Jessica POV

I was so embarrassed at what I did not know. How could an adult werewolf not know what is happening to themselves, I thought? Or what were basic things even a pup would know. I cringed at how they must view me, and it motivated me more than ever to get out of here while I could. Before my father caught up with me.

I hated the thought, if I admitted it to myself. I was drawn to Cole through our bond, but it was more than that. I felt like he saw me for me. The Christine situation did cause me to pause and wonder what he could even remotely see in me. And why not reject me right away when he had her waiting here for him.

“Ahem,” I heard Carson, as he cleared his throat. I had been daydreaming when they were trying to do the pack induction. “Sorry,” I said softly, my face going red. Cole held onto my hand, as I held the other out. I saw the ceremonial knife that Carson had explained was to be used.
