“I mean every word. Why don’t you tell them the truth, mother? Why don’t you tell them the lies you’ve poisoned the pack with?” The timber in my voice rose the more I spoke. I was shaking, and I was so angry with the family members before me. Their complacency was appalling.

“Son, we are aware that your mother has been standoffish and not the warmest towards Tia. However, it is understandable that she would be this way, given her reputation.” My father attempted to de-escalate the situation, but it only fueled me more. My eyes burned with an unspeakable promise of violence if he didn’t stop. He was smart enough to detect it and did just that. But Tyson wasn’t so aware.

Tyson came around the desk and stood before me.

“You need to step back and calm down, Miles,” he warned.
