“Granddaughter.” Marcus’s voice pulled Scarlett out of her thoughts once again.

Marcus stepped closer and touched her hand with deep concern. “Are you feeling unwell? You’ve looked so pale ever since we started.”

Scarlett looked up at her grandfather with an awkward smile. “I’m fine, Grandfather.”

In her past life, Marcus had been one of the people she respected the most. But respect didn’t mean she could place her full trust in him so freely, not yet, at least. She still couldn’t be sure if everyone and everything around her was exactly as she remembered.

“I just feel a little light-headed, that’s all. I’ll be okay,” she said, squeezing his hand in return, trying to reassure the old man that she didn’t need extra attention.

Just as Marcus was about to speak again, the sharp crash of breaking glass suddenly echoed through the hall.

Crash!

The sound of a glass falling and shattering against the floor rang out loud and clear, cutting through the quiet of the grand room. Every head turned toward the source of the noise. Viviane stood there, her face ashen, hands trembling, with shards of glass scattered all around her feet.

“Oh, I’m so sorry!” she cried out. “My hand slipped. Sister, Grandfather, please forgive me. I never meant to cause such a disturbance at such an important event. Please don’t be angry with me, Sister.”

She lowered her head, looking so ashamed that she seemed unable to lift her face. Several guests immediately began to voice their sympathy for her.

“Poor Viviane… she must be so nervous.”

“Come now, it was just a glass.”

“I hope Scarlett won’t be cross with her.”

“Oh dear, I hope she doesn’t get punished. I’ve heard Scarlett can be terribly harsh toward her.”

Scarlett heard every word, and every single one of them painted her as the villain. Back then, in her previous life, she would have rushed straight over to Viviane, helped her up, and said something in a tone that sounded like a lecture or a reprimand. Viviane would then burst into tears, and everyone present would see Scarlett as nothing more than a cruel older sister.

But this time, Scarlett didn’t move an inch. She simply observed where the glass had fallen, the way Viviane’s hands shook, and how her younger sister kept her head bowed while glancing sideways at the guests every few seconds.

It was painfully obvious to Scarlett, Viviane was waiting for her reaction. She was waiting for Scarlett to step forward with those familiar words of advice or scolding words Viviane could twist and use against her. She wanted Scarlett to do something that could be framed as proof of how badly her older sister treated her.

‘So she’s finally making her move. But this time, I won’t play your game, little sister.’

Slowly, Scarlett smiled, a calm, faint smile. “Don’t worry about it, Viviane. Accidents like that can happen to anyone, at any time.”

Viviane lifted her head slowly, looking confused, her brow furrowed in puzzlement.

“Attendants, please clean up this broken glass. And check my sister’s hands carefully, I wouldn’t want her to get hurt.”

Several servants hurried over at once, some attended to Viviane, while others quickly swept up the shattered pieces. The hall filled with whispers once more, but this time, the tone was different, and every eye was fixed on Scarlett again.

“Since when has Scarlett ever been this kind to Viviane?”

“I really thought she’d scold her, just like she always does.”

“Maybe we’ve misjudged her all this time.”

Scarlett let the whispers spread and swirl around her until they nearly filled the room, acting as if she heard nothing at all. She didn’t need to defend herself in front of everyone.

Viviane still tried to keep up her sad, sorrowful expression. But the thoughts running through her mind were loud and clear to Scarlett.

‘What is going on here? Why isn’t she angry? Normally she’d be blaming me right away, lecturing me with all those self-righteous words she loves so much! Why isn’t she falling for it?’

She looked back at Viviane, her expression soft and gentle. “Go along with the attendants now. Make sure your hands are properly checked. This event is far from over, after all, there are still many guests who haven’t arrived yet.”

Viviane froze for a split second, she knew exactly who Scarlett was referring to. Her eyes darted quickly toward the guests, landing on Levi’s seat, which still stood empty. She stood there in silence for a moment, before finally turning to follow the servants.

Scarlett met her gaze calmly, then turned her attention back to the hall. More and more guests were arriving now, greeting the elders, most of whom had already taken their seats. Levi was one of those expected to come.

‘Let Viviane feel uneasy. Let her wonder if I’ve already seen right through every single one of her plans.’

For the first time, Scarlett truly understood, fighting against someone cunning and malicious didn’t mean you had to strike back at every single attack they made. Sometimes, the best move was to let your opponent believe they were still the one in control.

Yet, deep down, Scarlett still felt far from calm. There were too many things she didn’t know yet, how Viviane had gotten hold of that poisonous potion, how far her sister’s schemes had advanced, or why, and when her own sharp, wolf-like instincts had suddenly faded away.

So many secrets still lay hidden.

‘Viviane, I’m going to find out exactly what you’re really after… who has been helping you… and why you want to destroy me so desperately. This time, I’m going to strip away every last one of your masks… right here, in front of everyone.’

Close to midnight, Scarlett felt faint vibrations of energy seeping through the cracks in her bedroom walls. She ran her hand along the inner wall of the dark passage and recognized Levi’s power lingering there.‘Thank goodness I still remember this room. It is the only space connected to the secret passages leading to the main hall and the clan’s hidden chambers. I suspect even Grandfather has forgotten these tunnels. My father was the one who built them, after all.’She moved slowly through the darkness, guided only by the pale glow of a flat white crystal held in her hand. Stopping at a fork in the passage, she sensed a sudden surge of energy coming from the direction of the great hall.‘Perfect. It looks like Levi has taken the bait and is moving exactly as I hoped. Thankfully I still had enough strength left to place new warning crystals along every wall in this section.’She turned and followed another branch of the passage until she found an old lever set into the wall. It look

‘I hope I can break through the barrier in Damian’s mind this time.’Scarlett clenched her hands tightly for a moment, steadying herself as she caught sight of Damian standing and waiting for her.She had come accompanied by Mia, who stood a short distance away in the garden on the west side of the Shadowmoon clan castle gates. This spot was rarely used for meetings or walks, as it lay far from the castle’s main entrance. She waved to Damian, who walked toward her with his usual upright, composed bearing."Why did you want to meet in a place like this, Scarlett?" Damian asked, going straight to the point."I am sorry to trouble you with coming here tonight. I could not speak openly after classes. You must know Grandfather has forbidden me from returning to the academy until the appointed day arrives," Scarlett replied, sounding awkward."It is no trouble. I was just..." Damian shifted his hands nervously and scratched his cheek, though there was no itch there. "I was surprised when I

Scarlett released her grip on Mia, her hands trembling slightly. "No. What I mean is... this... this..."She held out both palms toward Mia. "I can feel Damian’s energy and scent right here. So I thought... he was the one who helped me. Am I right? What exactly did he do? Tell me the truth, Mia."The fear and confusion on Mia’s face faded, replaced by a heavy sigh of relief.‘I was so worried she could read my mind. That would have been terrible. If Damian really was the first one to find her, I would never have been able to lie about it. She would have punished me, and she would have been so embarrassed.’Mia was right. Scarlett felt far more than embarrassment. Heat flooded her face and spread through every inch of her body. She pressed her hands to her temples and rubbed them slowly, trying to hide how flustered she truly was.‘Oh no. Damian found me first? And I was... in that state? How could I possibly face him after something like this? It is absolutely mortifying.’"Miss, are

Scarlett wiped the sweat from her face. She stumbled suddenly and nearly fell, catching herself quickly against the wall beside her.‘Oh, no. That spell drained too much of my energy.’ She stared at her hands, which were still trembling from the exertion.‘Why is it this bad? Is it because of this new mind reading ability I just gained? No. I have to learn to control it. Especially since I can feel Alea’s power growing weaker by the moment.’Suddenly, a sharp, distinct scent drifted toward her. Scarlett gasped and forced herself to move toward the hidden doorway behind the Moon Goddess statue. Through the crystal orb held in the statue’s hand, she caught a glimpse of Marcus and several Elders hurrying toward the main hall.‘This is bad. Did Grandfather sense the energy shift from the sacred scroll because of what I did? I have to get out of here now!’Her steps were heavy and unsteady, but she reached the passage entrance just as the heavy chains securing the main doors began to rattle

'Six more days.’Scarlett stood and gazed at the old almanac hanging on the wall. She ran her fingers over the thick, yellowed pages, marked with symbols shaped like sharp spikes, drawings of the moon in every phase, and complex calculations scrawled in between. She picked up a flat, smooth crystal stone from her table and called Mia’s name after tapping its surface once. Immediately, Mia’s face appeared as a clear reflection within the stone, looking back at her.“My Lady, is there anything else you require?” Mia asked, her voice carrying clearly through the magical link.“Nothing for now. If you have finished the task I gave you earlier, you may rest in my old chambers until dinner is served. Do not disturb me here until then.”Scarlett ended the connection as soon as she heard Mia’s obedient reply. She slipped the flat stone into a small pouch tied at her waist, then turned and began walking around the room, searching carefully.‘According to what I remember, somewhere within the wa

“Please...” Scarlett stepped between Levi and Damian, her arms outstretched toward both men.“Stop making a scene here. All I want is some peace and quiet.” She turned back to face Levi.“And you, Levi, if you are truly so confident your name is written there, you should not need to shout about it. You even accused anyone and everyone of being able to alter the names on that sacred scroll, as if the names are easy to change, when it is obvious they cannot be modified once set in place. Unless...” She paused.“Unless someone intentionally tried to change them...” She looked slowly at every person gathered there, one by one. “And usually, the person who immediately thinks of that possibility is the one who knows exactly what really happened.”Her words made everyone exchange meaningful glances, until all eyes settled on Levi. His jaw tightened, and he clenched his fists so hard his knuckles turned white.Levi knew Scarlett was guiding everyone’s opinion to turn against him, and he was co
