54. I Don't Know

I awake to see Xavier beside me. He has a strong hold on me, almost in fear, that if he lets me go, I will never return to him. I cough as I try to ask what happened. Only for Xavier to immediately stir, and tell me not to talk. I nod my head, as I give him a pleading look, hoping he'll understand.

"Your body went into shock. Your body shut down because of lack of food, water, and sleep." He looks at me upset. 

"Why didn't you eat or sleep?" I try to tell him why, but he puts a finger to my lips hushing me. 

"Dr Lawson had to intubate you. Your throat will hurt for the next while. But as long as you don't overdo it, like talking, you'll heal quickly."

I nod, showing him that I understand.

"I just don't understand how this even happened? Did you let Dr Lawson check you over when we got back?"
