**Stella's POV**

I force myself to breathe and think how best he needs me to play the fake girlfriend.

I lean into him, trying to look natural even though my heart is racing. "Yes," I manage, surprised by how steady my voice sounds. "They do."

Vanessa's perfectly made-up face hardens. Her eyes narrow as she looks between us, clearly trying to find the lie.

"How... quaint." The word drips with condescension. "When and where did you two meet?"

There's a beat of silence. I can feel Shawn's fingers flex against my hip. I better step up.

"That's private," I say, lifting my chin and channeling that confidence the lingerie gave me earlier.

Vanessa's smile doesn't reach her eyes. "Of course it is." She turns her attention back to Shawn, essentially dismissing me. "Shawn, when you get tired of playing house with this... Omega... you know where to find me."

The emphasis on "omega" is designed to cut and make me feel inadequate.

And it works.

But before I can respond, Shawn

**Stella's POV** Heat floods my face, spreads down my neck, and pools between my legs. "I'm sorry but I can't control it—" "I know." His knuckles are white on the steering wheel. A muscle ticks in his jaw. "Just... try to breathe and think about something else." I squeeze my eyes shut, trying to focus on anything else. The upcoming custody hearing. My pups. Meeting my brothers. But all I can think about is Shawn. The way his arm felt around my waist in the lobby—possessive, claiming. The way he called me his girlfriend like he meant it. The way he looked at me when I came back from the bathroom, like he wanted to devour me. The way he almost kissed me in my father's office. Heat pulses through me in waves. My inner thighs are slick. I'm wet and aching and desperate. My thighs clench together involuntarily, seeking friction. "Fuck," Shawn mutters under his breath, and I hear the strain in it—the barely leashed control. "I'm sorry—" "Stop apologizing." His voice is ro

**Stella's POV** Victor's entire face lights up with genuine joy. "Yes," he says, his smile wide. "Two sons from my current marriage. Elijah is twenty-four, John is twenty-one." My heart skips. "I have brothers?" "And they're going to be thrilled to meet you," Victor continues, his enthusiasm infectious. "I told them about you this morning. Elijah called me immediately, demanding to know when he could meet his sister. John sent about fifteen text messages." I feel emotion welling in my chest. My whole life, I've been an only child. Alone. And now— "When can I meet them?" I ask, unable to keep the eagerness from my voice. "Soon," Victor promises. "Very soon. Once we get this custody situation sorted, we'll have a proper family dinner. All of us together." I can't believe I have more family members. The joy is almost overwhelming. Throughout the rest of dinner, I try to focus on the conversation, on my father's stories about Elijah and John. But I'm increasingly

**Stella's POV** A few minutes later, I'm calm enough to notice the restaurant interior is even more breathtaking than the reception area. Crystal chandeliers cast a warm, golden glow over tables draped in pristine white linens. Each place setting features more silverware than I've ever seen at one meal. The other diners are all dressed impeccably—suits, designer dresses, jewelry that catches the light. I feel every eye on us as we're led to a private room with the VIP sign on top of the door. Or maybe I'm just paranoid after what happened at the entrance. Once in the VIP dining room, Victor pulls out my chair before the server can, a gesture that's both protective and gentle. Shawn takes the seat across from me, his dark eyes unreadable. "Wine?" Victor asks, already signaling the sommelier. "I—yes. Thank you." The sommelier appears with a bottle that probably costs thousands. He pours a small amount for Victor to taste, receives an approving nod, and fills our glasses

We can't simply let anyone claim to be meeting him." "I'm not claiming," I say, frustration creeping into my voice. "I am meeting him. If you could just call him—" "Miss." The younger receptionist steps forward. "This is our fine dining establishment. We have a dress code." Her eyes pointedly rake over my jeans again. "Perhaps you're looking for the cafe downstairs?" Heat floods my face. "No. I'm supposed to be here." "Really?" The blonde's perfectly shaped eyebrow arches. "May I ask the nature of your... meeting with Mr. Ace?" I hesitate. I can't tell them I'm his daughter and risk word getting out. "It's... a business meeting." The moment the words leave my mouth, I know I've made a mistake. The younger receptionist actually smirks. "A business meeting? In jeans?" "With Victor Ace?" The bl

**Stella's POV**Shawn doesn't answer my question. He just lets the silence stretch thick until I can't take it anymore."Well, will you answer me?" I ask impatiently."Your father is expecting us for dinner." His voice is cold again, like I didn't just throw myself at him."What?" I blink rapidly at his statement, the tension momentarily defused."Dinner with your dad. Let's go now." He says, walking past me."But wait—what about my clothes?" I gesture toward the bags stacked in the office. " I can't just leave them here."He doesn't even pause. "I'll have someone send them to my house."Of course he has someone to do that for him but he won't help me with my situation. I roll my eyes but don't bother arguing.I can't believe this guy.'He is so selfish,' Piper says sadly, but I refuse to let his response get to me. Yes, this is probably the heatwave talking, but the least he could do is not turn me down like Cole did."Fine," I manage. I've humiliated myself enough for one day beca
