Chapter 44
Cara lay under the bed covers, ignoring the knocking at her door. She didn’t want to move, she didn’t want to speak, she just wanted to be left alone in her misery.
She had messaged Lucas on her phone and told him she was feeling sick and would be staying in the guest bedroom. She’d said she didn’t want to risk passing anything on to him and he’d agreed, but it was rare for a werewolf to be unwell, so she knew the excuse wouldn’t last long.
“Luna!” called Rani from beyond the door. “I’ve got your dinner.”
“I’m not hungry. Just leave it by the door,” she replied, mustering what energy she could.
