Abandoned Church

ELISA POV

I jerked up from my sleep. Turning on the light, my eyes searching my room as if it was at any corner of her bedroom.

When I saw it wasn't anywhere, I heaved a heavy sigh of relief. Then I pulled the leg I had injured in her dream, checking underneath it to see if there was any mark of rolling blood but no, there was no sign of that giving me full hopes that it was indeed a dream.

"It's a dream, Elisa. It's just a dream. " I kept saying that to calm myself. "You aren't a reporter, and you definitely can't dig your head in an unknown chapel, okay? It's just a dream. "

After breathing for ten times, I stood up, walking to the bathroom. I rinsed her face, glaring at her image in the mirror. My face looked like I haven't slept for days, my eyes still looked heavy and sleepy.

What's the time again...?

I went back to the room, checking the clock, 4:59 am. I went into the bathroom again, sitting in the bathtub as I buried myself in the hot water. The least thing I ever wanted to think about is my nightmare, but it came to my mind.

Indeed it was a dream, but it looked more like a reality to me. Why on earth will I ever think of being a reporter? And of all, had to dig myself into some abandoned chapel? All because I was being so inquisitive?

Stacy will laugh at me if I ever tell her of the dream. And it's quite obvious that the dream had just displayed our characters. I was the inquisitive type who loves to find out things at all means while Stacy... she was the kind who preferred being fired than to end up losing her life for what she takes to be... nothing.

She never cared about finding answers. She saw them as if it isn't her business.

I spent thirty minutes of my time in the bathroom, my body still soaked in the hot water. His face kept displaying over and over again in my head. He looked more deadly than Lucifer, where the heck did he come from by the way? And who on earth would look so pale and hungry-tasted like him?

Scoffs...

I dried up my body, heading to my wardrobe, I pulled out my navy blue tux holding it by the hanger as I went downstairs. I poured myself a cup of coffee, sipping on it. The weather is really cold for my skin, so I needed something very hot to quench it.

Life hasn't been so easy since I started my job, that was three years ago. Resigning as a reporter at the City broadcasting station, now working as the secretary for the WOODLUCK Enterprise is really stressful and way too... tiring.

My phone buzzed and I went to check on it because it was on the same chair I had hung my tux on. It was Stacy, she just sent me a message. I clicked on it, it read; " Are you still in bed, or should I come over and bath your ass up?! " With an angry emoji under it.

I smiled, replying back with a laughing emoji which she replied instantly with an emoji with a confused face. Stacy can be funny at times and that's one good reason I made her my best friend. Stacy and I have been close friends since first grade in college and we went separate ways after our graduation. And now, we've ended up here, in the same company, back again as the best friends we were.

I pulled myself into my suit, adjusting my skirt on my 46 inch waist and with any slight chance, I would be tearing it off even before it can reach my thighs. I wore my hills, with my car key jingling in-between my fingers, I shut the door close, leaving for WOODLUCK.

The drive to the company is only thirty minutes and I hardly experience traffic jams around my area, so my salary is hardly tampered with. All thanks to Mr Kent for being a real family friend. If not for him, I would have been roaming around the city just to find a suitable apartment for myself.

I entered the elevator which took me to the 12th floor. Dan was the first to welcome me then Stacy with two cups of coffee in her hands. " You're late. "She told me, stretching her right hand at me.

" Late? " I said, looking at my wrist watch, " It's 7:25 and there's still forty five minutes left before work starts, so I'm not even close to being late. " I took the coffee from her, sipping on it. " What about Mr Kent? "

" He's not here yet. " She replied as we went towards my office.

" What? " I noticed her staring at me like she'd caught me stealing from Mr Kent's office.

" Had a bad night? " Excuse me, did she just read my mind?

" What? No! " Honestly, I had one. A really bad one. " Why do you ask? "

She shrugged, " Your eyes did tell me. Wait, how did you drive the whole way from your house to WOODLUCK like this? I mean, you look like you've been having real sleepless nights for the past one week if I may say. "

I rubbed my eyes gently, " Is it really that obvious? " I asked, looking at her.

" Yeah, very well. What kind of bad dreams are there? "

" It's no bad dreams, I couldn't sleep last night. " I lied, " Actually, I was surfing the internet. "

" Goodluck with that. "

" Good morning, Mr Kent. " I stopped halfway from pulling the doorknob open as soon as we heard other staff's greetings.

" Good morning, everyone. " He said while he walked to his office.

" Mr Kent. " I called, walking close to him. " Good morning, boss. " I greeted.

" Good morning, boss. " Stacy greeted.

" Elisa, Stacy, it's nice to see you two this morning. "

"Thanks boss. " We said in unison, smiling.

"Elisa, what happened to your face? " He asked, the smile on his face faded as if he had seen a ghost on my face.

I touched my face, keeping a surprise face. I really ain't surprised. I mean, Stacy just told me that a few minutes ago. But is it really that obvious? Oh no, I didn't leave my house looking so awkward like this, did I? " I had a bad night. " I simply told him. Who would be so open to tell a bad nightmare like mine?

"Mmm. " He hummed. " You can visit the chapel tonight before driving home. "

Chapel? Did he just say the chapel? I'm f*cking going nowhere close to that place. " I will try my best. " Honestly, I definitely won't.

He entered his office but I knew pretty well that Stacy wasn't convinced with my reply. " You're going nowhere, are you? "

"Me? Of course I will. Who doesn't wanna have a good night's sleep tonight? " I left my office, dropping my bag on my desk. " I don't think I'm gonna have a good night's sleep tonight. " I said, sitting on my chair.

"Why do you say so? " She asked me.

" Cos, that's just the truth. "

"You really did have a bad night, right? " I nodded, sighing heavily.

"Would you mind telling me, " She sat opposite me, " what this dream actually is all about? "

"It's about us, Stacy, the both of us. "

"What about us? "

"In my dream we were reporters, " I started, " a very good one. So, we were sent to get information about this particular village. I don't know the name but all I do know is that it was the weirdest village I've ever been. "

"What information are we to find about this village? " She asked, sounding much like a reporter.

"I don't know, Stacy, all I know is that we were asked to find something solid about the village. "

"Okay. So... "

"So, we went to this village and inside this village we went to a church. Actually, it wasn't just an ordinary church, it was an abandoned chapel."
