POV: Brandon

There’s something weirdly satisfying about walking into campus with Cameron beside me. Maybe it’s the way his hand fits in mine—like we’re puzzle pieces designed to bicker and banter for eternity. Or maybe it’s just how every other couple looks boring as hell in comparison.

We’re halfway across the quad, and Cameron’s already tried to let go of my hand three times.

“People are staring,” he muttered, side-eyeing a girl across the lawn who was definitely pretending not to look.

I tightened my grip on his hand like a koala refusing to be evicted from a tree. “Let them. Maybe they’re admiring your moody aura.”

He gave me a look. The kind that says Brandon, I’m dangerously close to fake breaking up with you in front of the dining hall.

I grinned anyway. “Besides, you’re hot when you’re annoyed.”

“I’m always annoyed.”

“Exactly.”

He groaned, dragging a hand down his face. “Can you not be like this for one morning?”

“Nope.” I leaned closer until our shoulders touched. “This is wh

Cameron POVI was still staring at the proposal draft when Irene barged into my office without knocking. That was already a red flag—she only ignored knocking when something huge happened. Her face was pale, lips pressed tight like she was trying not to swear. She dropped a folder on my desk, hard enough to make my pen roll off.“Cameron,” she said, voice clipped. “We’ve got a problem.”I leaned back in my chair, already exhausted, and rubbed my eyes. “Please tell me it’s just a typo in the numbers again. Because if it’s about decimals, I swear I’ll—”“It’s not decimals.” She cut me off, sharp. “It’s the Devilles.”My stomach sank. “What about them?”She crossed her arms. “They just acquired Smarthome.”I blinked. “You’re joking.”“I wish I was.” She tapped the folder. “Signed this morning. Official statement went out thirty minutes ago. And they didn’t stop there. They announced they’ll be competing for the bid. High-profile. Cocky. They basically said they’re going to crush everyone

  • Rival's Contract Marriage    Chapter 149

Cameron POVI hadn’t seen Brandon in days.At first, I thought he’d show up outside my apartment again, leaning against his stupid car like he had all the time in the world. Or maybe he’d hover near my office building, waiting to corner me in the lobby the way he always did when he was desperate. But nothing. No texts. No calls. No pleading voicemails at 2AM.It was like he’d been erased. And I should’ve felt relief. I should’ve been able to breathe again, to focus, to keep my head down and just get through this bidding. But instead? The silence hurt.I hated admitting it, even to myself, but without him constantly barging into my space, everything just felt… empty.Still, I didn’t have time to dwell on it.The company was dangling by a thread after Dad’s coma. Every move I made now mattered. And if I could win this bidding, if I could actually pull it off, it would not only drag us out of the storm—it would prove that I wasn’t just the kid with the last name. It’d prove I deserved to

  • Rival's Contract Marriage    Chapter 148

Cameron POvI was halfway down the lobby, scrolling through my phone and mentally running through the points for the lunch meeting, when I saw him.Brandon was Standing just outside the glass doors of my office building, like he’d been waiting there for hours. He looked… awful. His hair was messy, like he’d run his hands through it a hundred times, and his shirt was wrinkled. There were dark shadows under his eyes. The Brandon I knew never looked like this.My stomach twisted, but I forced myself to keep walking, my steps steady, my expression unreadable. The moment I pushed open the door, he was right there.“Cam, please—” His voice cracked, and he grabbed my hand before I could react. “Please just… just give me a minute.”I swallowed hard, glancing around. The sidewalk wasn’t exactly crowded, but enough people were passing by that it made me uncomfortable. “Brandon, let go,” I said quietly, trying to keep my tone firm.“I can’t,” he said. His eyes were glassy, like he was one deep b

BRANDONThe kitchen smelled like garlic and fried onions, which basically meant my mum was on a mission to feed the entire block again. I was supposed to be “helping,” but really, I was just standing there holding a chopping board and pretending I knew what I was doing.“Brandon, those tomatoes aren’t going to chop themselves,” Mum said, giving me that side-eye while flipping something in the pan.I sighed dramatically and picked up the knife. “You know you’re better at this than me. You should be proud I’m even in the kitchen.”She laughed. “Proud? I’m shocked you haven’t run out yet. I thought hockey boys couldn’t survive in a kitchen unless there was protein powder involved.”“Wow. Hurtful,” I said, grinning. My phone buzzed on the counter, and for a second, I ignored it because chopping tomatoes without losing a finger was already taking 90% of my focus. But then it buzzed again, and the screen lit up with a notification that made my stomach drop.It was from an unknown number. A

Cameron’s POVBy the time I got home from the conference, my head felt like it had been in a vice all day. Between the fake smiles, the corporate jargon, and… Brandon… sitting next to me for hours, I was exhausted. I didn’t even bother turning on the lights when I stepped into the apartment.I just wanted silence. But apparently, life was in the mood to punch me in the face again.Because there he was.Drake.Leaning against my kitchen counter like he owned the place, a glass of whiskey in his hand, eyes that dark, sharp shade that always meant trouble.I dropped my bag onto the couch. “What the hell are you doing here?”He smiled—slow, deliberate, like he’d been waiting for me. “Relax, little brother. Just thought I’d pay you a visit.”“I don’t need a visit.” I started to head toward my room, but he stepped in my way, blocking the hall.“Conference go well?” he asked, too casual.“Move.”“Who’d you sit next to?” His voice had this knowing edge to it, and my stomach twisted.I glared.

I slid into my chair, my hand tightening around the pen they’d placed at each setting. He didn’t glance at me, not once. Not when I sat down. Not when I said, “Hey.” Not even when I leaned slightly closer and muttered, “Guess they ran out of places to hide me from you.”His only reaction was this tiny twitch at the corner of his mouth. Could’ve been annoyance. Could’ve been… something else. The keynote speaker started, but I wasn’t really listening. I could hear Cameron’s breathing. I could see the way his fingers tapped lightly against his notepad when he was trying not to fidget.I leaned back, whispering just low enough for him to hear. “You look good.”His pen froze mid-word. He didn’t look at me. “Don’t.”“Don’t what?” I asked, even though I knew exactly what.“Don’t do this here.”I smiled, even though my chest hurt. “I’m literally just sitting.”He finally turned to look at me, and wow, bad idea. His eyes were sharp, all control and ice, but I caught it—the flicker. The one tha
