ELLE

The kids had gone to school today as well, but Theon had stayed behind. It felt strange to avoid him, but that was what I was doing. I told myself, and I was certain I wasn’t angry with him anymore, but I still found myself staying in the room, afraid to see him.

Why? I didn’t have an answer to that, but avoiding him would have to wait, as he told a maid he would like to speak with me.

I hated it. The idea that we needed to pass messages through the maids, instead of him waltzing into the room and saying what he wanted, but I couldn’t blame anyone except myself. I was the one who placed this wall between us.

I took my time getting ready because my thoughts were making up stories in my head, and it wouldn’t stop.

What if he decided we were better off separated? After all, wasn’t that what you wanted when you destroyed what you already had in that moment of weakness? My voice sneered at me as my hands trembled while they hesitated to open the bedroom door, knowing that Theon was on

The small stadium buzzed with energy. Parents, siblings, students, and friends cheered relentlessly for the students who would be playing their first game.Milo Blackwell adjusted his jersey as he bounced on his feet. He was nervous, and it showed. His best friend, Elliot, nudged him, “Are you nervous?”“Yes,” Milo nodded, “You?”“I am. Feels like I want to throw up, but we got this,” Elliot said with a big smile.Elliot was the opposite of Milo. Everybody told Milo he was just like his father when he was young. His Aunt Sophie always cried dramatically, saying he had lost all his cute attributes and was now a brooding teenager like his father. At 13, Theon was Milo’s biggest inspiration. He looked up to his father and wished to be like him someday. But not career-wise, in that aspect, he wanted to be like his uncle’s boyfriend, Malone. At first, his father didn’t like that he wanted football over business, but one pleasing pout from his mother, and his father agreed without hesitatio

AUTHOR’S POV“Where are my little troublemakers?” Theon called and chuckled lowly when the sounds of little footsteps started to run down the stairs. He braced himself as they slammed into him.“We are here, Daddy,” Eliza giggled, bouncing on her feet, making her little pigtails bounce as well. “Is mummy back?” she asked, peeking behind him at the door.Theon crouched to their height and gathered them in his arms, “Remember what we planned?” he asked with a playful wink, “This is very important to Daddy and Mummy, and I need you to do it perfectly. Can I count on you?” he asked with a serious tone.“Yes, Daddy,” Milo shouted, nodding his head furiously, “We can do it,”“Me too,” Eliza said, wrapping her hands around his neck.Theon smiled and kissed both their cheeks. He was nervous as well, and as a result, had checked everything thrice already. There was nothing else to keep him busy, and Sohie had chased him out of the garden because he was fussing so much.Jeremy and Malone laughe

AUTHOR’S POVThe silence in the boardroom was no longer filled with tension but with disbelief. They couldn’t believe the audacity of Julian.“Julian, calm down,” One of the board members yelled in warning, but Julian’s glare forced the man to back down.Julian could feel his voice becoming hoarse as he breathed harshly. His words echoed in the room, and it wasn’t enough. Rage burned inside him. The anger was overwhelming, and he wasn’t even done. The mask he had always worn had disappeared. Gone was the refined man the board members always knew, the Julian before them had gone feral with greed and hatred. He was a beast. No one moved at first. They all watched him with the mix of surprise, fear, disgust, and wonder. A lot of them could not believe that a human was capable of harbouring so much hatred for another.“What have you done to yourself?” Theon spoke, breaking the silence, “I can’t even think of something I may have done to make you think I only ever thought of you as a slav

AUTHOR’S POVThe board members murmured among themselves, while glancing at Theon and Elle, would sat at the top of the table. They didn’t understand why Theon had called for an urgent board meeting when the conglomerate wasn’t in any crisis they were aware of.They couldn’t help but shuffle awkwardly because Theon, who had insisted they be here first thing in the morning, had yet to say a word. His image screamed authority. While he had always been intimidating at every board meeting, today, his presence was suffocating.Elle was also quiet. Her gaze also unnerved them. They wanted to ask questions, but none of them could muster the audacity to speak. They could only wait to see what the meeting was about.Julian was also present. He was also surprised when he got the message yesterday night. He was bothered a little. His plan to take over the conglomerate was in motion, and it should start by the end of the week.He had planned something that would put the conglomerate in temporary

ELLEI couldn’t sleep. I should have been able to, given that Theon’s arm was around my waist as he held me close. His breathing was warm against the back of my neck.I was exhausted, because hours before, Theon had unravelled me in a way that I had almost forgotten. My body hummed deliciously with the after touch, and honestly, I craved more even though my body protested hardly against these thoughts.Theon grunted and pulled me closer, burying his face into the crook of my neck as he hummed in satisfaction. I guess I could say that we were back to where we were. But even with the emotions buzzing, I couldn’t think because my head was filled with so many thoughts. The truth about Julian hung above me. I was starting to regret my decision not to tell Theon because it had been bothering me nonstop. We had decided to start things all over again, without secrets, but I was still keeping a big one from him.I turned to my back, and Theon’s hand fell to my midsection, still unwilling to l

ELLEI couldn’t stop watching Theon as he drove. He claimed we had a meeting we needed to attend together, but something about his outfit didn’t feel like it was something he would wear for such an official outing.“Why are you looking at me like that?” He mused with a side glance, as a smile tugged at his lips, “You’ve been giving me that suspecting look since we left the house”“That’s because I don’t trust you,” I grumbled, folding my arms across my chest, “are you sure we are going for a business meeting?” I asked again with an arched brow.“And what makes you think I am lying?” He teased with a chuckle, and I huffed.“One. This is not the way to the office, and two, those are not work clothes,” I pointed at the suit he was wearing.“I wear a suit to work,” he laughed, but I shook my head.“Not this brand,” I deadpanned, and he laughed again.“I guess we’ll see about that,” he said, making a motion of zipping his mouth and throwing the keys away.“By the way, I said it was a busin
