The music was loud but that was the point. Now that I was here, I needed one more thing, locate the bar.

I pushed through people on the dance floor, they seemed to be having a good time.

What was there to be joyful about?

All I needed was alcohol, tons of it, bucket loads even.

I motioned to the bartender.

“Get me a vodka soda, make it a double please.”

Immediately he brought the glass, I downed the liquid in one gulp, feeling the burn slide down my throat.

“Sorry to bother but those things sneak up on you. I hope you’re not going to drive?” The bartender asked, eyeing me with mild concern.

“Just keep them coming. In fact send down another double vodka soda and a Long Island.”

The bartender raised his eyebrows slightly but he nodded.

“Okay ma’am. If you say so…”

He sent down the drinks and I downed the vodka in a gulp and turned on my seat, drinking the Long Island slowly.

I examined the crowd, a bunch of people having fun.

Their lives must be so normal, so much different from mine.

There was no way any of them could have buried their father, lost their inheritance and have their boyfriend break up with them in just 24 hours.

This day could not get any worse… in fact at this point, I am probably immune to any more bad occurrences today, I’m numb.

I tapped the table for another drink.

“Easy there sweetheart.”

I turned to the person speaking. It was a tall, handsome man with piercing eyes. He was dressed in a nice black suit, with his shirt unbuttoned a bit. He was leaning against the bar, looking at me with a smirk on his lips.

“Can I help you?” I asked, my tone laced with disinterest.

“Well, I was just wondering what a beautiful girl like you is doing all alone in a club and drinking like she doesn’t want to go home in one piece.” He asked.

I chuckled dryly.

“Whatever piece I go home in, is none of your business. And who said I don’t like going to clubs alone?” I shot back, making sure he could hear the sarcasm in every word.

He chuckled, never breaking eye contact. “Maybe you just haven’t met the right person to go to clubs with.”

I scoffed.

“And I presume, you want to convince me that you’re the right person… Just go away, I’d like to enjoy my drinks by myself.” I replied, I was getting tired of the silly banter.

“I’m the right person for a number of things..” he smirked.

“Gee… I wonder what.” I replied.

“You don’t have to wonder though, I could just show you.”

I nearly spat out my drink, then I turned to him.

Was this random dude seriously flirting with me? In this entire club with beautiful women probably already eyeballing me for having his attention.

He kept his eyes on me.

I sized him up, he was very handsome and he had this confidence around him. He looked like someone who knew exactly what he wanted and went for it.

He was definitely an upgrade from Tyler, he was hotter, knew how to banter and obviously had a flirtatious personality.

“You know what? Let me grab this next drink and if I still feel like it, you can show me whatever it is you want to.”

I grabbed the next Long Island. I gulped it down as quickly as possible then fished into my wallet for my card.

“Don’t stress, Jeffrey put it on my bill.” He said smoothly.

“I can pay for my own drinks.” I passed the card. “Jeffrey, put it on my card.”

This—this was the one thing in my life that I could still control, and I wasn’t about to hand that over.

As soon as I stood up, I understood what the bartender meant about the drinks sneaking up on me. My feet nearly wobbled but I held myself, refusing to look weak in front of this man as I followed him out.

I silenced the part of me that wondered if this was too reckless.

As soon as we got into his hotel room, I threw all caution to the wind.

I pulled him into a kiss, it was electric.

I didn’t know if it was the alcohol or the adrenaline rush from following a complete stranger but everything was extra.

It felt like my body was on fire.

Taking a bold step, I grabbed him closer, the fabric of my dress pressed against his silky shirt. My hands reached up and I tangled my fingers in his hair as I pulled him deeper into the kiss.

He responded almost immediately, wrapping his arms around my waist and deepening the kiss. Our bodies were so close together, it felt like we would be permanently melded together.

I felt alive, like every nerve of my body responded to this desire.

He pulled away but only to catch his breath, I had forgotten how to breathe. I looked into his eyes, his pupils were dilated and I could feel his heart beat in his chest.

I pulled him towards the bed.

“I promised to do the showing,” he murmured, his voice husky. “But it seems like you’re hell-bent on showing me instead.”

“How about…” I took off his suit jacket and then unbuttoned the rest of his shirt in record time. “…we show each other.”

His eyes darkened.

“I think I can make that work.”

He picked me up like I was a delicate flower and dropped me on the bed gently.

He took off the shirt and tossed it aside, baring his chest completely. I’d never seen a body like that, he looked like a demigod. His belt was off next, he kicked off his shoes.

Then he slowly took off the pants, and the boxers went next.

He stood stark naked in all his glory, he was definitely putting on a show

I gulped as he got on the bed.

My hand instinctively moved to touch his chest, it was made of raw taut muscles, his body was perfectly chiseled. Our lips found each other again, before long I was the one shocked at how good of a kisser he was.

He raised one of my legs and pressed himself closer to my core, with his kisses roaming around every nook and cranny between my lips, ears and then neck. He kissed the dip around my collarbone. His tongue rolled with precision.

“Mmmmm” I moaned

I had no idea he had unzipped my dress until I felt the cold air on my back. I moved so he could take the dress off completely, He worshipped my body with kisses and his mouth went lower and lower, as his lips moved, his hands took off every clothing in his path.

I had only ever been with Tyler and right now, I realized that he was mediocre in these aspects.

This man was doing things with his tongue and fingers that had me on the edge of insanity.

In moments, I was already moaning loudly, I could barely hear the words he was saying, just when I finally hit the wave. I exhaled.

But that wasn’t the end… I heard the familiar rip of the condom.

“Hold on, I’m already done.”

He laughed.

I blushed

“But we’ve only just begun…”

“You came in so late last night, Ethan”.“What’s going on?” My mother asked, her brows narrowed in concern. “We barely see you around here”.“I’m a busy man, Mom”. “I have the Brook’s franchise and my company to manage at the same time”. “I can’t be found frolicking around”. I replied, adjusting my tie in front of the 7ft mirror hung on the wall in the waiting room. “Even at that, you need to take it easy”. “If I wasn’t seated here this early, I would probably not set my eyes on you until God knows when”. She uttered, her voice laced with concern. “Neither do you even wait to have breakfast before leaving”. “I usually have breakfast, Mom”. I defended, my expression blank as I adjusted my cufflinks. “But you are leaving now without having breakfast”. “Well, today’s a busy day at work” . “Emilia has been fired, so I have to double as the CEO and personal assistant, until I find a replacement”. I snapped, my anger settling in. My mother’s expression turned cu

I met Emilia’s door slightly open, just as I strolled down the corridor, back at my father’s residence. As I peeped through, I saw her zipping down her strapless emerald green dress, that hugged her skin. I sneaked in quietly and shut the door behind me. Emilia jumped at the sound of the door slamming against the door frame, fear gripping her soul. “What do you want Lucas?” She asked, her eyebrows blinking rapidly with anxiety. I walked towards her slowly, my footsteps clicking the ground. “Where have you been the whole day?” I questioned, my voice deep and menacing. “Somewhere that’s none of your business?” She replied, her voice quivery, taking steps backwards as I moved closer. “Wowww, you have some guts you know”. I muttered, beating my palms together, my brows furrowed. “Don’t you think it’s about time we start planning our wedding?”Emilia bent slightly, her hands reaching for her bed side drawer. “Your health is better, what’s stopping us now, wifey? “Benjamin has been caught sir”. Martel informed, his voice stern. “How? Didn’t you just say he escaped?” I asked, my face etched with confusion. “After we caught his boy, I sent some of my men to go after him”. “I just got a text from them that they caught up with him, and your goods have been recovered”. “Yes!” I exclaimed, excitement twisting my intestines. “This is great news”. My worries faded away. It felt like a burden was lifted off my shoulders. I knew if this goods weren’t recovered, that would be my doom. The buyers already paid fifty percent and with Ethan being in charge of the company, I won’t be able to make a refund. “Untie him”. I ordered, a snarling smile worn on my face. “You’re very lucky my goods were recovered”. I said, pointing a finger at his face. “If not, you would have been gone next minute”. I hissed. Now let’s move on to taking Ethan down and claiming what’s rightfully mine. I muttered inwardly, a wicked smile spread across my face.

“You’ve really not changed one bit”. A male voice whispered from behind, his breath soft against my skin. The vows had been taken, and we were now at the wedding reception. Jennifer and her husband were having their first dance together. Her husband’s hands hung around her waist, gently cupping her curves like a precious egg. Jennifer’s fingers rested on his chest, her eyes locked unto her husband’s in a loving gaze. He guided her in a slow and gentle sway, their legs moving in perfect harmony. The spotlight glowed on their faces, casting a warm shimmery light on their blissful smiles. Their bodies seemed to whisper secrets to each other, their love so palpable and intense. The world around them faded away, leaving just the both of them, lost in the allure of their first dance as man and wife. I stood a few miles away from the couple, a wine glass hung between my fingers, my body resting against the wine stand, my eyes mesmerized at the sight of love hung in the

As soon as I got back to the Brook’s residence, I walked hastily up the stairs, heading to my room. My face beaming with excitement, my mind pondering on what dress I could wear to Jennifer’s wedding. I was so lost in thoughts that I didn’t even notice the new maid was at the dining area, setting up the table, until her greeting jolted me from my reverie. As my door swung open, I did a little Cinderella dance entering my room. I twirled across my room, my feet barely touching the floor, as if I was floating on air, unleashing my child-like spirit. I stopped a minute later, dumping my bag on the dresser, before heading to my suitcase filled with my clothes. I scrambled through my dresses gently, my eyes patiently selecting the dress that was befitting. I finally picked my top three dresses that seemed like it could fit into a wedding theme. I picked the first dress, a flowy maxi gown with pink floral patterns. I pressed it against my body, standing in front of

I stormed into my office, slamming the door hard behind me, the bang sound echoing through the room.My heart panged with rage as I paced about my office, my breathing so loud that if someone stood next to me that minute, it could be heard. My heels clicked against the floor with every step I took.“How could he be so heartless and inconsiderate?” I blurted out loudly, my voice trembling with fury. My temper flared as my mind pondered on Ethan’s sudden change of attitude towards me. From seeing him once care about me to being so resentful. Ethan’s words still lingered in my head, cutting deep into my brain cells.I felt like punching him in the face as he displayed a depth of meanness back at his office. But something held my hands to myself. The unexplainable attraction and love I felt for him.A love so dangerous, yet homely at the same time, one that seemed so strangulating at times. As I continued pacing about my office, my mind scrambled through the consequenc

“Stop it!” I snapped. “C’mon baby, it’s just a selfie”. She whispered. “I’m not a picture person”. I muttered, yanking off her phone from her grip and went ahead to delete the picture. “And I have a name, I’m not your baby”. I smirked, while getting dressed to leave the hotel room. “But you fed on my boobs like you were one. She whispered, pushing her boobs up, as she walked back to lay on the bed”. “Can you just shut up?” I snapped, my irritation growing. “C’mon, let’s go another round” She cooed, turning her butts to my direction. “I know you love it this way”. A sultry smile spread across her face. I sighed, shaking my head with disgust. Then she stood up from the bed, taking calculative steps towards me. “So when are you finally going to take me to your h” She asked, her hands caressing my chest. I warded her hands off my chest, then stretched out a check. “I don’t give fat checks in my house”. I retorted. Seeing the amount of money written

Ethan’s words pierced deep, stabbing every chamber of my heart. I felt light headed, my chest panging with an intense sharp pain. I stood still against his closed office door, my hands holding my chest, struggling and panting for air. “Ugh” I groaned silently, my eyes shut. I wasn’t sure if rejecting his advances turned him into this mean person that he is now, or this is just how he has always been. But one thing was certain, something definitely changed. From being so mindful of me to being this cruel.I finally caught my breath, staggering my way to my office. I was in a complete mess. I had experienced Ethan’s thoughtfulness and warmth, which made me fall in love with him. Despite how much humiliation he has caused me, my heart was still beating and yearning for his love. I know this is a dangerous path, considering the fact that I am getting married to his younger brother in a couple of days from now. But the most heart wrenching fact about all of these is

  • Entangled With My Soon-to-be Brother-in-law    Chapter 39: Lucas's POV

“I must get rid of Ethan, as fast as I can”. My eyes narrowed, my fist clenched as I muttered under my breath, slamming Ethan’s office door. This was exactly what I was trying to avoid before he fired Thomas, the former accounting officer. With Thomas by my side and an increase to his salary, I could have successfully gotten away with it. Refunding the money wasn’t an option, as I had exhausted the funds in my bank accounts to purchase the goods. My mind kept reeling with my next move of action, while standing in the elevator that was taking me to the floor where my office was. The only option I had was to get Ethan out of the way. His existence never mattered to me anyway, so his execution will only have an effect on my aged parents. By then, my father will have no choice, than to completely hand over the company as his only surviving child. A spiteful grin spread across my face, as I walked out of the elevator, rubbing my temples gently. My racing heart cam
