"Hostile takeover?" Banjo shouted out, his voice cracking slightly under the shock. "That's impossible. The Vance family holds fifty one percent of the master voting shares. Nobody can execute a takeover without my personal security key."

"They don't need your key, Master Banjo," Jarrah said, his voice shaking as he held up the satellite phone. "The master vault code wasn't cracked from the outside. It was authorized using an internal administrative clearance from this very building fifteen minutes ago."

I looked at Jarrah, the man who only hours ago, I had overheard conspiring with Tahlia to steal my father's Syndicate keys. He was acting terrified but beneath his frantic act, I saw the not obvious, cold calculation in his eyes.

Banjo didn't notice. He went towards his deck, grabbed his tablet in fury tapping at the glass screen. Rows of red error messages flashed across his face. "It's blocked," Banjo muttered. "My master access was revoked. How is this happening?!"

Before Jarrah could answer, the heavy double doors of the office clicked open once more.

Tahlia stepped into the room.

She wasn't wearing her usual soft, fragile look today. In her small hands, she held a flash drive.

"Banjo!" she cried out softly, her voice trembling as she rushed past me straight to his side. "Oh God, Banjo, it's terrible the media in London just broke the story!"

Banjo grabbed her shoulders tight, his knuckles turned white. "What story, Tahlia? What are you talking about?"

"Our core corporate documents!" Tahlia sobbed, tears instantly welling up in her eyes. "The confidential expansion files for the European banking merger the private client ledgers everything! Lawson Global just released the entire blueprint to the financial press! They're claiming Vance Enterprises is bankrupt and fraudulent!"

Lawson Global. The Vance family’s fiercest rival in European finance a ruthless corporate giant that had been trying to dismantle Banjo’s empire for a decade.

Banjo’s face went pale white. "Lawson Global? How could they possibly get their hands on those files? Those documents were stored on an isolated server in the west wing of the chalet!"

"I didn't want to believe it, Banjo," Tahlia whimpered. She looked over her shoulder at me, her eyes filling with a dark, poisonous bad intention that was completely hidden from Banjo. "When the server alert went off twenty minutes ago, I asked the IT security team to trace the internal IP address. I prayed it was a technical glitch. I prayed it wasn't true". "What are you setting up, Tahlia?" I asked, Tahlia didn't answer me. She turned back to Banjo, placing the flash drive into his shaking palm.

"The trace is complete, Banjo," Tahlia whispered softly, her voice full of tragic, heartbreaking pity. "The person who accessed the isolated server, the person who downloaded the merger files and transferred them directly to Lawson Global's private server used a local wireless signal."

Banjo’s eyes snapped up, fixing on her face with a desperate, terrifying intensity. "Whose signal, Tahlia? Speak!"

"The digital footprint came directly from the personal laptop in the west wing servant quarters," Tahlia said, her voice dropping into a tearful, heartbroken whisper. "It was sent from Merinda's private device."

The air was instantly sucked out of my throat.

"That's a lie," I said, stepping forward, my voice flat and cold. "I haven't touched my laptop since yesterday morning. I was brought directly to this office by your security team at eight AM."

"The timestamp on the file transfer says eight fifteen AM, Merinda!" Tahlia cried out, burying her face in Banjo's chest as she sobbed. "She timed it! She knew she would be here with you so she could have an alibi while an automated script ran on her computer!"

Banjo looked down at the flash drive in his hand, then lifted his head.

The confusion in his eyes vanished, completely replaced by an absolute, murderous rage.

He didn't ask for my explanation. He didn't ask to check the logs himself. Just like every single time before, he took Tahlia's word as absolute, untouchable gospel.

"You miserable, ungrateful parasite," Banjo spat out. "You sold my family to Lawson Global?"

"I didn't touch those files, Banjo!" I shouted back, my calm tone finally shattered as three years of quiet endurance burned into raw fury. "Look at her! Look at Jarrah! They are framing me right in front of your blind, foolish eyes!"

"Enough!" Banjo roared, stepping around his desk, his hand reaching out and grabbing my throat in a firm, suffocating grip. He didn't choke me, but his fingers pressed firmly against my jaw, trapping me in place. "I gave you my name! I kept you safe! And you sold my life's work to my greatest enemy out of pure, bitter jealousy!"

I looked straight into his eyes, refusing to let a single tear fall. "You are a fool, Banjo Vance. A blind, arrogant fool."

Banjo’s grip tightened for a fraction of a second before he shoved me backward. I stumbled, catching myself against the edge of the conference table.

"Jarrah!" Banjo commanded, his voice cold enough to freeze the room solid. "Call the Zurich Federal Police. Tell them we have a corporate spy in custody."

Jarrah reached into his jacket, pulling out his phone. "Right away, Master Banjo."

"Wait," Tahlia suddenly piped up from behind Banjo, her voice carrying a strange, eerie softness as she wiped away her tears. She looked at Banjo with a subtle, dark glint in her eyes. "Banjo before the police take her away you need to check her private email account. The IT team found something else sent from her IP address ten minutes ago."

Banjo frowned, picking up his tablet again. "What else?"

Tahlia looked straight into my eyes, a slow, terrifying smile plastered onto her lips as she whispered:

"She didn't just sell the company to Lawson Global, Banjo. She just sent a signed confession to the European Banking Commission claiming you ordered the leak.”

  • Resurrected Vengeance    The Unseen Watcher

Baden The view from the top floor of the Lawson Tower overlooked the entire glowing grid of Zurich.Rain lashed against the floor to ceiling glass, blurring the distant lights of the city into soft, bleeding pools of gold and red. I stood in the dark office, a crystal glass of neat scotch resting in my right hand, listening to the soft, rhythmic ticking of the grandfather clock in the corner.Down on the streets below, Banjo Vance's world was tearing itself apart at the seams.I took a slow sip of the amber liquid, feeling the sharp burn settle in my throat. For three long years, I had watched Banjo parade around Europe like a untouchable king, hiding his pathetic little marriage behind legal non-disclosure agreements while his father's company slowly ran out of real liquidity. He thought he was brilliant. He thought that by burying Merinda Kael in his shadow, he had successfully erased the debt his family owed to her dead father. He had no idea that every single move he made was bei

  • Resurrected Vengeance    Setting The Board

KaelThe leather seat of the limousine barely registered the cold against my fingertips before the sound of the engine wrapped around me like an embrace I hadn't felt in three years.Outside the rain slicked window, the neon lights of Zurich stretched out in streaks of red and yellow. Up on the hill, the shadow of Banjo's penthouse tower was speeding into the low storm clouds. He was probably still standing in that police basement, clutching the signed divorce papers while his corporate bank accounts bled dry.I didn't feel triumph. In fact, I'd expected an immense emptiness in the center of my chest, the weight of three wasted years and bruises that hadn't healed, and the bitter taste of the fact that to defeat a monster, I had to stop pretending to be a victim. The silver haired man sitting across from me, my father's most trusted advisor before the syndicate fell apart, silently reached forward. He placed a small black satchel on the table between us.Inside he'd placed a satellite

KaelThe red alert on the constable's tablet flashed over and over, painting the concrete room in a harsh, bleeding light.Emergency override verified: Tahlia Thorne Alias.Jarrah didn't say another word. His composure was gone, replaced by a pale, twitching silence as he backed away toward the open door, his fingers digging into his palms before he turned and vanished down the corridor. He didn't even check to see if I was following him. His careful trap was already turning into ash beneath his feet.Footsteps thundered outside, heavy and unsteady, until Banjo burst through the threshold. He looked undone. His tie was completely torn away, his white shirt unbuttoned at the neck, revealing the ragged rise and fall of his chest. His eyes were wide, bloodshot, and wild with a chaotic mixture of panic and disbelief. The phone in his hand was buzzing constantly, displaying dozens of missed calls from the central reserve board, but he ignored it.He stared at me, then at the constable's ta

  • Resurrected Vengeance    Jarrah's Advice

KaelThe door of the private holding room clicked shut with a sharp ring. The high magistrate’s lawyer and the federal marshals had stepped out into the hallway to complete the clearance protocols but Banjo was no longer in the room. He had been practically dragged out moments earlier by his own frantic legal team after his phone blew up with urgent alerts from the Vance Enterprises emergency board.I was not alone, though.Standing near the corner of the room was Jarrah, he didn't look like a man whose conspirator had just been detained at the airport. His posture was as straight and immaculate as it had been during his thirty years of service to the Vance family. His face was a mask of perfect, icy calm, though a dark, calculating intelligence gleamed deep within his eyes."You played a dangerous card today, Miss Merinda," Jarrah said, his voice smooth, soft, and entirely devoid of his usual servant's deference.I turned my head slowly, looking at him from where I sat from. "You're

  • Resurrected Vengeance    The Ultimatum

KaelA single bulb lit up the room, giving it that airy interrogating room. I sat on a hard bench, my hands resting in my lap. The handcuffs had been removed, but the red, marks on my wrists remained as a constant reminder of how I had been dragged out of the Vance estate like a common thief. The door unlocked, I didn't lift my head right away. I watched the rain dripping from the hem of my coat onto the floorboards.Banjo stepped inside. He didn't have his security team with him this time. He was alone. His face looked hollowed out the sharp edges of his jaw tighter than usual, his eyes bloodshot and shadowed by dark circles under his eyes.He didn't sit down in the chair across from me. He stood beside the table, resting one hand on the cold desk, looking down at me with a mix of icy detachment and a strange, flickering exhaustion."You look remarkably calm for someone facing twenty years in a Swiss federal prison, Merinda," he said, his voice rough, dry, and flat.I slowly raised m

  • Resurrected Vengeance    The Unheard Truth

KaelBaden Lawson’s voice faded into silence as Banjo ended the call, sliding the phone into his pocket. I watched him, he looked absolutely shocked with a hint of anger as he looked up at me."His secret partner," Banjo murmured, still in a daze, the words coming out in a low, shallow tone. "He was talking about your father's old contacts, wasn't he? You didn't do this alone. You brought your family's rot straight into my house.""Listen to yourself, Banjo," I shouted, my throat tight as I forced myself to stand up my legs were trembling, but I refused to stay seated while he looked down at me like a disgraced criminal. "Look at the paper in your hand. Look at the digital trail you're so eager to believe.""The trail is clean," he spat. "It leads straight to this room. Straight to your device.""It's too clean!" I stepped toward him, pointing at the scattered sheets on the bed. "Look at the timestamps on those bank transfers! Eight fifteen AM yesterday. The email sent to Baden Lawson
