Five

The rest of the week had gone by smoothly without her setting eyes on Grey even in class. She had bumped into Brad once or twice when she was coming back into the library. He was in a hurry and always waved her bye as he rushed to wherever he was going.

Now Harley was still without a roommate and no one had taken up her offer. Grey on the other hand had not texted her concerning the apartment and she was glad for it.

She spent most of her day time studying and staying healthy and at night she was completing home work or watching video seminars on writing.

She was finishing up her home work that night when she heard the tumbling in the hallway. It was eleven p.m and she wondered who it might be, scared out of her mind she sat still until she heard the banging on the door opposite to hers. She jumped in her seat trying to push the fear bubbling within her.

Before she could calm herself down, her feet were already taking her towards the door. She leaned in and peeked into the eye hole trying to see who it was. The familiar black hair caught her eyes, he was hunched over as he kept on banging on the door. The door eventually opened and the girl with seemingly dark hair stepped out.

"Jesus, Grey. what the hell?" she hissed under her breath. "What are you doing here?" the girl stopped talking when her eyes landed on his face.

"Jesus, did you get into another fight again?" she asked allowing him to step into the house. "I should really par..." the door closed and Harley was unable to hear the rest of the girl's sentence.

Who was that? she thought. Was it Grey's girlfriend? She shook her head.

No, it couldn't be, the girl next door was kind of pissed to see him. Maybe an ex? she's thought.

"Snap out of it Harley, snooping into people's business is not your thing." she scolded herself walking back to her desk. She grabbed her phone and turned it on, she had forty more minutes before she would go to sleep.

Deciding to sing a little she put on her speakers, dimming the sound to the lowest. She enjoyed it like this, this way she would hear the underlying beats, tones and keys while she controlled her singing.

"I'll Be fucked up if you can't be right here." she sang.

"I do the same thing I told you that I never would." the speaker mirrored.

"I told you I'd change, even when I knew I never could." she sang afterward.

"Know that I can't find nobody else as good as you, I need you to stay, need you to stay..." she chorused with the song.

The next week

"So for your project, you guys are to be paired into two." most of the class cheered out in excitement at Mr. Sal's announcement.

"But, I won't be letting you guys pick your partners hence I'll be using your names to pair, that is in an alphabetical order." he added and half of the class groaned.

"Now come one kids don't act like Its such a bad thing." He chuckled. "They'll be a lot more projects coming and you guys will be shuffled, so stay hopeful." he announced going ahead to make a roll call of each partners.

Harley as usual was sitting in the back with her chin on her desk. She wasn't so excited about the pairing that was happening. She was not familiar with any of the people in her class or knew their names. So she was in a blind spot which made her to only hope.

When Mr. Sal reached the letter G, Harley's head shot up and she listened patiently.

"Grey Wilson and Harley Anderson." Harley was shocked out of her mind, she picked on her fingers hoping that this was all a dream and that this Grey was way different from the Grey she met a week ago. When she caught eyes with the boy with brown eyes who had turned to look back at her. She knew she was in deep trouble.

After her class ended, she waited until everyone including Grey who didn't spare her a glance had left the class, leaving only Mr. Sal and a couple who were reading something on their laptop at the back.

She walked to her professor, hoping she doesn't fumble this.

"Miss. Anderson." He said warmly. "How can I help you?" he asked putting away his books in his bag and sitting on his chair.

"Uhm....." she stuttered pinching her self to get a grip. "I umm, concerning...concerning the pairing." she said while Mr. Sal waited for her patiently.

"Yes what about it?" he asked turning his attention to the papers on his desk as he goes through them.

"Well, I... I don't think putting Grey and I together is such a good idea." she finally said.

Mr. sal paused with his reading and looked up from his desk to her face.

"How so?" he asked waiting for an explanation.

"Well you see, I.. he's a... He doesn't look like someone who takes this seriously." She stated. Mr. Sal raised his brows at her.

"Oh, I didn't know that." he said. "But that's better for him, you can push him to participate besides the assignment can't be one-sided no matter how you want to try." he added.

Harley's face fell, she had to bring up something solid and fast.

"Look, Harley, Grey isn't such a bad kid. He may be annoying sometimes but he's one to give his all into something. You really shouldn't judge him, besides how can you tell how he really Is, if you haven't was spoken to him properly." he replied.

"I have an..." she paused knowing that her argument was baseless.

"If it makes you feel any better. Grey met me before concerning this same thing too." He informed her and she stared at him surprised.

"He did? But he didn't know how the placing was going to be?" she said with her eyes raised.

"I was a bit surprised too, but the kid figured it out somehow and deduced that you would be his partner" he chuckled.

"I don't get it why does he come to you then?" she asked getting more confused.

"For the same reason, you're here. He didn't want to be your partner." He answered.
