A Romantic night

Susan's POV

It was clear that George was not the same as he used to be. He often acted distant and absent-minded.

He even canceled the business contract with Patrick's company, resulting in a hefty financial penalty for breaching the contract's agreement.

Feeling responsible and guilty for his actions and wanting to cheer him up, I decided to ask him to take a day off work. I pretended to be unwell and in need of his company.

"Darling, do you mind taking a day off today? I'm really not feeling too well, and I need you," I said, hoping to get his attention.

His initial response wasn't promising, "Not today, honey. I have a lot on my plate. I can't afford to miss work now."

I sat on the bed and silently counted to three. "One…two…"

On the count of three, George surprised me by coming over and sitting beside me.

"I am sorry I can't spend time with you today. How about I wrap up at work on time and come spend time with you?" He suggested, showing a willingness to make it up to me.
