FAZER LOGIN“Relax, Viviane. I am certain the name written there is my eternal soulmate. Why are you so worried about me? Are you afraid it might turn out to be yours?” Scarlett retorted calmly.
Her words, laden with hidden meaning, shocked everyone present, not just Viviane, but Levi most of all.
“Scarlett! What are you talking about? Viviane is genuinely concerned for you! She is kind and always looks out for you. Why do you always treat her this way?” Levi spoke up unthinkingly, defending Viviane in front of everyone and swaying public opinion against Scarlett.
Just as expected Viviane suddenly drew closer and knelt before Scarlett, who stood watching in silence. Scarlett instinctively stepped away from her, her face showing plain boredom.
“Sister, please forgive me if I upset you. I truly only want the best for you, Sister. You see, you are the only family I have left aside from Grandfather… even though he always seems to put you first… I… I am so sorry…” Viviane began to cry, bowing her head, feigning shame that she could not even reach out to Scarlett.
‘You wretched girl, Scarlett! If she keeps stepping away from me like this, how am I supposed to provoke her?!’ Viviane’s inner scream rang loud and clear inside Scarlett’s head, making her temples throb and her mind buzz. She has not yet grown accustomed to the new powers granted to her by the Moon Goddess.
“Go away, Viv,” Scarlett said. “Stay back,” she added firmly, causing Viviane to break down into sobs.
“Scarlett! That is too much! She only wants to apologize to you. How can you be so cruel to her?” Levi cut in, stepping forward and pulling Viviane into his embrace.
Scarlett looked at the two of them with a bitter smile.
“It seems tonight’s event is all about Viviane, isn’t it? Look at this… without even needing the ritual or the sacred scroll, you have already found your eternal mate, Viviane.”
Everyone instantly realized how improper the scene looked. Levi and Viviane jumped apart in panic. Whispers erupted across the hall, eyes fixed on them with judgment and suspicion. While the pair scrambled to explain it away as nothing more than an instinctive reaction between childhood friends, a sudden burst of laughter drew every gaze, including Scarlett’s, toward Damian.
“What is so funny, Damian?” Levi glared sharply at Damian, who was leaning comfortably against one of the hall’s massive pillars.
Damian spread his hands casually.
“I laugh because it is amusing. I, along with a few other friends, grew up with Scarlett and attended the Academy with her. Yet, none of us ever made a habit of… embracing… each other like that… doesn’t that look far more like lovers than friends?”
Eyes widened in shock as everyone absorbed his words, and realized he was right. The murmurs grew louder, most of them now gossiping about the unnatural closeness between Levi and Viviane.
“Besides, this is Scarlett’s ceremony. Whatever decision lies within that sacred scroll, there is no need for such a fuss, especially when Scarlett herself is willing to wait. Why are you two the ones making all the noise? Shouldn’t it be Scarlett who is concerned? Concerned whether her future Alpha will truly be the best choice for her, and whether he will be able to protect her and both our packs for all time?” Damian added, his words resonating with the crowd, who nodded in agreement.
Scarlett felt heat rise to her cheeks. She realized Damian was defending her, in his own distinct way. She remembered how, in her past life, he had often done the same for her, but she had always misunderstood his intentions and it had only led to arguments. Back then, her heart had been so utterly blinded by her love for Levi.
Stung by Damian’s words, Levi instantly summoned his wolf spirit to the surface, bristling toward Damian.
“Damian! What exactly are you implying? Of course I will take responsibility! And I will be a worthy Alpha for Scarlett and both our packs!”
Gasps rippled through the guests as they saw Levi ready to bare his wolf and fight.
“Wow! You speak as if you know for certain your name is written there, Levi. You are very confident, aren’t you?”
Damian’s remark made Levi growl in pure rage.
“LEVI, ENOUGH! This is a sacred ceremony! Kneel immediately and beg forgiveness from the Moon Goddess!” Marcus thundered at them both.
The two men hurried forward and knelt before the statue of the Moon Goddess.
“Now, let us proceed with the next part of the ceremony. Scarlett and her future mate must drink this potion together. It has been blessed by the Moon Goddess for the future Luna and Alpha, to ensure a strong and enduring bloodline. Therefore, Scarlett shall take the first sip now,” Marcus announced, motioning to a maid who stepped forward carrying a tray with a chalice.
‘Now! Even if you choose Levi, you will never bear his children. I have poisoned this drink so that you will be barren forever… and then you will DIE!’ Viviane suppressed a smirk as she and Scarlett locked eyes for a brief moment.
‘Thank you, Viviane. I had almost forgotten about this poisoned potion. But your little reminder just saved my life,’ Scarlett smiled inwardly as the maid reached her side.
But just as Scarlett took the chalice in her right hand and lifted it to her lips, she suddenly stumbled. The cup slipped from her grasp, and the liquid spilled across the floor. Instantly, thick black smoke billowed upward, and the stone beneath melted away, leaving a scorched hole. Every eye went wide in horror, especially when they saw Scarlett collapse weakly to the ground.
“SCALIO…!”
That voice echoed in Scarlett’s mind just as her vision began to fade.
‘He… The one I have been searching for all this time! Who is he?"
Close to midnight, Scarlett felt faint vibrations of energy seeping through the cracks in her bedroom walls. She ran her hand along the inner wall of the dark passage and recognized Levi’s power lingering there.‘Thank goodness I still remember this room. It is the only space connected to the secret passages leading to the main hall and the clan’s hidden chambers. I suspect even Grandfather has forgotten these tunnels. My father was the one who built them, after all.’She moved slowly through the darkness, guided only by the pale glow of a flat white crystal held in her hand. Stopping at a fork in the passage, she sensed a sudden surge of energy coming from the direction of the great hall.‘Perfect. It looks like Levi has taken the bait and is moving exactly as I hoped. Thankfully I still had enough strength left to place new warning crystals along every wall in this section.’She turned and followed another branch of the passage until she found an old lever set into the wall. It look
‘I hope I can break through the barrier in Damian’s mind this time.’Scarlett clenched her hands tightly for a moment, steadying herself as she caught sight of Damian standing and waiting for her.She had come accompanied by Mia, who stood a short distance away in the garden on the west side of the Shadowmoon clan castle gates. This spot was rarely used for meetings or walks, as it lay far from the castle’s main entrance. She waved to Damian, who walked toward her with his usual upright, composed bearing."Why did you want to meet in a place like this, Scarlett?" Damian asked, going straight to the point."I am sorry to trouble you with coming here tonight. I could not speak openly after classes. You must know Grandfather has forbidden me from returning to the academy until the appointed day arrives," Scarlett replied, sounding awkward."It is no trouble. I was just..." Damian shifted his hands nervously and scratched his cheek, though there was no itch there. "I was surprised when I
Scarlett released her grip on Mia, her hands trembling slightly. "No. What I mean is... this... this..."She held out both palms toward Mia. "I can feel Damian’s energy and scent right here. So I thought... he was the one who helped me. Am I right? What exactly did he do? Tell me the truth, Mia."The fear and confusion on Mia’s face faded, replaced by a heavy sigh of relief.‘I was so worried she could read my mind. That would have been terrible. If Damian really was the first one to find her, I would never have been able to lie about it. She would have punished me, and she would have been so embarrassed.’Mia was right. Scarlett felt far more than embarrassment. Heat flooded her face and spread through every inch of her body. She pressed her hands to her temples and rubbed them slowly, trying to hide how flustered she truly was.‘Oh no. Damian found me first? And I was... in that state? How could I possibly face him after something like this? It is absolutely mortifying.’"Miss, are
Scarlett wiped the sweat from her face. She stumbled suddenly and nearly fell, catching herself quickly against the wall beside her.‘Oh, no. That spell drained too much of my energy.’ She stared at her hands, which were still trembling from the exertion.‘Why is it this bad? Is it because of this new mind reading ability I just gained? No. I have to learn to control it. Especially since I can feel Alea’s power growing weaker by the moment.’Suddenly, a sharp, distinct scent drifted toward her. Scarlett gasped and forced herself to move toward the hidden doorway behind the Moon Goddess statue. Through the crystal orb held in the statue’s hand, she caught a glimpse of Marcus and several Elders hurrying toward the main hall.‘This is bad. Did Grandfather sense the energy shift from the sacred scroll because of what I did? I have to get out of here now!’Her steps were heavy and unsteady, but she reached the passage entrance just as the heavy chains securing the main doors began to rattle
'Six more days.’Scarlett stood and gazed at the old almanac hanging on the wall. She ran her fingers over the thick, yellowed pages, marked with symbols shaped like sharp spikes, drawings of the moon in every phase, and complex calculations scrawled in between. She picked up a flat, smooth crystal stone from her table and called Mia’s name after tapping its surface once. Immediately, Mia’s face appeared as a clear reflection within the stone, looking back at her.“My Lady, is there anything else you require?” Mia asked, her voice carrying clearly through the magical link.“Nothing for now. If you have finished the task I gave you earlier, you may rest in my old chambers until dinner is served. Do not disturb me here until then.”Scarlett ended the connection as soon as she heard Mia’s obedient reply. She slipped the flat stone into a small pouch tied at her waist, then turned and began walking around the room, searching carefully.‘According to what I remember, somewhere within the wa
“Please...” Scarlett stepped between Levi and Damian, her arms outstretched toward both men.“Stop making a scene here. All I want is some peace and quiet.” She turned back to face Levi.“And you, Levi, if you are truly so confident your name is written there, you should not need to shout about it. You even accused anyone and everyone of being able to alter the names on that sacred scroll, as if the names are easy to change, when it is obvious they cannot be modified once set in place. Unless...” She paused.“Unless someone intentionally tried to change them...” She looked slowly at every person gathered there, one by one. “And usually, the person who immediately thinks of that possibility is the one who knows exactly what really happened.”Her words made everyone exchange meaningful glances, until all eyes settled on Levi. His jaw tightened, and he clenched his fists so hard his knuckles turned white.Levi knew Scarlett was guiding everyone’s opinion to turn against him, and he was co
