too precious to waste on a man who doesn't deserve them?

But on Valentine's night, I got a taste of my own medicine when I caught my boyfriend, the bastard I showered with gifts and emptied my account for, in bed with an older woman who looked like she could swallow an 18-inch slice of pizza.

The laughter that used to bubble in my chest turned into sobs as my heart shattered into a million pieces.

My knees felt weak as I stumbled back, my hand covering my mouth in disbelief. The sight of him with another woman felt like a cruel joke, a sick twist of fate.

"Drake!" I shouted at the top of my voice and Drake, who was thrusting into his lover, turned around with a start and looked at me with wild eyes and his body glistened in sweat.

"What the fuck, Miracle! You… I thought you'd be here at nine," he stuttered, his eyes darting nervously between me and his lover.

"Who is she?" His lover asked, her gaze narrowing as she glared at me. Her hair was dyed a bright red that clashed with her loud, heavily lined eyes, glitter eyeshadow that extended beyond the corners of her eyes, and long, thick, false lashes.

Drake was cheating on me with a clown!

"She's uh…my sister," Drake lied, his voice shaking.

Whoops!

Last time I checked, siblings didn't exchange saliva, bodily fluids, or fuck each other's brains out. My throat felt constricted and there was a sharp pain in my stomach, making me feel nauseous and unable to breathe.

Earlier, I stood in front of the mirror, admiring my reflection. I had just shaved my legs, enjoying my silky smooth skin, held my Valentine's gift for Drake, a black biker jacket, and a bottle of perfume I bought with all of my salaries from working my ass out at the grocery store and having an empty account. But I didn't mind, I was in love.

My mini red dress hugged my curves in all the right places, and I felt confident and sexy. I let my cousin, Arielle, work her magic with my makeup, and I was pleased with the result. My man was worth every penny and every effort.

Straddling my motorcycle, I revved the engine and felt the thrill of the wind in my hair. I was excited to spend the night with Drake and my heart raced with a rush of excitement and anticipation. I had put in so much effort to make this night special for him, and I couldn't wait to see his reaction.

But now, I was his sister.

How convenient.

"Well then, send her out. Why is she standing there and glaring at me like a hawk ready to swoop in and grab its prey."

"Miracle, please, you have to go," Drake said, his voice urgent as he stumbled out of bed and reached for his boxers. The room was a maze of darkness, trapping me in its embrace. He came towards me, but I pulled away, tears streaming down my face. He looked at me, silently communicating for us to go outside. To my surprise, I found myself following him obediently.

"Don't be long, baby," his lover called out from the bed, a hint of amusement in her voice.

Once we were out of earshot, Drake grabbed my hand. "Why are you here early? And how did you even get in?"

"You bastard," I spat and slapped him hard across the face. "I'm supposed to be your girlfriend who has your spare keys. What's the difference between seven and nine PM?"

He kissed his teeth and his storm-grey eyes stared hard at me.

"You're despicable, Drake. I don't even know what I saw in you. Everyone warned me to stay away from you but I was foolishly in love with you. How dare you cheat on me with someone old enough to be your mother? This relationship is over!"

I thought he'd feel remorseful, but to my shock, he just stood there, stunned, before breaking out in a fit of laughter.

"What relationship?" he chuckled. "I never really felt a connection between us. You're boring as hell. You don't even know how to please a man, plus you're flat out broke. You can jump off a cliff and I won't bat an eyelid."

My heart shattered and a choked cry escaped my lips. The insults cut deeply into my skin and all Drake did was roll his eyes and run his hand over his spiky hair.

"Listen," he lowered his voice. "You're a good girl, okay? You're too good for me, but I'm sure there's a man out there for you. Please leave."

This bastard was my first boyfriend. He broke my virginity and taught me everything I knew about sex and intimacy, but now, all that was gone and he had the guts to call me boring?

"Drake," I cried, going to my knees. "Don't do this to me. I love you."

"It's over, Miracle. You're useless to me. Find someone else."

Heartbreak was fucking painful.
