I broke down in tears, struggling to compose myself till I got to Ava's place. She had asked me to stop crying but I just couldn't, for I was beyond consolation...

How could a little child, my own flesh and blood whom I nurtured for nine months and raised for years, turn me down in front of everyone?!!! How could she deny and disown me in the public, just like that?

"Please take a chill pill, Amelia! Thinking way too much isn't going to help the situation. It will only make things worse and cause you more harm." She stood before me to talk, eventually planting herself beside me on the couch. "Here! Have this." She offered me the glass of water in her hold which I took from her to sip.

"Amelia, you're still crying. Please wipe those tears of yours." She showed concern, collecting the glass of water from me to place on the table.
