The Unwanted Mind Link

"Duncan,” another voice cut my mind off in a mind link. One I did not want nor need to hear at this time.

“Hello, Father,” I mentally returned. “To what do I owe this little link between us?”

“I heard your wife is finally out of prison. Why haven’t you said anything earlier?”

I quickly grew disgusted by the question. For after all, if there was one person I could name from the top of my head who favors Susan so, it was unfortunately my own father, the previous Alpha, and the one who practically forced me to marry that bitch.

“I did not think it was anything important. Not for you, at least,” I answered, as calmly as I could.

“How can this not be important? We are talking about your wife! The woman you married who gave birth to your son, and is my daughter-in-law,” he exclaimed in my head, making it pound from his voice echoing in my mind, as I gradually seethed from his demand. “While I cannot deny that she has done a terrible misdeed for someone of her position, I don’t recall that t

“Is she with you now?” I heard him ask just then, snapping me out of my rage. “She is with you, right?”“Who do you mean?” I questioned him.“I am certainly not talking about that Omega you keep seeing. And yes, I do know you have been seeing her, more than you should be working on your duties.” My face twitched from the way he referred to Ashley, and what he was insinuating of her.“Ashley is not a burden,” I mentally retorted. “She is only hurt and is trying to recover her strength in the slow natural way possible. She needs my help and support to get through her pain! But of course you wouldn’t know that, would you? Not when you never cared to get to know her for who she is now.”“I know enough about her to know that she will never be the Luna this pack needs. That she will remain being an obstacle between you and what you must do. But of course, I am not contacting you to speak of that. And clearly, there is no use in simply talking to you about your wife. Bring her to me.”I was

  • Rise of the Alpha's Rejected Luna   Peaceful Wake up

Susan's POVI woke up, feeling quite refreshed for the first time in years. No chills from the prison, a soft sensation right under me, warm covers over me. I don't think I even slept this well back when I was living in Duncan's mansion.I opened my eyes to the darkness of the guest room looming over me. Unlike back in prison, though, there was nothing to worry about in this darkness. I slowly sat up and stretched my arms, wincing a bit in pain. It did not take me long to remember of what happened yesterday, the pain I had to go through. Adding along the many stress and worries for Justin, I had completely forgotten about my injuries during that time. I am only thankful that the pain was not too bad, thanks to the meds and herbs I was treated with.'Once I have control over my wolf, things will be even better for me,' I thought, a smile forming on my face just thinking about it.I looked down at Justin, only to see him missing from the bed. Panic filled me when I saw him gone, and I q

Pularis's POVWe sat at the table for dinner. ‘We’ being me, Grandmother, Susan, and Justin. As we ate, I couldn’t help sneak some glances at Susan and her son, noticing again how close they were to one another, as any mother and son would.I hastily veered my eyes away, not wanting to get any unwanted attention for staring. Least not by Susan. She I most especially don’t want to offend.“So Susan. I assume you remember of our plans for later today,” Grandmother asked her, getting Susan’s attention, as she turned to her with a hopeful expression.“We’re really going to have that training after this?” she asked.“But of course. That was the plan we agreed upon, was it not? Don’t tell me you had been so exhausted to the point that you forgotten that in your sleep?”Grandmother was normally a harsh woman, not one to make any sort of jokes, even towards children. To hear her take that light tone towards Susan, it came as a surprise to me. A suprrise that I hid, as I kept my attention on m

  • Rise of the Alpha's Rejected Luna   Memories of the Past

I remember it like it was yesterday, back when we were juveniles. Back then, one can say that I was born different from my siblings, in an unwanted way. Because of that, not only were there some... 'conflicts' between me and my pack- family included- I was sent away to Grandmother. The only person who was indifferent to me. Treated me like she would anyone else. For the most part, at least. Until an incident occurred that made her want to move me away from the pack. Not something I want to go into detail with.Long story short, one thing led to another during the trip away from home, and I met... 'her'. She was just a little girl, frightened out of her mind. Honestly speaking, I found her more annoying than I do pitiful. And yet, for one reason or another... I couldn't just leave her. I was tempted to, as there were no benefits to helping some kid, who was not even from my pack, nor seemed to be part of an Alpha family, but I didn't. Not when it left me with a bad taste in my mouth.I

I was snapped back to reality when I reached my office, where I found a guest standing by my desk."Greetings, Alpha," Crystal greeted with a bow."At ease, Beta Crystal," I greeted back, walking to my desk, as she straightened herself back up. "I assume the message has been properly delivered back to headquarters?""Yes, Alpha. Although..."I turned to her with a raised brow at her hesitant tone. "Do we have a problem?""It's not that we have a problem, Alpha. I am only wondering why you care so much."I raised an unamused brow at the statement. "I don't see what is so confusing about me doing my job as a councilman. The sooner we get rid of this pack- of the Alpha who has smeared our title through mud- the better it will be for the rest of us. Or do you wish for me to spare that disgraceful Alpha? And in turn indirectly have all packs know that it was fine for their Alphas to be criminals deep down? For all Alphas to assume that it was perfectly fine for them to slack off on their du

  • Rise of the Alpha's Rejected Luna   To Reawaken the Wolf Within

Susan's POVAfter dinner, I went with Patricia to the backyard to do my training for my wolf. There was so much space back here, Justin was running about, having the time of his life. Originally, I had planned for him to stay in the mansion, as I did not know how the training would go, but Patricia assured me that there was nothing to fear for him to be nearby. Of course, as neither of us would be able to watch over Justin while we train, so Ayla was assigned to keep watch over him. She who, thankfully, seemed to have forgiven me for what I did to her last night.“Okay, Susan. Before we get started on our training, I want to ask some questions,” Patricia spoke.“Sure. What about?” I asked, wondering if the questions she would be asking would have anything to do with our training."To start, your wolf. Has it never awakened at all, or did it happen at one point that you don't seem to remember?"I became confused with the question she asked me. "Why would that be important?""Just answe

"I cannot believe how stupid the mutts in this pack are,” Patricia groaned, pinching the bridge of her nose in disappointment.I had just finished explaining my little story about my wolf’s awakening, and what happened after. Both in terms of the poison incident, and how I was unable to shift into my wolf form after that. Patricia was silent the whole time I was telling her my story, her expression unreadable. Halfway through the explanation, I was starting to think that she didn’t believe a word I said, until she finally spoke.“I have heard enough of how blind they are to not say or do anything more to question that Alpha of theirs. For them to go along with his claim about you on top of that without question? Even a pup would find something suspicious about this!” she exclaimed, her face looking quite frightening, as I shifted back a bit. Noticing my action, Patricia took in a breath to calm herself down. “Deep breaths, myself. It is not good for an old soul to get her blood boilin

I followed Patricia back into the mansion. Once inside, the elder had me follow her to what seemed to be a treatment room. There, she had me sit on a bed, while she prepared some herbs and candles. Some very strong-scented ones, no less."I know you said they were needed, but do we really need to use those herbs and candles?" I asked, trying hard not to scrunch my face from the sharp scent I was smelling. “I thought you said I need to take some kind of special herbs in order for me to connect to my wolf.”"I know these may be a bit too harsh on the nose, believe me I do. However, these are necessary for this practice," Patricia told me, as she lit up some scented candles and placed them around me. The sharp minty scent making me want to plug my nose shut. “The herbs will only lull you to deep sleep. Should you sleep with these scented aroma around you, you will be able to connect to your wolf in your dreams.”I grew confused at the explanation. “Is there a need to take the medicine if

  • Rise of the Alpha's Rejected Luna   Stressed for the Trial

Susan's POVI roamed about in my room, concerned with how quiet it suddenly got downstairs. Even though I knew all witnesses were to remain in our respective room until our summons, I couldn't help wondering if it was also appropriate for us to not at least greet the judges and jurors sent by the Council of Wolves. Particularly when some of those wolves are the councilmen like Pularis. "Miss, you need to stop that worrying. Everything will be fine," Ayla assured me."Do you even know what I'm anxious about?" I lightly retorted."If I were to make an assumption, perhaps something along the lines of properly meeting the other councilmen in the lobby?" I was taken aback by how accurate her guess was, in which she giggled at. "You're not the first werewolf who is troubled by such thought, as is this is not the first time the councilmen had to be directly involved in a trial."Hearing that made me feel a little bit better, as I sat down on the bed. “Yeah… Yeah, that’s exactly how I feel,”

  • Rise of the Alpha's Rejected Luna   Preparing the Trial II

Pularis's POVI stood amongst the many judges and jurors who were summoned for this case in Howler's Inn. If I may dare admit, I was surprised to see the large number of people coming for this from the headquarters. Helpers from their respective packs or general acquaintances who practiced for trials, maybe. But not-“Pularry~ How’s it going, my man?” a werewolf greeted so casually, wrapping an arm around my shoulder, as I sighed at his action.“Anderson… Carefree as per usual, I see,” I groaned, far from pleased to see this wolf. And not just because he annoys me about as much as any foolish werewolf with much ego and arrogance. “And here I thought you would learn to actually behave as any werewolf in your position would by now, councilman.”“What? And be an uptight mutt?” Anderson retorted with a chuckle. “Nice joke there. See? I knew there was a real funny bone in you.”A hand chopped down on his head hard, causing him to fall on his knees, his arm slipped off me, as he held his he

  • Rise of the Alpha's Rejected Luna   Preparing the Trial

Susan's POVTo say I have become somewhat of a nervous wreck may be an understatement. Given what today was, how could I not be? If anything, I believe it was normal to be nervous on a day like today. The day of Duncan’s trial. The trial that was to determine his fate, his followers, and the very Bluemoon Pack itself.I was more than ready to say my piece of what happened the day of my arrest, and what Duncan has done to me despite my ‘serving my time’ in prison. Of course, whether or not people actually agrees on it was another matter entirely. I may speak the truth to them, and Pularis may vouch for the facts I speak, but what of everyone else? Not all Alphas can see through lies, as proven by Duncan. And though the judges were people sent by the very Council of Wolves themselves, who was to say if these people were reliable? I don’t want to doubt Pularis and his people, but it’s hard to put my trust in people I don’t know. Especially given what I went through.“Are you okay?” Ayla

  • Rise of the Alpha's Rejected Luna   Doubts Formed

Both I and Ashley were shocked with the decision Father made. Ashley, specifically. "W-Wait! You can't do that!" she exclaimed."Seeing as this was bought under the Alpha's name, and what its properties are, I will be doing exactly that. If you have anyone to blame, it is only the two of you. You with your everlasting greed, and you…” Father stopped as he laid eyes on me. The disappointment clear on his face. “I should’ve made my last task as Alpha to change how Alphas are to be selected in this pack.” When those words left his mouth, something in me felt empty. Heavy, that made me lower my head in shame. Father said nothing else after that, and left the room."W-Wait! Father!" Ashley cried out, before turning to me. "Duncan, don't just be silent! W-We have to stop him!"I didn’t know if it was because I was still feeling that shame, but hearing Ashley say that? Something sounded a little suspicious, especially with how she was acting."Why? When that is only poison? What use would

  • Rise of the Alpha's Rejected Luna   Identity of the Drug

Duncan's POVI sat in the living room, my head down in disbelief from everything that happened in a span of a few hours just a little earlier. What have I seen? What did I witness? If it was a miracle, I much rather it be that than... Than whatever else that was revealed. It was one thing that Ashley- the love of my life who had been poisoned by that slut mutt, Susan- recover from the ailment that made her suffer. Find the strength in her that helped her take down that bitch that was beating her so. In fact, for all I know, that must be what happened. And everything else- every word said that was making me think otherwise- were nothing but lies in the end. All that was 'revealed' were nothing but fabrications. Tales that were being told differently than what the action truly showed."ARE YOU LISTENING TO ME?!" Or so I would have preferred it, if my father was not sitting across from me on the sofa, presenting me and Ashley with the package set on the table between us. The package was

  • Rise of the Alpha's Rejected Luna   A Slightly Warm Feeling

I looked up at Pularis in stupor. What was he trying to tell me?“S-Sorry, I think I got a little woozy there, Alpha. I could’ve sworn I’m hearing you tell me that I will be fully healed if my wolf awakens,” I said.“I am saying that.” My bafflement grew at his confirmation. “Now, don’t take my words seriously. I am no healer, and I am not some expert on wolves. The ones with us werewolves, that is. From what I’ve heard of your friend, there hasn’t been quite a case of an illness similar to yours in any medical records or books she knew of. Or am I wrong?”I was not a doctor myself, but from what I knew, Pularis was not wrong. Even Caitlyn said so, and hoped that his pack would know something about my condition that is not known in the Bluemoon pack.“I don’t know much about the role, you were born into the role of Werewolf Priestess, it is possible that there are plenty of differences about you compared to other werewolves, just as there is a difference between an Alpha werewolf and

I was just closing my eyes when I heard light knocking at my door, marking me open them again. ‘Who’s at my door this time?’ I wondered.“Yes?”“It’s me. Mind if I come in?”“Alpha Pularis? Uh, sure. You can come in.”Once I gave him permission, the door opened, and my soon-to-be new Alpha entered. “Apologies for suddenly leaving. Had matters to take care of,” he said.“Would they have to do with Duncan and Ashley?” Pularis gave me an odd look when I asked that. “I was told by Miss Patricia.”He sighed at the response. “I thought I smelled her scent earlier,” he muttered, before turning back to me. “To answer your question, yes. Yes, it does have to do with those two.” He then stopped for a moment, looking me over. “You mind sitting up? I need to talk to you about something important.”Curiosity washed over me when he said that. “Yeah, I’ll try.” I was about to sit up, only to be reminded of how painful it was even adjusting myself on the bed. Unlike before, though, Pularis quickly to

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, wait. What? I’m sorry, what? Huh? Ashley was what?”Those were the only things I could say after what Patricia revealed to me. News I never thought I would ever hear from… Well, anywhere. Nor did I think it to be that possible.“Like I said, child. That ‘Ashley’ girl has her lies exposed. The ‘illness’ she was said to be harboring was nothing more than a fake. A lie. An act. All with the right prop to use.”I was still in stupor, hearing that again. Replaying it in my head, even. This whole time, like Duncan and many others, I had thought she was truly affected by whatever aftermath that position had inflicted onto her. Now I’m hearing that there was no such thing? It was all nothing but some sick act Ashley had put on? But, that made no sense.“How could she have faked her illness this whole time? We’re not talking about ‘days’, but ‘years’. Even if Duncan was that blind to his love for her, he had to be sharp enough to realize the difference between fake and

  • Rise of the Alpha's Rejected Luna   Catching Up Again

Susan's POVI couldn’t sleep at all. I wasn’t sure if it was because I had already ‘slept’ enough that I didn’t need any more sleep, or if it was because I was starting to be conscious of the state of my body that I was not comfortable sleeping. I didn’t know which one it was, but I just couldn’t sleep.‘I wonder if I’m allowed to take any walks in the mansion. Or at least in my room. I don’t think I can sleep otherwise,’ I thought.I slowly tried to sit up from bed, though had some difficulties in doing so. My body was feeling quite sore, which made it a little tough for me to move. It especially hurts when I put pressure on some of my worst, bandaged injuries. That is, the bite and claw marks, according to Caitlyn.Eventually, instead of getting out of bed, I settled only for readjusting myself on it, and looked around the room.“I should’ve asked for a book to read or something,” I muttered.A knock was heard at the door, surprising me a bit.“Who is it?” I asked.“It’s me, dear.
