EREBUS Gently I try to shake Ella awake and instead of waking she rolls over and snuggles into my pillow. “It is expected that the Luna be there. You are supposed to be at my side,” I try and convince Ella to come to Vanessa’s beheading. “Since when do I do what is expected of me,” she retorts sleepily, and I cannot argue with her logic. “Ella, sometimes we must do what is expected of us,” I try to coach her out of the bed, but she only snuggles into my pillow farther. “I am not going to witness another death,” Ella says shortly as she sits up in the bed. “Especially not another one that is because of me.” “None of these deaths are because of you,” I try to reason with her, but she throws herself back on the bed and covers her face with the blankets. She mumbles something angrily from under the blanket that is muffled. “What was that?” I ask her to repeat herself. Ripping the blankets off of her head she looks at me with tears gleaming in her emerald, green eyes.

ELLA The hot water from the shower rushes down my body. Erebus’s words plague my thoughts and I know that he is right, my place is at his side. I can’t avoid the execution just because it makes me feel uncomfortable. “Damn it,” I murmur to myself as I shut off the water and quickly dry myself off. “It is about time that you came to your senses,” a familiar voice whispers quietly in my mind. “Lily?” I say aloud covering my mouth in shock. “Lily are you back?” “I am here,” she says weakly. “I am weak, but I am here.” Tears prickle at the corners of my eyes as her voices becomes clearer in my mind. “I am so sorry. ELLA The water runs red as it washes Vanessa’s blood from my body. Even the water is warm my body shakes as I recall what I have just done. Bracing my hands against the shower wall I try to calm my nerves, but it is not working. My legs begin to shake underneath my weight, and I fall to the tiles beneath my feet. Slow painful sobs escape my mouth as I curl my knees to my chest and sit with the hot water spraying down over me. I have never killed anyone before and when I got the opportunity, I tortured and slaughtered her like a monster. The painful sobs begin to come faster and louder as I think about each time I stabbed Vanessa. The bathroom door bursts open and Erebus storms into the shower, scooping me into his arms while fully clothed he wraps me gently in a towel. “Little Vixen,” he says gently moving my wet hair out of my face. “Why are you crying?” Sobs continue to wrack my body as Erebus engulfs me in his arms. “I k-k-killed her,” I stutter out between sniffles.

ELLA The green flames leave my hands and soar through the air to the target on the other side of the training grounds. The target bursts into green flames that quickly turn to orange. I groan frustratedly as I watch the target burn down to ashes. “You aren’t concentrating,” Grace yells from the stands that surround the training grounds. “Those flames should remain green if you want to keep control over them.” Rolling my eyes in her direction I send another green ball of fire across the grounds hitting the second target. This time the target is engulfed in green flames, but it does not burn. Sweat begins to pour down my face as I try to keep control over the flames that are one hundred meters away. EREBUS Light breaks through the curtains and I groan as it hits my face. Ella snuggles in closer to my chest trying to block herself from the light. Wrapping my arms around her I try not to think about the dreams that plagued my sleep. Dreams of Grace having a terrible vision about my pup and Ella. Dreams about losing them both. Day by day I know that the war is coming closer and closer. I know that I have to find a way to keep them both protected even though Ella is insisting on fighting. I squeeze her small frame in my arms before I slide my arm out from under her gently and make my way towards the shower. Looking back at Ella, she has snuggled herself into my pillow and is snoring lightly. Her shirt has ridden up her stomach revealing the subtle baby bump that is growing. ELLA Standing outside of Grace’s cabin I stare at the door, unsure if I should knock or not. I haven’t been back here since I stormed out after hearing that Walter was hired to kill me when I was just a child. Looking back at the situation now, I suppose I may have overreacted a bit. But at the time I felt angered and betrayed. I raise my hand to knock on the old door and Emmett stiffens beside me, standing at attention. “Don’t do that,” I hiss at him. “Don’t do what?” He whispers back in confusion. “Don’t stand like a member of the Royal Guard,” I whisper yell back at him. GRACE Staring at the door as Walter leaves I turn back and glare at Ella and Emmett. “You don’t know what you are asking of me,” I tell her with my voice sounding strained. “I have been bound by the covens not to speak the names of those members.” “You have been bound by magic or by your word,” Ella asks me. “For a witch they are the same thing,” I reply angrily. “I think you should go.” Walking to the front door I open it and gesture for them to leave. Watching silently from the front porch of the cabin, Ella wraps her coat around her and lifts her hood over her head before she and Emmett disappear into the night. ELLA The tension in the room is so thick that it could be cut with a knife. The Hunter’s Clan sits on one side of the room glaring at the Lycan Royal Guard that is sitting on the other side. Erebus, Walter, Lucian, Emmett, and I all sit in the center of the room, none of us knowing who should speak first.
