I watched as my father’s casket was being lowered into the ground. My eyes were dry. I had no more tears to cry, I had shed all the tears while he was at the hospital. I barely knew anyone in the somber ceremony, maybe that’s why they were more concerned with paying their last respects to my mother Pamela Thompson who had abandoned us for years, rather than me who had lived with the man all my life. My eyes didn’t leave her for a second, as she played the character of a grieving widow, a handkerchief dabbing at eyes that refused to tear up. Couldn’t anyone see her for what she was? As soon as the ceremony was over, I didn’t spend another moment. I didn’t care to shake hands or accept pitying looks. I went straight back home. Back home, I sat on the edge of my bed, holding a framed picture of my father and me. My fingers traced the outline of his smiling face. He had been my whole world. And now, he was gone. The door to my room opened moments later, and Pamela majesti

My breath was fast and uneven, with my fingers tangled in the sheets as his body pressed against mine, it was all heat and muscle. I had no idea what to call him, I didn’t know his name and I hadn’t asked, I won’t ask. That was the point, right? There were no strings, no expectations. Just raw, consuming and blinding pleasure. This was more intense than anything I had ever done. His hands were everywhere, he mapped my body with a confidence that clenched my stomach, my thighs tightened around his hips on their own accord. He knew exactly what he was doing and by God, that made me even dizzier. I was no virgin, but this? I had never experienced this. Usually when Tyler and I got in bed, it was straight to business and in a few minutes, we were done. But with this man… There was no fumbling, no quick work just to get it over with and no second guessing. His mouth found my neck, his lips teased me and his tongue flicked against my skin. His teeth lightly graz

The apartment door wasn’t locked. A bad feeling curled in my stomach as I pushed it open and stepped inside. I expected the usual, to see my bestie Sarah laid back on the couch, scrolling through her phone. It would be hard to say goodbye. But when I got inside, the image was not what I expected. I froze in the doorway. Tyler. Sarah. Their bodies were pressed together and their lips were locked. Hands tangled in each other’s bodies. I felt something slice through my chest. They didn’t even notice me at all. “What the fuck?” I screamed. Sarah jolted, her eyes bulged and guilt filled them. Tyler, on the other hand, just smirked. My blood burned. “You’ve got to be fucking kidding me.” I said, my voice was sharp and it shook. Sarah took a step forward. “Babe, it’s not what it looks like…” “Shut it!” I looked over at Tyler. “So, this whole time? You even let my mother pay you off to leave me when you were already screwing my best friend?” Tyler e

“What kind of madness is this? Dad, why did you leave me alone in this dark world?” I muttered to myself, tears forming in my eyes which finally came running down my cheeks. When would I be free? When would I be able to live the life that I want? That I truly deserve! Oh God! I cried internally, tears still flowing down. I quickly cleaned it with the back of my pale right palm. I didn’t want to be seen as a weakling in front of this wicked woman. My mother had gotten up from where she was seated, paced about the room for a while and then said to me. “Freshen up and get dressed. You’re going to meet your soon-to-be in-laws today. You will be staying there until after the wedding.” She stated, with no iota of guilt in her voice. I scowled at her, my heart racing with so much anger.“At least, you will allow me recover fully first beloved Mother!” I snapped at her.“Oh please, there’s no time for all that. I need you downstairs in the next 20 minutes. Don’t keep me waiting.”

I sat at the veranda, staring at the graciously manicured garden. Just like how it was before I left home, the grasses were trimmed to perfection. The Gardner came everyday to take care of the garden. It was my favorite spot in the house. The smell of the garden helped calm my nerves, allowing me process my thoughts better. The ray of the sunlight spread a soft glow, and a calm breeze scuffed the dried leaves lying close to the trees. Despite how soothing this felt to my ears, I was far gone from the environment. I was lost in deep thoughts trying to make sense of what had transpired earlier between I and Emilia. Even if I saw it coming when I opened the parcel that was delivered to my house the other day. I wasn’t just fully prepared for it.Since my mother couldn’t get through to me , she thought sending an invitation card of the engagement of my brother and a short note would get me to come home. The shocking revelation was seeing a picture of Lucas and Emilia on the in
