The music was loud but that was the point. Now that I was here, I needed one more thing, locate the bar.

I pushed through people on the dance floor, they seemed to be having a good time.

What was there to be joyful about?

All I needed was alcohol, tons of it, bucket loads even.

I motioned to the bartender.

“Get me a vodka soda, make it a double please.”

Immediately he brought the glass, I downed the liquid in one gulp, feeling the burn slide down my throat.

“Sorry to bother but those things sneak up on you. I hope you’re not going to drive?” The bartender asked, eyeing me with mild concern.

“Just keep them coming. In fact send down another double vodka soda and a Long Island.”

The bartender raised his eyebrows slightly but he nodded.

“Okay ma’am. If you say so…”

He sent down the drinks and I downed the vodka in a gulp and turned on my seat, drinking the Long Island slowly.

I examined the crowd, a bunch of people having fun.

Their lives must be so normal, so much different from mine.

There was no way any of them could have buried their father, lost their inheritance and have their boyfriend break up with them in just 24 hours.

This day could not get any worse… in fact at this point, I am probably immune to any more bad occurrences today, I’m numb.

I tapped the table for another drink.

“Easy there sweetheart.”

I turned to the person speaking. It was a tall, handsome man with piercing eyes. He was dressed in a nice black suit, with his shirt unbuttoned a bit. He was leaning against the bar, looking at me with a smirk on his lips.

“Can I help you?” I asked, my tone laced with disinterest.

“Well, I was just wondering what a beautiful girl like you is doing all alone in a club and drinking like she doesn’t want to go home in one piece.” He asked.

I chuckled dryly.

“Whatever piece I go home in, is none of your business. And who said I don’t like going to clubs alone?” I shot back, making sure he could hear the sarcasm in every word.

He chuckled, never breaking eye contact. “Maybe you just haven’t met the right person to go to clubs with.”

I scoffed.

“And I presume, you want to convince me that you’re the right person… Just go away, I’d like to enjoy my drinks by myself.” I replied, I was getting tired of the silly banter.

“I’m the right person for a number of things..” he smirked.

“Gee… I wonder what.” I replied.

“You don’t have to wonder though, I could just show you.”

I nearly spat out my drink, then I turned to him.

Was this random dude seriously flirting with me? In this entire club with beautiful women probably already eyeballing me for having his attention.

He kept his eyes on me.

I sized him up, he was very handsome and he had this confidence around him. He looked like someone who knew exactly what he wanted and went for it.

He was definitely an upgrade from Tyler, he was hotter, knew how to banter and obviously had a flirtatious personality.

“You know what? Let me grab this next drink and if I still feel like it, you can show me whatever it is you want to.”

I grabbed the next Long Island. I gulped it down as quickly as possible then fished into my wallet for my card.

“Don’t stress, Jeffrey put it on my bill.” He said smoothly.

“I can pay for my own drinks.” I passed the card. “Jeffrey, put it on my card.”

This—this was the one thing in my life that I could still control, and I wasn’t about to hand that over.

As soon as I stood up, I understood what the bartender meant about the drinks sneaking up on me. My feet nearly wobbled but I held myself, refusing to look weak in front of this man as I followed him out.

I silenced the part of me that wondered if this was too reckless.

As soon as we got into his hotel room, I threw all caution to the wind.

I pulled him into a kiss, it was electric.

I didn’t know if it was the alcohol or the adrenaline rush from following a complete stranger but everything was extra.

It felt like my body was on fire.

Taking a bold step, I grabbed him closer, the fabric of my dress pressed against his silky shirt. My hands reached up and I tangled my fingers in his hair as I pulled him deeper into the kiss.

He responded almost immediately, wrapping his arms around my waist and deepening the kiss. Our bodies were so close together, it felt like we would be permanently melded together.

I felt alive, like every nerve of my body responded to this desire.

He pulled away but only to catch his breath, I had forgotten how to breathe. I looked into his eyes, his pupils were dilated and I could feel his heart beat in his chest.

I pulled him towards the bed.

“I promised to do the showing,” he murmured, his voice husky. “But it seems like you’re hell-bent on showing me instead.”

“How about…” I took off his suit jacket and then unbuttoned the rest of his shirt in record time. “…we show each other.”

His eyes darkened.

“I think I can make that work.”

He picked me up like I was a delicate flower and dropped me on the bed gently.

He took off the shirt and tossed it aside, baring his chest completely. I’d never seen a body like that, he looked like a demigod. His belt was off next, he kicked off his shoes.

Then he slowly took off the pants, and the boxers went next.

He stood stark naked in all his glory, he was definitely putting on a show

I gulped as he got on the bed.

My hand instinctively moved to touch his chest, it was made of raw taut muscles, his body was perfectly chiseled. Our lips found each other again, before long I was the one shocked at how good of a kisser he was.

He raised one of my legs and pressed himself closer to my core, with his kisses roaming around every nook and cranny between my lips, ears and then neck. He kissed the dip around my collarbone. His tongue rolled with precision.

“Mmmmm” I moaned

I had no idea he had unzipped my dress until I felt the cold air on my back. I moved so he could take the dress off completely, He worshipped my body with kisses and his mouth went lower and lower, as his lips moved, his hands took off every clothing in his path.

I had only ever been with Tyler and right now, I realized that he was mediocre in these aspects.

This man was doing things with his tongue and fingers that had me on the edge of insanity.

In moments, I was already moaning loudly, I could barely hear the words he was saying, just when I finally hit the wave. I exhaled.

But that wasn’t the end… I heard the familiar rip of the condom.

“Hold on, I’m already done.”

He laughed.

I blushed

“But we’ve only just begun…”

“Do your worst Ethan, I’m not scared of you”. I bluffed, my lips curled up in a smirk, with my jaw stiffened as we stood side by side. “Oh really?” He chuckled dryly. “You should know me by now, that I don’t carelessly throw my words around”. “We shall see about that”. He muttered, a snarling smile spread across his face as he turned carefully on his heel. “When will this enmity between you both stop?”“I don’t know what I have done to deserve this”. My mother wailed, throwing herself to the sofa in despair. “Bring it on Ethan, I dare you”. I fired at him, grunting and pacing angrily, my steps tracing a straight path. Just as Ethan was approaching the entrance to head out of the house, Ashley walked in. She paused her movement abruptly upon seeing Ethan, her eyes roaming all over him in shock, with her mouth aghast as she watched Ethan leave. “I blame you”, my mother faced my father, tears tickled from the corner of her eye socket. “You blame me? What have I done

“What?”My words got caught in my throat, my feet transfixed to the spot as I watched Emilia walk out on me. Shock washed over me like iced waves at the sight of how bold she had become. From the moment she pointed a knife in my face the other day, I should have known she had grown wings. What changed? What gave her the nerves to flout my instructions? Definitely, she had something up her sleeves. My eyes darkened with evil, my mind sketching and searching for answers. Ethan must have brainwashed her into this. I stood still watching, till her presence faded into the shadows. “Tch Tch,” I clicked my tongue against my teeth, my toes voluntarily stomping the ground. “I will get you, marry you, get my inheritance and divorce your silly ass”. My lips curled in a smirk as I muttered beneath my breath, my blood boiling hot with desperation. Just as I turned my heel towards the stairs to go get a bottle of Jameson’s Whiskey, the maid appeared at the edge of the stairs

“Welcome to Vida Café” The doorman pushed open the door, gesturing for me to enter, his face etched with a welcoming smile as he greeted. As I walked in, a sense of unease settled in my chest, a dull ache that lingered. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee and the lavender scents, did little to calm the unsettling feeling that pulsed my nerves. Was it the guilt of how Emilia will take the news that I was pregnant with Lucas’s child?Or was it about how the family dynamics would change? I couldn’t pinpoint what exactly it was, but this unsettling feeling wore heavy on my shoulders like a truckload. I suddenly paused my steps in the middle of the café, eyes shut tightly as moments with Lucas flooded my imaginations, silencing the wave of unease that had caged my mind.My excitement returned, eyes snapped open with a malicious grin spread across my face.Lucas is the man of dreams. The man I want to wake up to every morning. “Lucas is mine”, I muttered beneath my breath, my t

On getting back downstairs, my head began to spin, a wave of dizziness enveloped me. I leaned against the wooden banister to steady myself from falling.I needed to get to the pharmacy next minute, but in this state, driving myself there was far from being an option. I grudgingly swiped open my purse zipper, to get my phone to book a taxi. “Cling cling”, my phone chimed, my patience wearing thin with every second it took before the taxi driver picked. “Hello ma’am, where……”“Rite Aid Pharmacy, Wilshire Boulevard”. I impatiently cut in, stopping the driver’s words. “Oh, alright, will be there in 2 minutes.”I was already walking towards the entrance when the call ended. As I was about to take the final step out of the house, a voice called out from a distance, which halted my movement. “Ashley!”My mother yelled. “Shitt”, I froze, anxiety pulsating my veins. “Not now please”, I stood still shutting my eyelids, my brows furrowed in a scowl. “Ashley!”She calle

I swiveled my chair around, my gaze met with Donald’s elated face, a bright smile screeching from his eyes, revealing his sparse and irregular dentition.“You know you’re one of my efficient and loyal staff”. I cooed, my right index finger pointed at him in satisfaction, an impressive grin worn on my face. Donald stood still, his arms swung behind him, folded and pressed against the center of his lower back, just above the hip, his head nodding in agreement. “Despite the recent happenings here at the office, you’ve stayed true to me.”I continued, my elbows resting on the armrest of my chair, my hands upright with my fingers intertwined as I acknowledged his commitment. “You just got yourself a salary raise, which will be made effective by the end of this month”. “Oh my goodness”, Donald’s hand flung to his face, his mouth covered in his palm in surprise. “Thank you so much Sir”. “Thank you”, he uttered, appreciating my kind gesture.“You may leave now”, I instructed,

“Yes? Why are you blowing up my phone?” “Why the fuck are you calling me?” I snorted, my face twisted in a scowl, my brows furrowed. “Ma’am, I haven’t gotten any feedback from you since the operation was executed”. Ryder uttered, his tone low and husky. “You idiot”. I spat, my voice rising. “You had just one…” I paused, my eyes glanced through the kitchen, just to be sure no one was eavesdropping. “You had just one job Ryder”, I whispered, holding my phone really close my mouth. “Just to get rid of him and you screwed it up Ryder”. I stopped my words, then walked towards the door that led into the kitchen. I peeped my head out of the door, my eyes making a quick glance at the living room. Then I stepped back into the kitchen. “You’re fully aware that it’s because you came highly recommended.” “That’s why I hired you for this job”. “But you disappointed me, dimwit”. I smirked, my face glammed with disgust. “How do you mean ma’am” He asked, his v
