“No! Help me!”

Scarlett woke with a start. For a moment, her vision swam and everything spun, so she pressed her fingers hard against her temples.

“Miss, you’re awake! Oh, thank goodness you’ve finally come to!” Mia exclaimed tearfully, her face red and puffy from crying.

“Mia… what happened?” Scarlett asked, still dazed.

“You collapsed suddenly last night, right at the very climax of the banquet,” Mia answered quickly. “I’ll go fetch the healer and Grandfather Elder at once!”

Scarlett grabbed her maid’s hand to stop her.

“Wait, Mia. How long have I been unconscious? Tell me everything in detail, and do not leave out a single thing,” she commanded.

Mia paused to think for a moment.

“You fainted last night and have been asleep until now, almost evening. Grandfather Elder was so worried about you, he stayed by your bedside all night and only left this morning when he was summoned to the palace,” Mia explained anxiously.

‘In my past life, I announced Levi’s name right away, drank that potion without ever knowing it was poisoned, and collapsed immediately. But last night… I never even touched it. Why did I still faint? Yet, if I hadn’t collapsed, I would never have heard that name spoken again. That’s right…’ Scarlett thought to herself.

‘Was it Levi who called me “Scalio”?’

“Then… who carried me here and brought me to bed, Mia?” she asked, her curiosity piqued.

Mia hesitated for a second. “Please forgive me, Miss. I… I didn’t see clearly. At that time, I was in the kitchen helping prepare the food to be served,” she replied.

“Why were you doing that? That is not your duty! You are not a kitchen maid, your only job is to attend and accompany me!” she said, her tone sharp with annoyance.

Mia immediately fell to her knees on the floor, trembling all over. “I beg your forgiveness, Miss, I… I…”

“I’m not angry with you, Mia. It is they who should know it was not your place to be there,” Scarlett said, softening her voice. “Stand up.” She reached out a hand to help Mia up.

‘Thank goodness she didn’t ask me who told me to go. If she had, I wouldn’t have been able to lie… I’d have had to say it was Miss Viviane’s order.’ Mia thought silently, looking troubled.

Scarlett let out a long sigh, pressing her hand to her temple, which had started throbbing again. That was when she realized something. Although she had been unsure before, she was now certain, what she had suspected was true. She would grow weak, fall ill, and her energy would drain away if she listened to too many people’s thoughts at once. That was the real reason she had fainted.

“Mia, you haven’t told me everything yet. What happened after I collapsed?” she pressed.

Mia explained how the hall had descended into chaos the moment the potion spilled, how the liquid had melted the floor and burned holes right through the stone. Most people believed Scarlett must have swallowed a little bit of the mixture, causing her to faint, some had even feared she was dead.

“But the High Elders and the healer confirmed you were simply exhausted. There was no sign of poisoning whatsoever,” Mia finished, her face bright with relief.

Scarlett sniffed the air lightly, then squeezed Mia’s hand. A faint scent lingered on her skin.

“Mia… someone is coming. Do not tell anyone I am awake. Pretend to everyone that I am still unconscious.”

Mia nodded obediently. “Very well, Miss!”

Scarlett lay back down, chanting a sleep spell to shroud her entire body. Just then, there was a soft knock on the door. Mia hurried to open it, putting on a look of panic.

“Miss Viviane, Master Levi, Master Damian… welcome,” Mia greeted nervously.

“Is my sister still not awake yet?” Viviane asked, her voice sounding strained and anxious. “What did the healer say, Mia? Is she… is she never going to wake up again?” she rambled, wringing her hands together.

‘Excellent! It looks like she did swallow a drop or two of that potion. Good riddance, she never needs to wake up ever again!’ Viviane screamed inside her head, her mental laughter ringing so loud and sharp that Scarlett’s temples throbbed with pain.

Then came Levi’s stream of thoughts. ‘If she dies, everything will be perfect. I won’t have to pretend anymore. The position of Luna will naturally fall to Viviane, which means I will automatically become her mate, and then we can be married openly at last.’

Levi cleared his throat softly. “Now, Viv, calm down. I am sure Scarlett is a strong woman, she wouldn’t die so easily. She will wake up soon and recover completely,” he said soothingly, his tone so sickeningly sweet it made Scarlett’s skin crawl.

‘How could I have ever been so blind, so hopelessly infatuated with him? I only saw the truth when it was already too late… right at the moment of my death.’

Hearing such pure falseness, Scarlett nearly lost control. Now she even doubted if Levi was truly the boy who had once saved her long ago, his behavior was so completely opposite to what she remembered.

“The healer said last night that Miss is only suffering from simple exhaustion, Sirs, Miss,” Mia chimed in quickly, her face brightening. “It is nothing serious. Hopefully, she will wake up before dinner, by the time Grandfather Elder returns.”

That statement visibly shocked Viviane and Levi. The slight catch in their breaths betrayed their deep disappointment, a reaction not missed by Damian, who had been standing quietly observing everything all this time.

“Why do I feel like you two sound… so very disappointed?” Damian remarked casually.

The atmosphere in the room instantly grew heavy and tense.

‘Damian, you really have a death wish!’ Levi’s thoughts roared.

Close to midnight, Scarlett felt faint vibrations of energy seeping through the cracks in her bedroom walls. She ran her hand along the inner wall of the dark passage and recognized Levi’s power lingering there.‘Thank goodness I still remember this room. It is the only space connected to the secret passages leading to the main hall and the clan’s hidden chambers. I suspect even Grandfather has forgotten these tunnels. My father was the one who built them, after all.’She moved slowly through the darkness, guided only by the pale glow of a flat white crystal held in her hand. Stopping at a fork in the passage, she sensed a sudden surge of energy coming from the direction of the great hall.‘Perfect. It looks like Levi has taken the bait and is moving exactly as I hoped. Thankfully I still had enough strength left to place new warning crystals along every wall in this section.’She turned and followed another branch of the passage until she found an old lever set into the wall. It look

‘I hope I can break through the barrier in Damian’s mind this time.’Scarlett clenched her hands tightly for a moment, steadying herself as she caught sight of Damian standing and waiting for her.She had come accompanied by Mia, who stood a short distance away in the garden on the west side of the Shadowmoon clan castle gates. This spot was rarely used for meetings or walks, as it lay far from the castle’s main entrance. She waved to Damian, who walked toward her with his usual upright, composed bearing."Why did you want to meet in a place like this, Scarlett?" Damian asked, going straight to the point."I am sorry to trouble you with coming here tonight. I could not speak openly after classes. You must know Grandfather has forbidden me from returning to the academy until the appointed day arrives," Scarlett replied, sounding awkward."It is no trouble. I was just..." Damian shifted his hands nervously and scratched his cheek, though there was no itch there. "I was surprised when I

Scarlett released her grip on Mia, her hands trembling slightly. "No. What I mean is... this... this..."She held out both palms toward Mia. "I can feel Damian’s energy and scent right here. So I thought... he was the one who helped me. Am I right? What exactly did he do? Tell me the truth, Mia."The fear and confusion on Mia’s face faded, replaced by a heavy sigh of relief.‘I was so worried she could read my mind. That would have been terrible. If Damian really was the first one to find her, I would never have been able to lie about it. She would have punished me, and she would have been so embarrassed.’Mia was right. Scarlett felt far more than embarrassment. Heat flooded her face and spread through every inch of her body. She pressed her hands to her temples and rubbed them slowly, trying to hide how flustered she truly was.‘Oh no. Damian found me first? And I was... in that state? How could I possibly face him after something like this? It is absolutely mortifying.’"Miss, are

Scarlett wiped the sweat from her face. She stumbled suddenly and nearly fell, catching herself quickly against the wall beside her.‘Oh, no. That spell drained too much of my energy.’ She stared at her hands, which were still trembling from the exertion.‘Why is it this bad? Is it because of this new mind reading ability I just gained? No. I have to learn to control it. Especially since I can feel Alea’s power growing weaker by the moment.’Suddenly, a sharp, distinct scent drifted toward her. Scarlett gasped and forced herself to move toward the hidden doorway behind the Moon Goddess statue. Through the crystal orb held in the statue’s hand, she caught a glimpse of Marcus and several Elders hurrying toward the main hall.‘This is bad. Did Grandfather sense the energy shift from the sacred scroll because of what I did? I have to get out of here now!’Her steps were heavy and unsteady, but she reached the passage entrance just as the heavy chains securing the main doors began to rattle

'Six more days.’Scarlett stood and gazed at the old almanac hanging on the wall. She ran her fingers over the thick, yellowed pages, marked with symbols shaped like sharp spikes, drawings of the moon in every phase, and complex calculations scrawled in between. She picked up a flat, smooth crystal stone from her table and called Mia’s name after tapping its surface once. Immediately, Mia’s face appeared as a clear reflection within the stone, looking back at her.“My Lady, is there anything else you require?” Mia asked, her voice carrying clearly through the magical link.“Nothing for now. If you have finished the task I gave you earlier, you may rest in my old chambers until dinner is served. Do not disturb me here until then.”Scarlett ended the connection as soon as she heard Mia’s obedient reply. She slipped the flat stone into a small pouch tied at her waist, then turned and began walking around the room, searching carefully.‘According to what I remember, somewhere within the wa

“Please...” Scarlett stepped between Levi and Damian, her arms outstretched toward both men.“Stop making a scene here. All I want is some peace and quiet.” She turned back to face Levi.“And you, Levi, if you are truly so confident your name is written there, you should not need to shout about it. You even accused anyone and everyone of being able to alter the names on that sacred scroll, as if the names are easy to change, when it is obvious they cannot be modified once set in place. Unless...” She paused.“Unless someone intentionally tried to change them...” She looked slowly at every person gathered there, one by one. “And usually, the person who immediately thinks of that possibility is the one who knows exactly what really happened.”Her words made everyone exchange meaningful glances, until all eyes settled on Levi. His jaw tightened, and he clenched his fists so hard his knuckles turned white.Levi knew Scarlett was guiding everyone’s opinion to turn against him, and he was co
