Three

Roommates 3

She was two hour into reading the art of story telling when the scraping of chair from close by gained her attention. It was annoying that anyone would do something this aggravating in the library.

She tried to ignore it and focused on the writing on the book but then something else got her attention. From her peripheral vision, she could see someone seating opposite her clumsily putting out text book in front of them making a clattering noise.

She choose to ignore this also trying to believe that this was the persons first time in a public space and that the person was just nervous.

By the time she heard the numerous dinging of the notification bell from her neighbours phone she had had enough. Slamming her book shut, she glanced up at the stranger. A sweet bitter smile on her face.

"Don't you think you should put that out." she said through her tight teeth.

The boy in front of her looked up from his phone, his face brightening as he sees her face.

"I didn't expect to see you here." he said smiling widely at her.

She frowned at him.

"Do I know you?' she asked and then put her hands signaling him not to say anything.

" You know what? Don't answer. " she pushed the chair back quietly, packing her books and study notes into her bag.

"Where are you going?" he asked. Harley ignores him as she moves away to the front desk to check out.

"Leaving already?" the elderly woman behind the desk asked.

"Yes ma'am. I'll like to borrow this book for a week." she said placing the book out on the counter.

"Oh, right. Here you go." she said giving her the card.

"Thank you." she said and walked out of the library.

Now that her reading time had been disrupted, Harley had no other choice but to head to the cafe and wait tip it was time to meet Grey.

Coffee winx was a small cozy cafe, which had a beautiful wooden aesthetics. Even though it was not full, it had its fair share of loyal customers who string in to get whatever they need.

Her aunt had told her that it was the best place to have coffee and eat lime cakes. She pushed opened the door and stepped in, the air was cozy and welcoming. She walked straight ahead to the counter until she was looking down at the delicious threats arranged neatly in their different sizes and forms.

"Welcome to Coffee winx, what can I get you?" the platinum blonde haired girl said cheerfully. Her bright blue eyes reminded her of the beach water back home, bright and full of life. Harleys eyes moved to her tag which was pinned to her shirt. May.

"Uh.." she stuttered. "I'll get the lime cake and latte." Harley said without stumbling over her words.

"Great choice." May smiled brightly. "Most freshers go for the famous Vanilla pie, but you choose the lime pie. Almost reminds me of this woman who was a friend of my mum, it's been a while since I've seen her but when I was little she would come around and ask for the lime cake." May narrated while packing up the cake in a cute white box.

Harley just stared, not sure what more to say.

"The name is May." she introduced smiling at harley. "I'm a fresher too at Nyu, although I major in film making. When I'm not creating short films, I'm helping out at my mums cafe." she added.

Harley wondered how someone would tell a stranger so much in less than ten minutes.

"Uh..i'm harley." she replied as politely as she could.

"Nice to meet you harley." May said passing her her order. "That'll be two dollars." she added.

Harley opened her purse and passed may the neat dollar bills.

"Nice to meet you too, May." she said and walked to the seat she eyed the moment she stepped inside. It was at the far corner, away from the doors and prying eyes. It was a safe spot.

She ate her meal in silence as she watched college kids like her In pairs and alone troop in and out the cafe. She was glad that not so many people were seated at this moment.

Time slipped fast as she was engrossed in the novel in her hands after she finished eating. Three came around sooner than expected and Harley nervously watched the door to see her soon to be roommate that would walk through the door.

"I'm here." Her phone dinged with the message notification. She replied sending a quick text to Grey telling her where she was seating.

"Last seat to the left when you walk in." she quickly texted back.

Harley let's out a sigh she had been holding as she looked at the door expectantly. Not wanting to look like a creep, she decided to focus on the paper back in her hand which was some what comforting when the door opened.

The bell sound sent chill towards her spine and her grip on the book became tighter and at that moment she wanted to back out. She scolded herself for being like this over meeting a new person, some part of her was scared that she wouldn't be as cool in person than online.

She could hear her heat beat faster as the heavy footsteps of boots walked in her direction. When the chairs scrapped back and the person sat in the chair opposite her she lets out another sigh closing her eyes briefly before opening them again. It was now or never.

She removed the book away from her face tucking the book down with a smile on her face but the smile died down when her eyes met the brown ones. Brown eyes she didn't think of seeing any time soon.

With a confident smirk and a raised brow he stared back at her leaning back in his chair.

"If it isn't Red."
