Five years later.

“Dr. Gabrielle, the patient's blood pressure is dropping!”

Gabrielle looked up from the medical report in her hands, her expression instantly becoming serious as she walked into the emergency room, her white coat moving behind her with every hurried step.

“What's his condition?”

The nurse walked quickly by her side, “Severe internal bleeding, and we can't find the source.”

They reached the room, where other nurses gathered around the patient,  “Move aside.” Gabrielle said as soon as she stepped closer.

The nurses immediately made room for her, and Gabrielle leaned over the unconscious man, quickly examining his injuries before pointing toward the monitor.

“His left side is filled with blood, which means the damage is deeper than we thought, so prepare him for emergency surgery and get two units of blood ready.”

“Yes, Doctor.”

She turned toward the nurse beside her.

“And call the surgical team. I want everyone in the theatre within five minutes.”

The room immediately erupted into movement.

Gabrielle glanced at the clock before walking toward the operating theatre, her mind already calculating the best way to save the patient's life.

Five years ago, she had been a woman fighting to survive.

Now, she is one of the most respected doctors in the continent.

Her name had become known across several territories, and even wealthy Alpha families travelled long distances to seek treatment at her hospital because of her reputation for solving impossible cases.

Four hours later, the patient was stabilised and Gabrielle walked into the cleaning room.

The day had been anything but normal. The amount of rogues coming into the hospital this week was higher than it had been last month.

Something was going on, and she didn't know what it was.

“Mommy!”

A voice greeted her, causing a smile to burst out on her face. Gabrielle went down on her knees, and opened her arm for the young boy to rush into it.

“I missed you, my little Cassian!” She said, as he crashed into her arms.

His dark hair was slightly messy, and his school bag hung from his shoulder.

“You are late, mommy.” Cassian did a little out but it only made Gabrielle chuckle.

“It isn't dinner yet and I told you I'd be home for dinner right?” She said, picking him into her arms and rising up.

“It's thirty minutes to dinner and you'd have been late like yesterday.” Cassian replied.

“Yesterday was my first time and I had work.” Gabrielle pinched his nose in response.

Shaking off her grip, Cassian folded his arm, “You are always working.”

“And who taught you to argue with your mother?”

The young boy tilted his head towards where he had run from, “Uncle Enzo.”

Gabrielle followed the direction of his gaze. Enzo was leaning against his car with his arms folded, staring at the both of them with a small smile.

She couldn't help but feel grateful for his presence, although she had been pestering him to get a woman for the past five years.

“Okay okay. Let's go have dinner. Should we go to the pack house? Or a five star restaurant?”

Cassian’s eyes brightened, “Would there be dessert?”

“Okay. Five star restaurant, it is.” Gabrielle answered him with a smile, as they reached Enzo.

She mouthed a thank you to him and they got into the car.

Gabrielle placed Cassian at the back seat, allowing her gaze to linger on him for a while, before giving him a small kiss.

Her pack wasn't her greatest achievement, neither was her fame nor her hospital.

Everything would be nothing if Cassian wasn't here with her to enjoy it.

The car started on the road.

“Mommy, are we there yet?” Cassian asked from the back seat.

“Almost.” Gabrielle responded

“You said that five minutes ago.”

Enzo chuckled from the driver's seat. “Your mother has a terrible sense of time.”

Gabrielle glared at him. “Focus on driving.”

Enzo made a motion of zipping his lips, “Yes, Doctor.”

Cassian burst into laughter.

When they finally arrived, Gabrielle chose one of the busiest five-star restaurants in the city.

It was time to make up for the moments she missed with her child.

They ordered food and she listened as Cassian told his stories and even laughed along with him.

Night was close and they returned back home.

“Thank you for the food, Mummy.” Cassian said as he stepped out of the car.

“Anytime my little prince.”

Gabrielle smiled as she watched Cassian run towards the entrance, but before she could follow, the sharp sound of tires against the pavement made her freeze.

A black SUV suddenly skidded across the road before stopping directly in front of them.

Gabrielle's instincts immediately kicked in, and she pulled Cassian closer while her eyes remained fixed on the vehicle.

“Enzo. Take Cassian inside.”

Enzo didn't argue, immediately taking the young boy's hand.

“Come on, little man.”

Cassian pulled back, “But Mommy—”

“I'll be right behind you,” Gabrielle assured him, giving him a soft smile.

She waited until they were a few steps away before turning her attention back to the SUV.

The door opened.

A man stepped out hurriedly, adjusting his black jacket as he approached her, and Gabrielle's eyes immediately fell on the silver emblem embroidered across his chest.

Mooncrest. Her expression changed instantly.

It had been five years since she had left that pack behind, and not once had they even tried to get back to her.

Ethan forgot she ever existed so why were they here now?

The man stopped before her and reached inside his jacket.

Gabrielle instinctively took a step back. “Who are you?”

“I am a messenger from Mooncrest.”

Her eyes narrowed. “I don't care.” She hissed, moving to walk away.

“Please!” The man yelled out, desperation evident on his face, and it was enough to stop her movements.

He pulled out a sealed envelope and extended it toward her.

“Doctor Gabrielle, Mooncrest Pack needs your help.”

The next day; Gabrielle went down on one knee, kissing the forehead of her son. “Cassian, I'd be back. Mummy wants to go for a work trip. I want you to be a good boy. Uncle Enzo is in charge so don't trouble him, is that fine?” Tears pooled in the little boy's eyes. “When would you be back, Mum?” Cassian said, rubbing his teary eyes. “In two weeks. You know I can't live very long without you.” She smiled at him. Cassian nodded, and Gabrielle wiped his eyes, before giving him another kiss. She rose to her feet, and looked at Enzo, before pulling him into a hug. “Take care of him for me, Enzo.” Enzo didn't respond for a moment, “Do you think you should be seeing someone like him? After everything he had done to you?” The question made Gabrielle think and she shook her head. “Leaving my duty as Alpha is only because I am first a doctor and I cannot bear to know that innocent people are in pain.”She answered. At the other side, the werewolf from Mooncrest widened his eyes. H

It was a cold night, and Gabrielle stirred on the ground. She rose to her feet and her eyes were blank, matching the calmness in her face. She was still in the warehouse, but this time, there was no one around. For a moment, the facade she put up cracked, and she crumbled to her knees, hitting the floor. Her mind flooded with memories. An injection to kill her baby, and one to get rid of her memories. If she had lost both, it would have been an easier life. But she remembered. She remembered all of it, and she was going to make them pay, she was going to make Yvenna and the Wolfcrest pack pay horribly for what they did to her. Rising to her feet, she found a phone booth and dialed in a number. The line connected instantly. “Enzo—” “For moon goddess's sake, Gabrielle, where have you been? I have sent you fifty missed calls,” Enzo called out, his voice leaking with worry. If Gabrielle hadn't moved the phone away, he would have bursted her ear drums. “I'm fine. Can you come pi

“Have you told him about the pregnancy?” Enzo spoke through this phone, the question an attempt to calm himself. Gabrielle paused, looking down at her stomach, “He doesn't need to know. I don't want any more troubles from them, just my peace and quiet.” She answered. Her bag was packed—just one, containing the clothes she got with her money and her travel documents. Enzo nodded on the other end of the phone. “There’s no problem. I have booked your flight two hours ago, a private jet would be there to take you.” Gabrielle shook her head, “You didn't have to do that, Enzo—” “I have been your friend for five years, Gabrielle. You don't have to tell me what I need to do. Just hurry up and get here and then we can find a place for you.” “Thank you.” Gabrielle smiled, and she carried her bag. Getting a taxi in this city wasn't a hurdle, and she couldn't help but think of Ethan's reaction when he'd see those divorce papers. “Please take me to the airport.” She said, her attention on

“You don't know what you are talking about. You said you loved me, Ethan. What's the meaning of this?” Gabrielle said, pointing at the woman that hugged the arm of her husband. Ethan frowned, “Behave yourself, Gabrielle. I already said our marriage was nothing in the first place. Merely a transaction. Being the Beta of the pack, meant I had to marry the dead Alpha's wife.” “What?” Gabrielle gasped, “Didn't you marry me to honour your Alpha?” She was bewildered, completely unsure of who was standing in front of her, even after knowing him for three years. Ethan was about to say when the woman beside him stepped forward. Yvenna was her name. She had been a lone wolf brought in by the pack. As Gabrielle stared at Yvenna, she regretted when she had felt pity for such a backstabber. “Gabrielle. It's not Ethan's fault that your husband died. He already did his best by surviving this long in a loveless marriage, and now he wants someone who he can actually love.” She said, her hips swa
