It was a cold night, and Gabrielle stirred on the ground. She rose to her feet and her eyes were blank, matching the calmness in her face.

She was still in the warehouse, but this time, there was no one around.

For a moment, the facade she put up cracked, and she crumbled to her knees, hitting the floor.

Her mind flooded with memories. An injection to kill her baby, and one to get rid of her memories.

If she had lost both, it would have been an easier life.

But she remembered. She remembered all of it, and she was going to make them pay, she was going to make Yvenna and the Wolfcrest pack pay horribly for what they did to her.

Rising to her feet, she found a phone booth and dialed in a number.

The line connected instantly.

“Enzo—”

“For moon goddess's sake, Gabrielle, where have you been? I have sent you fifty missed calls,” Enzo called out, his voice leaking with worry.

If Gabrielle hadn't moved the phone away, he would have bursted her ear drums.

“I'm fine. Can you come pick me up, trace the address of this phone booth.”

“Wait. Why are you using a phone—”

Before he could complete his sentence, the line went dead.

Gabrielle looked at the phone booth and sighed, that was all she had left.

There was nothing else to do.

She felt the trickle of liquid down her leg, only to spot the flow of blood.

Tears left her eyes, but she quickly wiped it away.

“Crying doesn't solve anything, Gabrielle, and I promise you my children. I'd avenge you and destroy that damned Mooncrest pack even if it's the last thing I do.”

An hour passed, and the sound of a helicopter tore through the silence of the night.

Gabrielle lifted her head weakly, and she watched the helicopter in front of her.

“Gabrielle!” Enzo came running forward, and his face drained of color when he saw her sitting in the pool of her own blood.

“Oh moon goddess…” He crouched beside her, “Gabrielle, look at me. Can you walk?”

She raised her gaze, her cheeks stained with tears. Enzo froze, his jaw tightened, he had never seen her look so weak. His eyes fell to the floor.

“Come carry her to the helicopter.” He yelled, and two burly looking men walked out of the helicopter and they ran forward.

“My babies…” Gabrielle gripped Enzo’s arm, her tears falling even more. “They are gone.”

“I’d do my best.” He responded, before directing the other men to lift her from the floor and into the hospital.

“We are going to the hospital, and I’d make sure they do whatever they can to save your babies, Gabrielle.” Enzo said, hoping his fear would not be so evident.

Gabrielle closed her eyes on hearing his voice, she wanted to believe him, but she knew how long that drug had been in her body.

The chances were slim.

Within minutes, she was in the helicopter, surrounded by medical equipment as Enzo held her hand.

“Please Enzo,” she turned her head to Enzo, her voice barely audible. “Save both my children before me. I'm better off dead.”

Enzo hesitated, what she asked of him was painful.

“Enzo? Promise me…” Gabrielle pressed. To her, she would love to see Cassian again.

“I promise.” Enzo answered through gritted teeth.

But neither of them knew if that promise could be kept.

The helicopter landed at the hospital, and Gabrielle was rushed into the emergency room.

Hours later, a doctor finally stepped out.

Enzo rose to his feet, moving forward. “How is she?”

“If we save her, she loses her life. The drug went too far. If we save her life, we can only save one baby.”

Enzo gripped the collar of the doctor, “Do whatever you can. She must not die.” When he realised what he was doing, he released the doctor, “I'm sorry.”

“It's okay. We'd do our best to save her.” The doctor said, before walking back inside.

The surgery took the full night.

Three days later, Gabrielle opened her eyes.

The first thing she felt was the lightness in her body, then followed by it was a heavy silence.

She slowly turned her head, towards the direction of light snoring.

Enzo was sitting beside her bed, asleep in a chair.

“Enzo.”

His eyes snapped open, and he stood immediately,“Gabrielle.”

She stared at him, the circles around his eyes explained what he had been through. “I'm sorry.”

The sentence took Ethan by surprise but he frowned, “You have nothing to apologise for.”

Gabrielle slowly nodded, before turning her gaze away. “If I'm alive, then the babies…”

Enzo sat down, taking her hand in his, “One survived.”

Gabrielle's lips trembled. “Which one?”

“The boy.”

She closed her eyes, tears sliding down her cheeks.

She had lost one of her children, but there was a sense of gratitude.

Gabrielle turned to Enzo, a small smile on her lips, “Thank you. Can I please see him?”

The child was brought to her, and Gabrielle held him close to her chest, staring at his peaceful face as the sunlight touched his delicate features.

He looked exactly like her, and somehow, that made her heart ache a little less.

Enzo moved closer, “What are you going to call him?”

Gabrielle paused, her fingers gently brushing over his tiny cheek before a smile appeared on her face.

“Cassian.”

She held him tighter, silently promising that she would love him enough for two.

Then she kissed his forehead.

“My little Cassian.”

Cassian stirred in her arms, his tiny fingers curling around hers.

And for the first time since she lost everything, Gabrielle smiled like she had final

The next day; Gabrielle went down on one knee, kissing the forehead of her son. “Cassian, I'd be back. Mummy wants to go for a work trip. I want you to be a good boy. Uncle Enzo is in charge so don't trouble him, is that fine?” Tears pooled in the little boy's eyes. “When would you be back, Mum?” Cassian said, rubbing his teary eyes. “In two weeks. You know I can't live very long without you.” She smiled at him. Cassian nodded, and Gabrielle wiped his eyes, before giving him another kiss. She rose to her feet, and looked at Enzo, before pulling him into a hug. “Take care of him for me, Enzo.” Enzo didn't respond for a moment, “Do you think you should be seeing someone like him? After everything he had done to you?” The question made Gabrielle think and she shook her head. “Leaving my duty as Alpha is only because I am first a doctor and I cannot bear to know that innocent people are in pain.”She answered. At the other side, the werewolf from Mooncrest widened his eyes. H

Five years later. “Dr. Gabrielle, the patient's blood pressure is dropping!” Gabrielle looked up from the medical report in her hands, her expression instantly becoming serious as she walked into the emergency room, her white coat moving behind her with every hurried step. “What's his condition?” The nurse walked quickly by her side, “Severe internal bleeding, and we can't find the source.” They reached the room, where other nurses gathered around the patient, “Move aside.” Gabrielle said as soon as she stepped closer. The nurses immediately made room for her, and Gabrielle leaned over the unconscious man, quickly examining his injuries before pointing toward the monitor. “His left side is filled with blood, which means the damage is deeper than we thought, so prepare him for emergency surgery and get two units of blood ready.” “Yes, Doctor.” She turned toward the nurse beside her. “And call the surgical team. I want everyone in the theatre within five minutes.” The room i

“Have you told him about the pregnancy?” Enzo spoke through this phone, the question an attempt to calm himself. Gabrielle paused, looking down at her stomach, “He doesn't need to know. I don't want any more troubles from them, just my peace and quiet.” She answered. Her bag was packed—just one, containing the clothes she got with her money and her travel documents. Enzo nodded on the other end of the phone. “There’s no problem. I have booked your flight two hours ago, a private jet would be there to take you.” Gabrielle shook her head, “You didn't have to do that, Enzo—” “I have been your friend for five years, Gabrielle. You don't have to tell me what I need to do. Just hurry up and get here and then we can find a place for you.” “Thank you.” Gabrielle smiled, and she carried her bag. Getting a taxi in this city wasn't a hurdle, and she couldn't help but think of Ethan's reaction when he'd see those divorce papers. “Please take me to the airport.” She said, her attention on

“You don't know what you are talking about. You said you loved me, Ethan. What's the meaning of this?” Gabrielle said, pointing at the woman that hugged the arm of her husband. Ethan frowned, “Behave yourself, Gabrielle. I already said our marriage was nothing in the first place. Merely a transaction. Being the Beta of the pack, meant I had to marry the dead Alpha's wife.” “What?” Gabrielle gasped, “Didn't you marry me to honour your Alpha?” She was bewildered, completely unsure of who was standing in front of her, even after knowing him for three years. Ethan was about to say when the woman beside him stepped forward. Yvenna was her name. She had been a lone wolf brought in by the pack. As Gabrielle stared at Yvenna, she regretted when she had felt pity for such a backstabber. “Gabrielle. It's not Ethan's fault that your husband died. He already did his best by surviving this long in a loveless marriage, and now he wants someone who he can actually love.” She said, her hips swa
