OCTAVIA.

I was incredibly nervous about what it would be like when we got to the pack. It was hard to do, but I attempted to taper my nerves down and hide them behind a mask of confidence.

‘Fake is until you make it, darling,’ Storm proclaimed as she strutted around inside of my mind.

I couldn't help but chuckle upon hearing that. At least one of us had confidence. Perhaps hers would wear off onto me someday. It felt like things were getting a bit easier with each passing day between her steady presence and Roman’s. Not to mention Creed’s presence. He was such a sweet wolf.

Sadly, I couldn’t talk to Creed myself without it either being through Roman or Storm because I didn’t have the pack’s mindlink just yet. Had I been a typical person who joined their pack then I would be able to accept Roman as my Alpha at any point.

Apparently, it was tradition for the Luna to officially join the pack, if she wasn’t already a member, while in the presence of said pack. It showed her willingness t

OCTAVIA.I was incredibly nervous right now but was attempting to push that aside.Roman led me out of the packhouse and through the beautiful garden that I had seen from the epic little reading nook upstairs. Past the garden was a stage in front of a large open space that had seating.I felt something thrumming through the air as we walked closer to the stage.‘That’s magic,’ Storm informed me. ‘Please hold…’It felt like there was a lens layered over my field of vision. I could see feint threads of red and silver all around the area that had previously been invisible. Wow. Was that what magic looked like?‘Mhm. The red threads denote the magic that can be used by Phoenix wolves. It’s for protection and is actually found all around the pack. The silver is from Fae. It seems that this Fae magic is used to create a protection from the elements for this entire area. It’ll also cool the area down or warm it up depending on what’s necessary. Not certain who did this, but they’re powerful t

`ROMAN.As calmly as possible, I asked what type of problem it was.“Our convoy was attacked when we were twenty minutes away from the Council grounds. The front and rear vehicles were struck at the same time,” Alpha Gideon said.Octavia’s body tensed up upon hearing that, and so did mine. She had felt off when they left the pack. I had thought that warning them to be careful would do the job, but apparently it didn’t.“Rogues?”There was already a connection established between Alpha Richard and them, so it wouldn’t be too far-fetched for them to be involved.“No, not rogues. There were two groups of vampires that struck us simultaneously. They crashed into the front and rear vehicles, causing them to flip multiple times. The vehicle, carrying Alpha Richard was flipped next. The vampires extracted only Alpha Richard, leaving the rest to their fate. They disappeared before we could stop them,” Alpha Gideon finished explaining to us.My parents and Octavia could all hear the conversati

OCTAVIA. “My family can be a lot, but they mean well. They were ecstatic when they heard that I found you. Are you going to be okay with meeting them like this?”I took his hand in mine and gave it a squeeze. He was always so considerate with me, wanting to ensure that I was okay with whatever was going on at the time.“Yes,” I told him. “I’m looking forward to meeting them too. Family is very important to you. It was always important to me too. I can handle it as long as you’re beside me.”His fingers gently gripped my chin, pulling my face closer to his. The look in his eyes was intense, holding me captive. It was one that spoke promises, which were stronger than any words could ever convey.“There’s nowhere else that I’d rather be, Sweetheart.”He moved slowly, giving me an opportunity to back out, to stop this. That wasn’t what I wanted though. There was an explosion of sparks when his lips touched mine. It was like fireworks in the night sky that brightened it right up.I was gai

OCTAVIA.“None, sweetheart. No matter what happened outside of the pack, I knew better than to allow it to happen inside of the pack. I never wanted my mate to be put in a position where she would be faced with anyone that I’d slept with. That’s precisely all it was. It was merely sex. There were no feelings attached to it, no connection between us. My heart and soul were two things that I had sworn to only ever belong to my mate.”It was because of the last part, that I fully opened my end of the bond and flooded it with what I was feeling. Happiness. Awe. And a very strong possessiveness that’s depth surprised even me.It didn’t matter what came before because we would make our own present, which would then become our own past to override every past that came before me.He sucked in a sharp breath when he felt it all. It took him a moment to sort through it all before opening up just like I had done. He was overwhelmed, at peace, and had never been this happy before. All of that was

OCTAVIA.Blood Lake was the only home that I had ever known, so it was safe to say that I was worried about leaving it. It wasn’t because I wanted to remain within the confines of the past six years or anything. No, I was worried about what it would be like at Roman’s pack. What his pack would think about me being their Luna. Failing or disappointing him was the last thing that I wanted. Not only was Roman an Alpha but was also one of two Regents in the states. Behind the Werewolf Council, Regents held the highest power for our kind. The Council always came first, but Regents were a close second.Roman needed a strong mate, someone who could complement him in all ways.Could that possibly be me? I felt so damn weak that it was almost laughable. Could I train to become strong? Physically, emotionally, and mentally. Was it possible? I supposed that there was no way to know for sure until I did it. It would be a challenge, but one that I would give everything that I had within me.I watch
