CINDY’S POV

I sprang up from Damian’s side instantly, my heart slamming against my ribs.

“Henry?!” I barked, the name tasting like poison on my tongue.

A lot had happened lately, I had almost forgotten he even existed.

But now, hearing it, everything came rushing back.

I guess he had refused to let go even after the divorce.

“I thought he’d changed,” I said, voice low and shaking with rage. I clenched my fists so hard my nails dug into my palms.

“Turns out he’s busy plotting my death.”

“Henry,” I seethed, the word dripping with venom. “I swear with everything in me, I will make you pay for this!”

“You absolutely sure ’bout this, Elis?” Damian asked, pushing himself up straighter against the headboard, wincing as he moved but ignoring the pain.

Elis nodded fast, his eyes wide and earnest.

“Of course I am. When Evelyn and I were arguing after the meeting, I saw him. He came out from a corner, and got into the car. He rolled up the windows when he attacked, but I recognized him when he c

DAMIAN’S POVElis froze instantly, the question hitting him like a punch to the chest. He looked down, ashamed, then nodded.“Yes, she left right after. She called me useless, said I messed up her grand plan. She only wanted me for the company. I was blind. How could I not see through her games? How could I believe her over you?”I had warned him. Dad had warned him. But he wouldn’t listen he thought he was special.Funny how Karma doesn’t take long anymore lately… it struck fast.“But I told you,” I said quietly. “I warned you. Dad warned you.”“I’m sorry,” he whispered.“I should have known better. She’s already on her way to London. And I’ve never felt so useless in my entire life. I did everything to please her, to make her proud. But when I failed, she turned her back on me instantly. What kind of mother does that? How can she be so heartless?”He crawled closer, his tears falling like a broken faucet.“Please, Damian. Forgive me. I’m not asking for the company back, I don’t care

  • Revenge With My Brother’s Best Friend    Chapter 108

DAMIAN’S POVMy entire body froze the moment Elis walked through the door. I swallowed hard, my throat tight, muscles locking up in an instant. The dull throb in my ribs flared sharper, and a headache pulsed behind my eyes, reminding me I had just survived being hit by a car.Every breath felt like sandpaper scraping inside my chest. He looked nothing like the brother who had stood against me in the boardroom just hours ago.His hair was a mess, strands falling into his face. The suit jacket was gone, his crisp white shirt now wrinkled and untucked, sleeves rolled unevenly. His face was pale, eyes red-rimmed and hollow, the usual confidence replaced by something raw and broken. He looked small, like the boy I used to protect, not the man who had helped take everything from me.I didn’t know how to react.Part of me wanted to feel relief that my little brother still cared enough to show up.Another part wanted to stay angry, to hold onto the betrayal from earlier—the words he had said,

  • Revenge With My Brother’s Best Friend    Chapter 107

CINDY’S POVI scoffed loudly. Fucking pathetic, desperate bitch.I wanted to cuss her out right there, but Damian, as if reading my mind, shook his head slightly, silently telling me to let it go.I took a deep breath and nodded back in understanding.“Damian was drunk that night,” Nancy continued. “I knew he thought I was you, Cindy. He kept saying your name, over and over. But I… I let it happen anyway. I wanted it to happen.”Her hands trembled as she pressed them together harder.“I was jealous. I’ve been jealous of you for so long. Of what you two have. I wanted to break what you had because I thought maybe… maybe then I’d have a chance.”Tears spilled down her cheeks now, and she didn’t bother wiping them away.“I hate myself for it,” she continued, her voice barely audible.“I destroyed something beautiful, and I hurt both of you in the worst way. I was selfish and cruel, and I know sorry doesn’t fix it. I know I don’t deserve forgiveness. But I needed you to hear it from me,

  • Revenge With My Brother’s Best Friend    Chapter 106

CINDY’S POVThe words broke something open inside me, and a sob tore from my throat as I leaned over him, pressing my forehead to his chest, careful of the bandages.“Oh my God, Damian, you’re back,” I whispered, my voice shaking, tears falling freely now, soaking into the hospital gown. I couldn’t stop them.I didn’t want to.His hand came up slowly, fingers threading through my hair with the little strength he had, holding me there.“I’ll never leave you,” he rasped, his voice rough and thick with emotion.“Never, baby. I promise.”I lifted my head just enough to look at him, my hands cupping his face, my thumbs brushing over the bruises blooming along his cheekbone. His eyes were open, hazy with pain and medication, but they were fixed on me like I was the only thing in the world.“I was so scared,” I confessed, my voice shaky.“I thought I lost you. I thought I’d never get to tell you how much I love you, how sorry I am for walking away when you needed me most.”He shook his head

  • Revenge With My Brother’s Best Friend    Chapter 105

CINDY’S POVI rushed Damian to the nearest hospital the moment the accident happened, my hands shaking so badly I could barely dial emergency services while pressing against the wound on his side. The ambulance ride was a blur of sirens and paramedics shouting vitals, and now here I was, standing in the sterile corridor of St. David’s Medical Center, pacing back and forth in front of his private room for what felt like hours but was only forty minutes according to the clock on the wall. The air smelled sharp with antiseptic, that clean, cold scent that always made hospitals feel more like places where hope went to die than to heal.Fluorescent lights buzzed faintly overhead, radiating a harsh white glow that made my eyes ache from crying. My white suit was ruined—streaked with blood, his blood—and I had not even noticed until a nurse offered me a scrub top that I waved away.I could not move far from the door. I could not sit.I just paced, hands clasped tight, whispering prayers unde
