Kael

After the conflict in Banjo's penthouse office yesterday, his security detail had dragged me back to the estate, locking me inside my room like a criminal who had done something wrong.

BANG.

The door busted open, startling me three muscular men in black surged. Before I could even stand, two of them grabbed my arms, sweeping me off my feet, pinning my hands behind me

"Let go of me!" I shouted out, my voice dryer from hours of silence.

The guards didn't answer, they simply held me tight and holded me towards the hallway.

A moment later, Banjo stepped into the hallway, losing his buttoned shirt and sitting on the sofa. His eyes were on me completely bloodshot with hatred.

In his right hand, he held a folder and in his other hand his laptop.

"Leave us," Banjo growled, the two security guards instantly released my arms, stepping out and closing the door behind.

He stared at me for a long, agonizing minute, as if wanting to rip every single part of me into pieces.

"You deceitful, disgusting leech," Banjo snapped, as it should be I didn't flinch. I stood straight, looking him dead in the eye "I told you yesterday, Banjo. I didn't touch those servers. Tahlia and Jarrah are framing me."

Banjo let out a short, terrifying laugh, shaking his head slowly as he tossed the folder onto the sofa beside me.

"Still lying," he said, stepping closer until he was standing right over me. "Still blaming a sick girl and an old man who served my family for thirty years. Look at the papers, Merinda! Look at what you did!"

I looked down at the documents scattered on the sofa.

They weren't just server logs. Printed across the white pages were private bank wire confirmations, encrypted email chains, and digital signatures.

Recipient: Baden Lawson — Lawson Global Holdings.

Sender: Merinda Vance.

Transaction Amount: $50,000,000 USD.

"Baden Lawson," Banjo spat out, his voice shaking with a fine of anger. "My mortal enemy. The man who has spent ten years trying to ruin my family's legacy. You didn't just leak corporate files to him, Merinda. You sold him our complete internal risk assessment. You gave him the exact key he needed to execute that hostile takeover."

"I didn't send those emails, Banjo!" I shouted, my voice cracking with helpless, burning frustration. "Look at the master code! Look at the routing headers! Anyone with administrative access to the chalet's central router could have spoofed my MAC address!"

Banjo reached out, his hands grabbing my neck pulling me forward until my chest pressed against his. His face was inches from mine, his warm breath smelling of stale whiskey and cold coffee.

"I saved you," he growled into my face, his eyes burning with tears of pure rage. "When your pathetic father died leaving you in absolute ruin, I took you in! I gave you a roof! I gave you food! I gave you the Vance name so your father's creditors wouldn't throw you in a hole! And you sold my trade secrets to Baden Lawson for fifty million dollars?!"

"I don't need your fifty million dollars!" I screamed back, three years of buried dignity finally exploding from my lips as I glared into his bloodshot eyes. "I never wanted your name! I never wanted your money! I stayed in this golden cage because I had to, Banjo! You think you're a savior? You're a blind, arrogant fool who can't see that the snake in your bed isn't me it's Tahlia!"

SLAP.

The sound echoed through the room, my head snapped to the side, my cheek burning with a red hot sting. I stumbled back.

I looked at him for a fraction of a second, a flash of horrifying regret flickered across his eyes as he looked at my face, red and swollen from his strike.

Then, his jaw locked hard, his expression hardening back.

"Don't you ever speak her name again," he growled, his voice trembling. "You are guilty of corporate treason, Merinda. The Zurich Federal Police are at the front gates right now."

He turned on his heel, walking toward the door. But as his hand touched the door knob, his personal cell phone began to ring.

Banjo pulled the phone out, answering it with a harsh, irritated bark. "What is it?"

A man's voice smooth, refined, and chillingly familiar echoed clearly through the phone's speaker into the quiet room.

"Good morning, Banjo," "I just wanted to thank you for the documents. Your wife was remarkably easy to work with though I must admit, her secret partner was even better.”

  • Resurrected Vengeance    Tahlia's Celebration

TahliaThe bass from the speakers hummed straight through the couch, sending tiny ripples across the surface of my pink champagne.Inside the private VIP lounge of L’Étoile, high above the wet streets of Zurich, the air smelled of expensive French perfume, sweet cigar smoke, and pure, unfiltered victory. Golden confetti lay scattered over the dark marble floor, catching the warm glow of the crystal chandeliers hanging from the ceiling.Around me, five of Zurich’s most influential socialite women were laughing, their diamond bracelets sparkling under the dim lights as they raised their flutes toward me."To Tahlia!" Chloe squealed, her eyes wide with excitement as she clinked her glass against mine. "The new undisputed queen of the Vance dynasty! We all knew it was only a matter of time before that depressed ghost was pushed out."I leaned back against the cushions crossing my legs with a soft, satisfied sigh. I wanted everyone to see me. I wanted the whole city to know that the throne

  • Resurrected Vengeance    A Rainy Departure

BanjoThe rain was coming down in thick sheets, slamming against the tall glass walls of the third floor study, it felt as if the rain understood what was happening. I stood by the window, a heavy crystal glass of scotch untouched in my hand. The quiet in the Vance mansion was heavy, almost suffocating, broken only by the steady, low rumble of thunder echoing across the Zurich hills. Downstairs, the vast hallways felt entirely empty, stripped of whatever warmth they had ever pretended to hold.My chest felt tight, constricted by a strange, hollow ache that I couldn't quite explain. It didn't make any sense. I had won.The signed divorce decree sat on my desk right behind me, alongside the land deed to St. Judes. Everything I had worked for, everything I had fought to secure for Tahlia’s future, was finally in my hands. Merinda was gone. The quiet, troublesome ghost who had occupied the north wing of my home for three long years had finally been erased from my life.So why did the hou

  • Resurrected Vengeance    The Unseen Watcher

Baden The view from the top floor of the Lawson Tower overlooked the entire glowing grid of Zurich.Rain lashed against the floor to ceiling glass, blurring the distant lights of the city into soft, bleeding pools of gold and red. I stood in the dark office, a crystal glass of neat scotch resting in my right hand, listening to the soft, rhythmic ticking of the grandfather clock in the corner.Down on the streets below, Banjo Vance's world was tearing itself apart at the seams.I took a slow sip of the amber liquid, feeling the sharp burn settle in my throat. For three long years, I had watched Banjo parade around Europe like a untouchable king, hiding his pathetic little marriage behind legal non-disclosure agreements while his father's company slowly ran out of real liquidity. He thought he was brilliant. He thought that by burying Merinda Kael in his shadow, he had successfully erased the debt his family owed to her dead father. He had no idea that every single move he made was bei

  • Resurrected Vengeance    Setting The Board

KaelThe leather seat of the limousine barely registered the cold against my fingertips before the sound of the engine wrapped around me like an embrace I hadn't felt in three years.Outside the rain slicked window, the neon lights of Zurich stretched out in streaks of red and yellow. Up on the hill, the shadow of Banjo's penthouse tower was speeding into the low storm clouds. He was probably still standing in that police basement, clutching the signed divorce papers while his corporate bank accounts bled dry.I didn't feel triumph. In fact, I'd expected an immense emptiness in the center of my chest, the weight of three wasted years and bruises that hadn't healed, and the bitter taste of the fact that to defeat a monster, I had to stop pretending to be a victim. The silver haired man sitting across from me, my father's most trusted advisor before the syndicate fell apart, silently reached forward. He placed a small black satchel on the table between us.Inside he'd placed a satellite

KaelThe red alert on the constable's tablet flashed over and over, painting the concrete room in a harsh, bleeding light.Emergency override verified: Tahlia Thorne Alias.Jarrah didn't say another word. His composure was gone, replaced by a pale, twitching silence as he backed away toward the open door, his fingers digging into his palms before he turned and vanished down the corridor. He didn't even check to see if I was following him. His careful trap was already turning into ash beneath his feet.Footsteps thundered outside, heavy and unsteady, until Banjo burst through the threshold. He looked undone. His tie was completely torn away, his white shirt unbuttoned at the neck, revealing the ragged rise and fall of his chest. His eyes were wide, bloodshot, and wild with a chaotic mixture of panic and disbelief. The phone in his hand was buzzing constantly, displaying dozens of missed calls from the central reserve board, but he ignored it.He stared at me, then at the constable's ta

  • Resurrected Vengeance    Jarrah's Advice

KaelThe door of the private holding room clicked shut with a sharp ring. The high magistrate’s lawyer and the federal marshals had stepped out into the hallway to complete the clearance protocols but Banjo was no longer in the room. He had been practically dragged out moments earlier by his own frantic legal team after his phone blew up with urgent alerts from the Vance Enterprises emergency board.I was not alone, though.Standing near the corner of the room was Jarrah, he didn't look like a man whose conspirator had just been detained at the airport. His posture was as straight and immaculate as it had been during his thirty years of service to the Vance family. His face was a mask of perfect, icy calm, though a dark, calculating intelligence gleamed deep within his eyes."You played a dangerous card today, Miss Merinda," Jarrah said, his voice smooth, soft, and entirely devoid of his usual servant's deference.I turned my head slowly, looking at him from where I sat from. "You're
