“What? Pregnant? Who? I am not pregnant!” I denied vehemently, looking at the strange intensity in his eyes. Even though I had known him for three years, I had never seen such a manic look in his eyes. Suddenly, I didn’t want him to know about our baby. I just wanted to keep my baby safe, even if it was from his own father.
“Oh. So I must have heard wrong then,” he said, and I nodded, relief spreading through me.
“Then you don’t mind having a check-up, do you?” He asked suddenly, and I froze.
“Ch- check-up? Why?”
“Because I said so,” he said, a taunting smirk on his face, and I shook my head.
“No, Logan. I am not pregnant. And I don’t want to have a check-up.”
“Shut up! I wasn’t asking you for permission!”
Before I could speak anything more, two maids barged into the room, followed by an elderly lady in a white coat. I stiffened as I recognised her; Dr. Lana, the pack physician. So Logan had come prepared.
“Get her on the bed,” Logan barked, and the maids rushed towards me. They pushed me towards the bed, discarding my suitcase on the floor. Once they got me lying down, Dr. Lana moved towards me. Seeing her getting close, I struggled to get up, only to be held down forcefully by the two women.
“What are you doing? Release me!” I ordered in my Luna voice, only for them to turn a deaf ear.
As the doctor took my hand, checking my pulse, I thrashed violently, trying to throw her hand off mine. Ignoring my resistance, the doctor continued her examination.
“Congratulations Alpha. The Luna is indeed pregnant.”
I slumped down, all my attempts to get out of the bed dying down.
As the doctor left, Logan turned to me with a smirk.
With renewed vigor, I got up and rushed to him, taking his hand desperately.
“Logan, I know it is Clara whom you truly love. I will cut ties with you and move away from the pack. You can be with Clara freely. My child and I will never come between you. Just let me go, please,” I pleaded, and Logan let out a laugh, which sent chills down my spine.
“You think you can be free from me just because you cut your hair short?” he asked, his eyes narrowing as he took in my now short hair. From the disgust that flashed in his eyes, I knew he hated seeing it short. Exactly what I wanted.
“Why are you trying to keep me here, Logan? I know you don’t even really want to have a baby with me!” I asked, and he raised his brows.
“It doesn’t matter who carries the baby. It will be Clara who will raise him. You are just carrying the Alpha Heir for us.”
I just stared at him incredulously as he leaned towards me, his eyes full of indifference.
“You are not allowed to leave anywhere before having this baby. So don’t get any ideas. Just stay here obediently and give birth to the child. If you stay good, maybe I will let you live once the child is born,” he warned and without waiting for my reply, he stepped out of the room. Then he turned to the guards.
“Always guard the room vigilantly. Don’t let her escape. And watch her well. Don’t give her any chance to harm the baby,” he ordered the guards as I clenched my fists. So he was worried I would rather kill the baby than give it to Clara?
With another chilling glare in my direction, Logan walked away, and I slumped back on the bed, a prisoner in my own home.
I didn’t know how long I stayed there until I heard a commotion near the door. I looked up, the tears long dried on my cheeks.
I narrowed my eyes as I saw the visitor, all my grief turning to anger.
Wearing yet another pink dress, Clara sauntered towards me, her eyes full of smug confidence.
“Luna!” The guards greeted her enthusiastically, and I stiffened. Luna? I was the Alpha’s fated mate, the one who diligently carried out the Luna duties for the pack for three years. And now these people forgot my very existence just like that? This was the pack for which I had shed my blood and sweat for three years…
“Hello again, Celina,” Clara greeted me, and I glared at her in response.
“Why so salty? It is not good for the baby, you know?”
“I know what is good for my baby,” I snapped at her.
“Ah. That is where you are wrong, dear Celina. This is not your baby. It is MY baby,” she said, emphasizing the ‘my’ and I straightened up.
“Thank you so much for carrying this baby for me, Celina. I will always be grateful for this help,” Clara said, her voice taunting though she was uttering words of gratitude.
“When did I offer to give you my baby? It is not my fault you are barren! I will never give up my baby!” I yelled, and she just smirked, ignoring my outburst.
Clara’s eyes flashed as I called her barren, and for a moment I was certain she was going to lash out at me. But then she smiled, and somehow it felt worse than if she had snapped at me.
“You have to rein in that temper of yours, Celina,” she said with a sugary sweet smile. “By the way, since you are already doing me such a huge favor, you won’t mind doing me another little favor, do you?” Clara asked, and I felt a sense of danger looming over me.
“What are you up to?” I asked warily.
“Don’t worry, Celina. I won’t do anything to harm you when you are carrying my baby.”
I continued staring at her, not in the least assured by her words.
“Nurse Ella, please come in,” Clara called out, and I watched with confusion as a middle-aged woman in white scrubs came inside. Seeing the medical kit in her hand, I had an ominous feeling.
“See, Celina, you know I have been lying in a coma for three years. I am so weak right now, and I have to build my strength back soon.”
I narrowed my eyes at her. What did it have to do with me?
“Imagine my surprise when I heard that transfusing the blood from a pregnant werewolf will do wonders to boost my stamina? And if it is from a Luna werewolf, all the better! I will even get bonus power! Isn’t that good news?”
My eyes widened in horror as I realised what she was planning to do.
“No!” I yelled at her, my hands flying to my stomach protectively.
“Come on, Celina. We are practically sisters now that Logan is your mate and I am his girlfriend. Wouldn’t you even donate a little blood to your sister?”
Sister? Seriously?
As I stared at her in stunned disbelief, Celina smirked at me.
“I don’t need your permission anyway, but if you know what is good for you, you will cooperate. Otherwise, don’t blame me after suffering any unnecessary pain.”
“Ella, just draw the blood from her. And be careful to draw exactly as much as possible. Don’t cause any harm to the alpha heir, got it?” She instructed the nurse.
Taking a syringe and a vial, the nurse stepped towards me, and I crawled back, looking at Clara desperately.
“You can’t do this! What if something happens to the baby?!”
“I already told you I won’t harm the baby. Now stay silent and let her do her job!”
As the nurse tried to draw blood from me, I slapped the syringe away.
“Stay away from me!” I yelled, and Clara let out a sigh before shaking her head.
“You just had to make it hard, didn’t you?” She turned towards the guards.
“Hold her in place!” She ordered, and the men rushed to obey her order with a fervor they had never shown me.
I tried to throw them off, but with two bulky men holding me down, I could only struggle helplessly. As the nurse crouched down beside me, getting ready to stab me with the needle, I turned to Clara.
“If Logan knows what you are doing, do you think you can get away with it? He may not care about me, but I am carrying his heir! He will not let it go if something happens to the baby!”
Just as I finished threatening Clara, Logan stepped into the room. As he stood there, his eyes scanned the scene in front of him while his face betrayed no emotion.
~Celina~I stared at Derek, thoughts churning inside my mind. My memories… Was something really wrong with them? I had never thought much about it before. My past had always been something distant, but never something I felt the need to question. Now, it didn’t feel distant anymore. It felt… missing. I tried to think. Not casually like I always had, but pushing myself to go further back than I ever had before. To reach for something that existed before that moment I had always accepted as the beginning. The day my mother had brought me to Mike. I closed my eyes briefly, concentrating. That day came easily. Too easily. Her hand holding mine, the unfamiliar path, the quiet exchange between her and Mike, the way she had looked at me before she left. And then nothing. No fragments or flashes. No blurred pieces of something just out of reach. Just emptiness.I opened my eyes slowly, a frown on my lips as realization dawned.“That’s the first thing I remember,” I said quietly. “The day she
~Celina~By the next morning, the unease from the previous day hadn’t faded. If anything, it was far deeper than before. It wasn’t the kind of feeling that I could ignore or brush aside as imagination. It stayed with me through the night every time I let my mind drift back to Amanda’s words and the ritual she had described. And the more I thought about it, the harder it became to dismiss the connection that had begun to form in my head. Clara and the dark witch who had been with her while performing the ritual to summon me back to Logan’s pack. Early in the morning, I stepped out of my room, ready to meet Derek. I simply couldn’t wait anymore. Derek would already be working, and if there was even the smallest chance that what I was thinking mattered, I wasn’t going to hold onto it any longer than necessary. The walk to his office felt longer than usual somehow. By the time I reached the door, I had already gone over it more than once, questioning whether I was overthinking it, wheth
~Derek~After meeting Amanda, I went back to my office. I sat on my chair and let out a sigh. Amanda’s words and their implications kept ringing inside my mind even as I tried to ground myself. Right under my nose, someone had the audacity to kidnap people, and they even had the audacity to kill them as sacrifices. That too young maidens who hadn’t even begun their lives. How dare they?I couldn’t get that girl’s terrified wide eyes out of my mind. When I find whoever was doing it, they will wish that they had never even been born in this world. I will make sure of that. This is a promise to the poor girl who died so unjustly.I leaned back in my seat before mindlinking James.‘James, come to my office.’‘Alright. On my way,’ came his swift reply. In just a few moments, I heard a knock on the door.“Come in,” I said, and watched as James walked inside, his gaze meeting mine with a mix of anticipation and nervousness. “Did you find anything after seeing the body?” He asked right away
~Celina~The moment I stepped back inside my room after coming back from Amanda’s place, I closed the door behind me. Leaning back against it, I closed my eyes as thoughts raced inside me. My mind kept circling back to what Amanda had said. Seven sacrifices. If it succeeds, it would result in them gaining power that couldn’t be contained. Just the thought filled my mind with dread. And the most troubling of all, the peculiar feeling I got in the midst of listening to her words.I moved further into the room, lowering myself onto the edge of the bed, my fingers resting absently against my stomach as I tried to make sense of what I had felt. It hadn’t been pain. Not even discomfort. Just a disturbance. A ripple that had passed through me so quickly I could have dismissed it if it hadn’t felt so wrong. Was it just a normal reaction to those chilling words? I mean anyone would feel something after hearing about a ritual like that. Death, sacrifice, something dark enough to rattle even so
~Celina~It was only after Derek left the pack that I received the news that he had gone to see the body. For a moment I felt bad that he hadn't asked me to tag along even though I was the one who suggested that the missing girls were kidnapped to be killed as ritual sacrifices. But then I snapped out of it. In fact, I felt grateful that he spared me from seeing such a scene. I was a warrior who had seen many things in my life, but now it was different. I was carrying a life and I shouldn't expose myself to such negativities.A few hours passed by, and I stood waiting outside. The moment Derek stepped out of the car, I felt his energy just call out to me somehow. I walked towards him even before I made the decision to do so.Even though his face didn't look any different, just the usual blank expression there, I knew he was tense. Something about the body had shaken up even the unshakable Alpha King.As if sensing my stare, Derek looked straight at me. Then he paused for a moment befo
~Derek~The moment the guard spoke of finding a body, the energy in the entire room shifted.“What?!” Fiona was the first to blurt out, her eyes wide in shock.Even though I was also taken aback by the news, I didn’t react outwardly. Instead, I stared at the guard calmly.“Details,” I said. The guard straightened immediately. “Yes, Your Highness! A group of students were the ones who reported the body first. They said they were hiking near the northern forest border, just beyond the Royal territory. There they stumbled upon a body accidentally.”He paused for a moment before continuing. “They fled the area in panic and ran into one of our patrol units. The guards secured the location and confirmed the sighting before sending word back.”“Identification?” I asked, staring at him evenly.“It has been confirmed, Your Highness. The body belongs to Yana Harlow, one of the missing women.”Not just one of the women, but the one who went missing first. The very first victim too turned out t
~Logan~“I think this blue gown makes my eyes look bluish rather than gray. But then again, this red one is stunning and goes well with my dark hair. Logan! Which one do you think I should wear to the Alpha Summit?” Clara asked excitedly, raising two gowns, and I gritted my teeth as I stared at her
~Celina ~I stared at James, my mind full of confusion. Derek had been so busy these days that I hadn’t even gotten a glimpse of him. Now that I knew the Alpha Summit was coming, I knew he was probably dealing with its preparations. After all, a meeting where all sorts of Alphas, probably even those
~Celina~I wiped off my sweat with a towel and sat back on the bench, panting heavily. “Good match, Celina!” Rachel said cheerfully, plopping next to me, looking fresh as a daisy compared to the sweaty mess that was me. It was moments like these when I missed my warrior powers and envied the warri
~Celina~The air felt like it froze for a few seconds as I stared at Fiona, expecting her to make the realisation at any moment. As I stood there with my nerves coiled like a spring, Fiona raised her brows at me.“N-no! There is nothing like that!” I yelled out, flustered, and seeing Fiona blink at
