Chapter 7

DELLA

Hunt and I spent hours in the hot spring before we could hear early morning birds chattering in between the trees even though the sky was still dark.

After squeezing out the water from my hair, I pulled my sweater and jeans back on and then walked back to the cabins with Hunt.

We went to my cabin instead of going back to Hunt's and I felt a lump of nervousness lodge itself in my throat.

When I closed the door behind us, Hunt moved right over the fireplace and crouched beside the hearth as he threw a few logs in.

The wide, black rug near him was soft and warm, so I kicked off my boots and sat beside Hunt, watching as the fire started in the hearth.

"You know all those fables," Hunt said, as he settled next to me. "The ones humans wrote about werewolves or wolves, in general, being afraid of fire."

I saw the smile forming on his lips, so I lay down, my back flat against the ground as I rested my head on Hunt's lap, staring up at him.
