THIRTY NINE
ELENA’s POV
Lights fill the eastern sky as the sun begins to peek over the horizon. Helios and I will be heading to the Hidden Forest soon. According to Helios, a witch who dwells among the forest animals can tell us more about the crystal.
Swiftly, I slip on a simple white t-shirt and slide a light blue sweater over it. Helios does not like to wait, and I do not want to give him any more reason to grumble about me going with him on this journey any more than he has already complained to Kane.
A knock comes at the door and I utter a ‘come in’ and breathe a sigh of relief to see Conner poking his head through the crack in the door. At least it isn’t Helios.

ELENA’s POV The night is filled with a labyrinth of stars and as we stand at the borders of the forest, Helios raises his hand. “You men stay here,” he orders before turning to point at me. “Elena, you come with me.” I nod and take a step forward. ELENA’s POV The Witch is a mystery. She had healed Helios, shared with us the crystal’s knowledge and yet she has not asked for anything in return. I stand next to Helios who has awoken and he bows deeply before the Witch. “Great one,” Helios says and I raise an eyebrow. I have never heard him address anyone with so much respect before. “Please, can you please tell us where the crystal is, or at the very least where the bastard, I mean, where Clyde is?” He tugs at my arm, trying to make me bow too but I shoo his hand away. FREYA’s POV I stand at the foot of the hill that leads to Light Paw Village as the sun above me begins to set. The place no longer looks like it used to. The once clear path is now overrun by weeds and littered with garbage. There are even carcasses of little animals lying around. Bats, rats and even rabbits.
