Louis was quite curious as to why Helena seemed to be acting strangely, as if she were hiding a deep trauma. As he knew, the Ashers were overly protective of their kids, most especially Helena, knowing that she was the youngest and she is the most loved.

But the way he noticed how Helena seemed to be having some traumatic experiences because of the way she behaved.

He was kind of curious, and he never expected he would be moved by someone’s cry. He didn’t expect that Helena would suddenly sob right in front of him as soon as he told her she was safe in his territory.

He felt a sense of responsibility to look after her, but it wasn’t that big enough to just completely turn into a love that he didn’t want to fall into because he still could not commit.

Meanwhile, Helena cried her heart out, not because she felt scared because of her nightmare, but because for the first time, she felt like she wasn’t alone anymore.

Although she knows that Louis just said it because he is a Montville and he has an agreement with Helena’s parents, she is a bit thankful that he still considers her welfare.

She felt a little bit light and embarrassed after crying about it. She had never cried since the day she woke up in Helena’s body, and she just tried to go with the flow. But to slowly express it made her feel a little bit lighter.

“I’m embarrassed,” she confessed to Anna, who stayed in her room to give her a meal and some medicines.

Anna smiled and shook her head as she placed it on top of the wooden tray that was on Helena’s bed.

“Oh, don’t be, Miss Helena. You actually made him worried for you,” Anna said.

It was hard to believe knowing that Louis seemed like the type of alpha who doesn’t care about someone’s feelings. He seemed emotionless with those intense eyes of him, and he looked like he would not be fazed by someone’s cry.

“He’s probably worried about the arrangement. Not for me,” she corrected, as she didn’t want to build some hope.

“You think so? Oh, Alpha Louis is transparent to read, Miss Helena. We know if he doesn’t like it or he likes it because he expresses himself boldly. It is the reason why we are afraid of him because we all know he would get angry and he would not hesitate to show his disappointment to us.”

Helena could really tell that Anna was right about it, knowing that Louis just looked so serious, and he seemed like he would not even bat an eye at anyone if he hurt their feelings or not.

“You made him worry, believe me. He personally carried you to your room instead of giving you to other men who could do it,” Anna teased with a grin on her face that made Helena blush a bit.

She panicked. What made it worse was the fact that her past experiences flashed through her mind making her emotions worse because she thought she would die right there and then without even getting justice for her first life.

“But are you okay now, Miss Helena? Do you have trauma experience riding horses?” She asked.

Helena shook her head and looked at her food. It looked so delicious that she was tempted to taste it.

“I’m not…just good at it,” she confessed.

“Oh! You should have told Alpha Louis about it. For sure, he would consider you if you admitted that you don’t know how to ride a horse.”

“I couldn’t. I thought I could just manage it. I didn’t know it would turn out like that.” She sighed regretfully.

“Be open to Alpha Louis, Miss Helena. Although he looked so snobby and serious, he was a good man. He will consider you for sure,” Anna said encouragingly.

She didn’t know if what Anna said would help her, but there was a part of her that wanted to try it, at least to slowly open herself to Louis. After what happened, there was a curiosity in her that was blooming, and she wanted to feed it.

She wanted to know him slowly, little by little. She is curious about what more attitude he has because she is eager to know it, to understand him, and to see that he might not just be the Louis who was feared and avoided by everyone.

She doesn’t know how to properly approach him; she tells Anna about her plans, to which Anna agrees and decides to help her out with her mini-plan. She helped her bake a cake for him, thanking him for saving her.

Although Anna already said that Louis isn’t really into sweets, she still wants to try her luck and make an effort for it.

Thankfully, Louis was so busy in his own office that she spent her time preparing for it until she finished it. She also designed and layered its whole sides while wearing her smile, as she was excited about Louis’ reaction to it.

Again, Helena. It is okay and expected that he would not even taste it. But at least you could show him how thankful you are and how you appreciated what he did to you.

It was what she was saying to herself as she brought the box with a ribbon after Anna and she put it into the box. She wanted to make it so sweet that she wanted to give it in a box.

She just tried to go to where Anna told her his own office was, knocked on the door, and waited for his voice to let her in.

“I’m busy. Whatever it is, cut it off, and I’ll entertain it later,” his cold voice said, which made Helena’s excitement slowly crumble.

“Oh! Okay! This is actually me, Helena. I just dropped by to…give you this present to thank you for…helping me on the other day. I hope you will like it,” she said in her nervous voice as she hurriedly placed it on the ground and decided to run to her room.

She was cursing herself and thanking Louis for not coming out of his room because she realized that she would probably not survive telling it in front of his face, and it would only make her even more nervous.

She threw herself into the bed and buried her face against the pillow as she screamed out of frustration. She is panicking, and she doesn’t even know how to control it.

It’s okay, Helena. If he won’t eat it and tell Anna that you should not be doing it because he doesn’t find it pleasing, then you should stop. Yes, that’s what I am going to do.

It was what she was telling herself as she stood up and walked back and forth while shaking both of her hands. She is just so nervous that she doesn’t want to get out of her room and just spend her entire life there, or as soon as Louis forgets about the cake she made for him.

Did he like it? Is it okay? Did he already taste it? What if he doesn’t actually like the taste and he is now criticizing it to the core?

Her chest was banging loudly, and she felt like a teenager who had just given a confession letter to her crush because of the way she felt and the way her heart was booming.

When Anna went to her room, she immediately asked if Louis had already come out of his office, but Anna said he hadn’t yet. To her panic and embarrassment, she decided to just eat her dinner first.

“If he tries to find me, tell him I already went to bed early because I don’t feel good,” Helena said to Anna, who was also nodding at her silly plans.

She was just too shy to come out; she ate her dinner in the room and decided to go to bed early despite not feeling sleepy yet. She cannot explain what she is feeling. But it was indeed overwhelming, and she was just too embarrassed to show herself to him.

That’s why when tomorrow came and she was called for breakfast, she purposely didn’t wake up early so she would have a late breakfast instead. When she found out that Louis had gone outside for an important meeting, she felt a little bit of joy and decided to go down.

“Did he say anything?” Helena asked while Anna was serving her food for her late breakfast.

“Oh, he didn’t. He also didn’t mention the cake you made. I don’t want to open it up because he might get mad at me,” Anna uttered as she only tried not to laugh about it.

“What if he just threw it away and he didn’t really see the box outside his room? Maybe he ordered someone to throw it somewhere,” Helena said, overthinking things.

“Well, there is nothing outside his office, and the other maids didn’t report to me anything about it since they are curious too. And they said it seems like the cake is inside his office. Maybe he really tasted it and he likes it,” Anna said positively.

“Is that even true? What if he tasted it and spit it out because it tastes awful?”

“Then you should have waited for my reaction,” a familiar voice boomed behind her.

Helena’s eyes widened so much that she froze in her seat, and she just wanted to run back into her own room. Immediately.
